My goodness, I travelled this route every day on 303s and 314 for uni. Can’t believe someone had the sense to film the ordinary mundane travel that wouldn’t have meant anything at the time, but is now an amazing nostalgic record. Thanks for the upload, subbed.
Thanks for your comments..... I travelled around BR and just filmed pretty much all i saw. Although with the Southern being loacl to me i did less units there although now i wish i had filmed more of them......
never thought I'd see such good footage of the 303s and the low level. Thank you for uploading this. If you have more of the unrefurbished 303s I'd love to see it!
I think i have a few more and some more 311's! There's some morning peak hour shots at Partick incuding some shots of the Subway, units still in orange livery. I'll have to dig some more out, i had over 50 3 hour VHS tapes of railways now on disc & MP4 so there's a lot to sort through, and that's without tubes and buses and planes!
I'm glad you like the film. I have quite a bit more to get up, shots from Penzance to Kyle of Lochalsh so there should be something to appeal to everybody!
I remember leaving the warmth of my Mk1 sleeping car compartment one morning around 82/83 approx 5.30am off the Bristol - Glasgow/Edinburgh overnighter 23.55 ex bham new street so we could go to Motherwell depot at the start of a long tour weekend around the region. When I think back why my dad didnt let us sleep through to Glasgow where you could lie in until vacation time I'll never know.
The chime at 0:20 and “Glasgow Central, this is Glasgow Central” was that on the train or the station itself? I don’t remember ever hearing that back in the day

i really miss sitting up front in a 303 and watching the driver and the track ahead.
Great vids of the not-so Blue Trains and their PEP-derived successors. 👍🏻

Couldn't help but notice the light engine 'tractor' (Class 37) at Motherwell. Possibly bound for Mossend.

Would be on the platform. That chime is still used at some stations. Trains would only have guard announcements back then
Do you have a video of Queen Street low level?
Yes, see it here...... ruclips.net/video/2z5TwAe-_I4/видео.html
