Weird pancake cravings , I remember I used to have this with pancakes too and when my husband came back in the middle of the night out of the kitchen with the pancakes ? the poor guy had to make something else because that craving alwaaaays changed into something else :D , poor guy actually made me what I wanted even when he spended so much time in the kitchen :o :-) , and each morning I did want the pancakes but I added some VERY strange things on it you do not want to know that :p , wish you much luck and take good care of eachother but I do not doubt that :)

    Hello Flo. I had a feeling you could do this. My Mom is from the islands and she always throws away the "trash" as she calls it. I will keep it it and turn it into flour. You saved me so much money importing coconut flour. Thank You!! I would like to see a cookie 🍪, bread 🍞, and cake 🍰 recipe using coconut flour please. The pictures you show look so good 👍

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  7 лет назад +1

      Yay! That "trash" can be recycled. If you have a vitamix/blendtec blender or other heavy duty dry mills, they even do a better job than this my spice grinder.
      Sure, those recipes are in the works. :) Have you seen the coconut flour pancakes? >> ruclips.net/video/h7D_4wCbmgY/видео.html

    Thanks flo! I needed a gluten free alternative to the bean flour that I recently used in my sweet potato bread (Pain Patate). It is similar to bread pudding but without the raisins etc. It is just a thicker version of sweet potato pie. Lord have mercy Flo, the bean flour gave it an AWFUL taste! I had to make a new one without any flour a' tallll.... It fell apart when you sliced it but it was delicious. lol I believe the coconut flour will be a better gluten free alternative to the bean flour. Thanks for sharing!

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  8 лет назад +1

      Yes, beans flour can be over powering in baked goods. Non-contaminated oat flour is better than beans flour. With coconut flour, you get a mild taste of coconut that does not work too hard. ;) You are welcome.

      Hi there, Yes, anything has to be better than that bean flour in baked goods. :~)I do have to give it credit for working really well as a batter when frying fish etc. Thanks for the info about the oat flour. Have a great day!

    Nice video! I tried drying mine in the sun,its almost dried,but I noticed it has an odour. Do I still continue drying or its spoilt?

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  8 лет назад +2

      Ijeoma that odour ... are the coconuts you started with fresh? If yes, the odour means that the coconut chaff did not get enough sun. If they do not dry fast enough, decomposition sets in, that is where the odour is coming from. If the odour is mild, you can keep drying it till very dry, grind and put in the freezer. But if the odour is too strong, I am afraid it will affect whatever recipe you will use the flour to prepare.

    Hi,
    Thank you for sharing such a useful tutorial. I’d like to ask you something: If we don’t have a proper place to dry them and just like you said we want to put them in the oven, so which temperature we should use during that process?

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  6 лет назад

      The lowest temperature possible so they do not turn brown. If you have a fan oven, just the fan on cool temperature can dry this.
      Glad you found it helpful.

    Hi there Flo , I sundried the cocoshaff today from the virginoil I made yesterday (wherefor again really big thanks because I've noticed that before I did it all wrong + I'm now thanks to you having so much more coconutoil ! :)) ) but when I had it sundried and wanted to make flour from it I ended up with a very small amount of flour :-( while the shaff was really looking like so much , I know that it's ofcourse only normal that when you grind it up it looks like less but this time I am really having like just a little bit , not even enough to bake something , how did I do this so wrong ?? I used 2 large coconuts and added another one today ? So I should normally have like as close to what you showed in this video right ? I am only having like half of a small yar ??? what went wrong here because I do not see how this could go wrong at all actually .... Can I use a coconut's shaff perhaps to use just as coconutflour without grinding it all up ? Or is this not gonna work out well ?? Kind Regards , V.J.

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  7 лет назад +1

      Vicky the flour in this video was from many coconuts. I don't even know how many now because what I do is: I make a batch of coconut oil or coconut milk, dry the chaff and set aside, make another batch, dry the chaff and keep then when I get a substantial amount, I grind into flour. So that quantity you got from 2 coconuts is normal, you did not do anything wrong. :)
      I do not recommend not grinding it into powder before use because you will have gritty bits in the food you prepare the chaff with, also, it will not form a smooth down if used in the chaff state.

    • @vickyiliaens1000
      @vickyiliaens1000 7 лет назад

      Hi thx , I really kept having it in my mind like " but didn't I do this all just like Flo showed ? yeah I did ? OMG no I must have skipped or missed something , lets go check that video again " , really :D , well I did make a cake with it so all is already gone , I guess you know the taste of that kinda cake too ;-) ahaa! havin' fun in my kitchen lately! bought new coconuts LOL :D ! But not enough yet for flour and I did at last grind it anyway but I did use a little tiny ieniemieni bit of the shaff I kept for extra decoration , delicious , come and join me next time :) ! it was kinda Nigerian ! and it tastes yummie :)) . Zoë wanted to add something too BTW ! ( a pretty white girl with straw hair and now havin' a bit of skincolour like mokka XD and with a big apetite and a big mouth too ahum,who's tha boss ) , so here another request to you Flo :) " do they also make in 'Nagaraya ' (I write it like it is said ! :p) those special cornflakes with krispies mum?" so upon request :) : is there a Nigerian Recipe that is like crispy quaker oats or just rice crispies at all ? she adores it (mum does too but not as much ) I was thinking about that question and about coconuts lol :) , kindest regards from Zoë and me :-) xxx
