This comment is old, but as someone who have training singing at least 7 years, and had Taylor Momsen as my number one inspiration, I can tell you that she is indeed shifting the sounds here and there to make it more beautiful. Try to sing out 'aaaah', and then an 'ooooh'. No matter what quality it is, 'a' will be sharp, and 'oh' will be soft. Her main style is rock, which in itself is a lot of sharp sounds. So if you listen to her process, you will notice that she can end words in 'i-eeeh' or 'a-ooh' or something akin to that. :P
I was reminded of this song back when Hershel in the Walking Dead said to Rick: "I can't profess to understand God's plan, but when Christ promised a resurrection of the dead, I just thought he had something a little different in mind."
I relate well to this song. Up until this past Thursday, I worked at Spirit Halloween - my most favorite store in the world - and I heard this song played there quite a lot. But I have severe social anxiety and panic disorder, and I was too timid around customers, so they fired me. I've always had the most rotten luck with jobs and I just feel dead inside.
@Sister Grimm Things have gotten much better since I made this comment. My doctor put me on medication for my anxiety, and it's been months since I had a panic attack. I'm not numb, per se, but I can handle things a lot better than I could before. I wish you the best of luck on your job, and that you'll be able to handle it. But don't force yourself if you're not ready. Those that care will understand. I'm currently out of work for medical reasons not relating to anxiety, and even though it's frustrating sometimes, my sister loves me and understands. 💜💜💜
