Hey guys thanks for joining me on this playthrough! I hope you enjoy the finale How many people do you think survived before you finish the video? Yes, I see the typo. No, I won't reupload the video LOL but I'll get better at proof reading
The flare gun plot is as follows: 1. Matt disagree with Emily about going to fire tower - he got the flare gun - he would not shoot the only bullet to sky - choose save Emily when the tower fell - dragged by wendigo - QTE to use flare gun to shoot the wendigo and saved 2. If Matt chose to not to save Emily and jump, then the above “butterfly effect” does not matter, Matt will be safe. 3. If Emily keep the flare gun herself, then she will shoot the wendigo when she was chased in the mine and she would not be bitten. So there will be no arguments about she will turn, etc. another butterfly effect
@@VideogameShayPlaysI wouldn’t mind seeing an alternate path on the channel. People hardly ever do it. I feel like you get more out of the game that way.
Thank you!!!! I really can’t figure out how I failed it. My hands like I said rest on a desk sometimes when I’m playing so I was certain that I wasn’t moving. I saw the slider moving and I was freaking out too 😭
Emily has the thickest plot armor! I think the persistence to save Emily is what kills mat. There’s only like 3 or so instances that Emily can be offed
Everyone except Sam and Mike can die in 2 chapters, and Emily has one of the earliest death opportunities that are super easy to get?? She has the third lowest plot armour, Jess/Matt have even less. The lodge deaths of Ash/Chris/Mike/Sam are very avoidable and Ash/Chris can only die in a single encounter prior to the lodge which they can both super easily survive
I mean NGL a lot of characters have heavy plot armor, and considering what he goes through, Mike has the thickest, since his only chance to die is like at the end. And he goes through the sanatorium twice and then through the mines and back. And nothing can kill him.
OH but I thought it was because I failed the initial “don’t move” though I swear I didn’t move! My hands were resting on the desk that’s how I play usually so I’m shocked I failed it
@@VideogameShayPlaysThey are getting confused with another playthrough where same runs out and flips the switch before like first out. This doesn't happen in your playthrough. Make is already a goner before this happens. He is suppose to break the light bulb with his hand and then run out.
1:12:47 Also, Jessica is very dead. If she was alive, (spoiler if you want to do an alternate path?) they would show Jessica finally waking up from the fall before cutting over to the find Mike gang.
8:46 I was going to say there was a totem there that warns you of danger right before entering lol, but I forgot that you’re playing the OG. I was like, “they’re running out of totem ideas” lol
Ya that was never explained well in the game the tutorial portion literally said don’t move. I did see it moving there and I tried to stay SO still but for some reason it kept sliding 😭 I didn’t know I had to correct it. I’ll forever say Mike’s death shouldn’t count 🙃
That's the new mechanic, the OG was don't move but it was very sensitive so your hand shaking, vibrate being on, the controller sitting funny when it begins, etc can all cause the fail
I don't think the game does well with trying to specify what you're supposed to do at the end. All the totems you see of people burning, that's what happens if Sam keeps choosing the "Run to switch" button. Mike and Sam are the final guy and girl, you can't kill them until the very end. If you "move" at the first don't move, Mike automatically dies. If the didn't move button worked on your first try and the game declared you didn't move, it's basically up to Mike and Sam to make sure everyone else is out of the lodge, that's why as Sam you should never go for the "run to switch" option, if you always hide, it gives time for every other character to get out. And if you kill Sam, Mike is the one that hits the switch.
Oh thanks for that! Ya the game doesn’t do well with anything tbh I played so cautiously because I thought I could die from fall damage or if I took the wrong turn. I didn’t realize it’s actually very easy to not die in this game. I even avoided touching some of the clues bc I thought they would explode and burn me like the totems said 😭 (yet somehow I managed to touch the hand saw one)
Awesome playthrough, Shay! I really enjoyed this, and I'm happy to see that you seem to have liked the game a lot. There isn't any official word on a sequel, though apparently Sony wants to turn it into a franchise which was part of the motivation for the remake. The Quarry is often considered a "spiritual" sequel, since it's by the same developer and has the same sort of gameplay, though it's a totally unconnected story. Your dislike of the Don't Move mechanic is totally understandable. It seems like a good idea, but the controllers are just too sensitive to any movement at all. In the original game, people would usually cheat those moments by just putting the controller down on their desk and not touching it at all. I think the remake actually makes you automatically fail if it doesn't detect any movement at all, and I believe the PS5 controllers are even more sensitive to movement than the PS4 controllers, so the Don't Move sections are even harder. The Dark Pictures games get rid of the Don't Move mechanic and replace it with something simpler, so don't worry about having to deal with it in those games. Matt's death is kind of cheap, as it's so difficult to prevent unless you either know what causes it or happen to select the correct sequence of choices accidentally. Most of the other deaths are due to something happening at the time when the character dies and you simply make the wrong choice or miss a quick time event or something else obvious. Matt's death doesn't work quite like that and fans have always felt it was unfair, particularly since you can give him the flare gun like you're supposed to and he can still die so it's confusing. Can't wait to see what you'll be playing next!
Putting the controller on the desk does not always work. There were multiple playthroughs of people doing this and it still went off. When it says don't move it don't typically mean that. It actually expects you to balance it in the center as the blue light shifts a bit.
Yeah, sadly the stranger always dies and Josh either becomes a wendigo or dies, so no happy ending for him. And yes the rest can survive. For Chris the game intentionally doesnt leave you enough time to second guess yourself (you're definitely not the first person i see to start aiming at the wendigo and rhen see the barrels, but by then its too late. Matt is also rough to survive cause if you agree to go to the watchtower and/or Emily keeps the flare gun, and then you try to save Em he's dead. And yeah for Mike the dont move is finicky, so yeah theres that too.
Not true. I've seen several people do this in their playthrough and still failed it. It says don't move but sometimes it really means keep blue part centered because it slightly starts to shift.
I wish they would have explained that in the tutorial. I can’t recall if you guys can see the sheer panic on my face or if I held it in well enough but when I saw the triangle drifting and it says don’t move I was like WTF DO YOU MEAN DONT MOVE IM NOT MOVING!
Emily really isn't a bad character. She was by far the smartest and had the best ideas. Yeah she was mean to her BF but if you actually took her side for things she was actually really worried about Matt's survival.
Fun watch you did pretty good your first time. Now if you haven't played it I recommend Detroit Become Human its a short decision based game 8-10 hours or something similar to this but it isn't horror but has a great story and worth playing for sure. Detroit Become Human sounds VERY fun! Also thanks for watching! I was really sad about the characters in this episode bc both were a technicality. @VideogameShayPlays haha not the aim, your aim seems good. I just meant.. you know how the game is like "sometimes doing nothing is the right thing to do", well in this case it doesn't matter whether you shoot or not. I'm talking of the section starting at 57:30 I mean the first shot was at a small box (I doubt there's a wendigo inside of it :P ) and then a lot of the shots were at wendigos either behind bars or that were chained up, so shooting them does nothing but anger them. That's what I meant by "good thing the game doesn't punish for wasting ammo" cause if the game makers decided to be cruel they could have added an ammo count so that if you shoot too many subdued wendigos you run out, or maybe shooting could have drawn more attention. (Again that's not a thing, but well that's what I'm saying good thing that's not the case) And to be fully fair some characters can die from much less. XD
