You talk about kamuzu wanted dialogue with all. What about his dialogue with the people who opposed him? He was a dictator for so many years & a bit of a tyrant. There was no free speech. If you only half disagreed with him you would be deported or thrown into jail or also fed to the crocs. He was well educated but sadly power got the better of him.
