I was thinking maybe you need to shake the bottles as they have been sitting in the sun and who knows since when but then if it smells off too then definitely product has gone bad or it’s fake!
Giving you an example me being from Nagaland alcohol is prohibited so what people are doing here is that they usually used chemical and red colour thing to make alochol.. infact making a fake alochol inorder to sell to the customer..althought the smell and the consistency are similar to the orginal alcohol but still people are drinking...with time they left the earth sonner then later..so like wise in delhi chir bazar they usually used sinilar chemical in cheaper rated and sell it to the customer in a low price...and since the chemial are usually of poor quality there are high chances that one will face consequences in the long run...
