How to use estimation in real life scout tips /The way to estimate the distance across a river is to notice an object " O " such as a tree or rock, on the bank opposite to whrere you stand at " A " start off at right
angles to " O A" and walk, say , 10 pace
along your bank. on arriving at 10 pace , plant a stiker or stone , " C " on arriving at "C " 10 pace beyond "B " and 20 pace from the start at " A " turn at right
angles and walk in land , counting your steps until you bring the stick and the distant tree in line . the number of steps you have take from the bank " CD" will then give you the distance across "0A" in another word OA= CD
