It's a dangerous combo being that big and fast at the same time. Even when he's not scoring trys, simply having Duhan on your team means that the other side has to put a huge amount of thought and effort into marking him and this often creates gaps in the defence for others to get through. The scary thing is he's young and still has lots of areas to improve on, mainly tackling and handling errors, imagine what he'll be like if he masters those aspects of his game too 😳
Nice cameo from Doc Robson at the 1:52 mark. Now there's a challenge for you a video with Dr James Robson haring up the touch line after the try scorer. Seem to remember he celebrating one of George North's tries for the Lions against Australia whilst being the only one to keep pace with the big lad. Or indeed anytime he rushed onto the pitch saving lives, Greenwood in 97, Monye in 2010.... But anyway nice collection of Johnny Bravo's tries. 😜
Might be a controversial opinion from a biased English supported - Van der Merwe's a great finisher but he's not a playmaker. As a winger, you can get away with it but it's almost like he's allergic to passing. It happened a number of times in SCO v IRE at the end of the Six Nations and a few times each game where he would either score or get turned/tackled into touch because he doesn't pass
You don't give him space he won't score. Only scores these against lesser (Italy etc) or out of form teams (England). I'm a Scot but he is a prime example of a big small game player
Yeah. If a defense is well organised, which is usually the case with tier 1 teams, single players will struggle to make an impact on their own. You need to use your full 15 to crack it open, as demonstrated by Ireland's attacks imo. Basically no x-factor flashy try scorers. Rather, a well organised 15, working together to move up the pitch
man...no offense to my scottish friends...but i wonder what a springbok or all blacks team would've been capable of unlocking if they had duhan in their team. i mean, in the sense of taking his raw talent and developing it to its fullest potential. i don't think the scotland coaching team has the ip to do so -and/or is capable of it. (that's just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt 😉 ) BUT, all credit to scotland for seeing the potential, taking a chance to bring him over and developing him to where he is today. they deserve every last bit of what they can get out of him and i hope that they find a way to take him to the next level. (i wonder what a race between him and pierre spies would've been like! ...or... imagine they played together, on the same team 😳 ) anyway, dvm is a future scotland legend in the making, imo.
It's strange but over the last 10 years I've seen far more wins against France and England than Wales and Ireland. I'd just love to see us win a six nations before I die. 25years I've lived and yet to see it.
If he could defend, he might have been an option for the Boks. But he leaks more tries than Raymond Rhule did. You notice in the Ireland game that it was actually Kinghorn covering the outside on that wing?
@@morris9337They got to 5 because everyone below them was shit and they managed to buy enough South Africans to bolster the handful of heritage players trained in other countries. Still have not beaten anyone of substance in 10 or more years. You just have to look at how they bowed out of the RWC without firing a shot to see where they really stand on the tier scale.

Hes not only an attacking threat either anymore, in the last 6 nations he put it so many good reads

As an Englishman I hate him. Which is a compliment
Man, you were not kidding. These are great bangers. Must be fair to argue that he's ZA's greatest rugby export.
I reckon he'd be constrained in the Bok gameplan. He's right where he should be. What a legend.

His game is absolutely not complete, but when you're that fast and that strong? Not a huge issue.
England: *breaths*
DvDM: "...... and i took that personally" 😂
He'd be a sick winger in the NRL.

ah worcester highlights how ive missed you
Your videos are bangers only 🔥
One of my favorite player.
DVDM is a player that can win you a game, but can also ghost massively
Truly a thing of beautie. If only toonie could learn him tae pass :')

He doesn’t fit the profile of what the Boks need from their wingers. He probably wouldn’t even start for them
Then bottles the must win games 😂😂😂
Tennent's comes in cans mate not bottles
Tuned up against England then we never saw him again …. Same old story. Keep it up and might come higher than 4th
Glass cannon
It's true!
He's like caucau on good shape lol
Thay all know that he is a fast runner so if there is a gap pass to him then try to the team 😊❤YES GO
Some bangers, but a bit of a highlight reel player. Overall not really quite top level - sort of a poor man's Jacob Stockdale.
South African's are more familiar with boerewors than bangers...
Man wouldn't pass the ball to save his mother though
Absolutely delighted he wears Edinburgh and Scotland shirts. SA's loss for sure.
Hes a one trick pony but when that one trick is scoring tries its pretty damn good
Goes missing against the big teams the same as Russell
I bet SA are gutted that he slipped through the net.
Nah, don't think so
Wouldn't make the squad
@@garyambrosini1427 agree. We look for players who can defend.
Genuine question to scottish fans, are you happy beating us and still finishing 4th? Or would you rather not beat us and finish higher?

@@Caledon1893 As a bok fan. I'll be rooting for your fellas the next 6 nations. Finn and him really do make for the most excellent rugby viewing
Very talented winger. Just needs to work on his passing in set plays
Need him in to try the NFL! He would do great
So good in open play but if they catch him its an almost guaranteed turnover. Great tries though
best winger in the world?
😂😂😂😂😂
mate can you please, pleeease stop with the music in the background! It's perfect apart from that!
But never against the top sides.
just found out how to pronounce his name lol
So did most of Scotland.
If you're wondering what language that is at 4:05, it's Irish.
too bad he plays for Scotland and will never achieve anything on a rugby field
Van der roider
Lions left wing
Such a shame hes wasted in a tier 2 team.
Tbf they were ranked top five recently

and he particularly hates england 🤣
