I am not a silver surfer or a Thor fan. But Surfer #4 is one of the greatest covers ever created. Imagine if I was actually a fan of the characters. Really sucks for the FOMO guy who spent 33k on a 9.6 and has lost two thirds of his investment now.
When the Wolverine miniseries was published in 1982, I bought two copies of each issue off the rack because I knew it would have some resale value but wasn’t thinking forty years ahead that anyone would still care about them. (My favorite cover of the four issues is #3, with Logan sitting in the dark.)
I wish we had the space for TOTAL census counts, when I'm researching these videos I include all grades 9.0 and higher, and then whatever the lowest grade is. It means we miss out on the middle grades, unfortunately, but we can only show so much onscreen
The Silver Surfer #4 sale for $33,600 was a Heritage sale which is suspicious given all the market manipulation allegations they've been synonymous with over the years. NEVER put your maximum bid in early on any book as their employees are allowed to bid which will result in you paying much more than you should on said book. I learned this the hard way. I wait until the floor session to bid my maximum which prevents their employees from bidding and miraculously stopping just short of your max bid amount.
I love that classic Silver Surfer 4 cover. Also you can get a Fantasy Masterpieces 4 that reprints that classic cover that is Alot more affordable. Thanks Guys 😊
Too bad Paul Bettany was already Vision, he would have been an excellent choice as the surfer. Here’s a casting out of left field: Jacob Elordi. Only because he is a surfer, has the physique, and height lol.
I have heard people make the argument it is better to buy a Spider-Man trading card rather than a sports card because "Spider-Man will not blow out his knee". But the Rick and Morty thing shows that real life humans can still affect the value of comic characters.
I agree with that for sure. It’s like if a real life movie script writer wants to give Spider-Man a political agenda that alienates him from half the country and the producer okays it then hey Spider-Man can be ruined just like that as well 🤷🏽♂️
Re Surfer #4: crazy prices are generally achieved by high numbers of heavy bidders all competing for that one copy. There just aren't the same number of those whales around like there were 2 years ago. And remember, 11k is still a ton of dough for a 25¢ comic book :)

Worst looking CGC high grades come from Canada-in my opinion. Omega 3 seems to always be featured here. despite that it sells for about 350 in 9.8. Show some true classics like AMS 50
