    Very well-presented and clear. I especially like how you supplement the matrix explanation with trees--really makes matrices less abstract. Thanks!

    The row sum should be 1, so 0.2 and 0.4 is reversed

      @Rohan Patel I think it would be easier if all the world uses the same terminology. So far what I've seen are all written like State*Trans. Matrix.

    KINDLY HELP. "I have 4 umbrellas, some at home, some in the office. I keep moving between home
    and office. I take an umbrella with me only if it rains. If it does not rain I leave the
    umbrella behind (at home or in the office). It may happen that all umbrellas are in
    one place, I am at the other, it starts raining and must leave, so I get wet.
    a. Write the transition matrix."

    A square matrix P = (ptj) is called a stochastic matrix if each of
    its row is a probability vector i.e. if each element of P is non-negative and the
    sum of the elements in each row is one.............BUT YOU SAYS THAT THE SUM OF IT'S COLUMN IS ONE......WHICH ONE IS CORRECT?

    • @benjaminojo7869
      @benjaminojo7869 2 года назад

      Exactly, sum of the elements in a row is equal to 1 and the column is a vector

    What sums to one are those ROWs, NOT the COLUMNs.(In my world of math) And we right S_n=S_0*T^n. please check wiki and commend this comment if you think its useful.

    Maybe you write it differently being Australian?

    • @marrkk91
      @marrkk91 6 лет назад +4

      Ok, I'm not the only one!! The rows must add up to 1 not the other way around.

    • @awinoful
      @awinoful 6 лет назад +9

      The transition matrix is fine. There are normally two notations for writing a transition matrix. Either having current states on the rows with the next states in the columns or alternatively like he has presented. Notice the summation is one for either notation.

    This is wrong solution of this question. 0.2 should be switch with 0.4 last week this question was appears on my Stochastic Calculus Exam i used you technique for solution, but that was wrong and i loses my 12 marks. Delete this video because this misguide so many other students.
