This was my review/challenge of the infamous Last Dab hot sauce made with Pepper X. It was hot but the heat isn't what surprised me. It tasted much better than I was expected! I would have liked it to be hotter but it is still a very tasty sauce.

No problem! I tried some on a chip on Tuesday at a friends party. It was the hottest sauce I have ever tasted personally. I was like... "Who brought this stuff?" Lol. My mouth was burning for like 10 minutes and felt like smoke was coming out of my ears. It sure did clear my sinuses! Haha.
Chase The Heat I don't thing the sauce has a rating of 3 mil. The peppers used to make it supposedly have that, but as a sauce it's bound to be less. It should, in theory at least, be above 2 mil.
They should get you on the show, and instead of having Low heat to high. You should do High heat to extremely high heat. I want to see Sean show his pain, he holds his composure very well.

The 3 mil scoville rating was for the Pepper X mash tested which was used in the sauce. Not the sauce itself.

I’ll tell ya I got a bottle of this last dab sauce and its hot bro. I would say that the flavor is definitely better than the heat, but that says a lot about the flavor cuz this stuff is seriously hot. I don’t understand how he jus did that whole bottle. I do a small drizzle on my chili dogs
I know I'm late, but I've had two different bottles of the last dab, and they were vastly different heat-wise. I'm guessing it's because they're made in such small batches. But you're right, burns are all different. Also, I think the price will go down once pepper becomes more available. It's a delicious sauce either way.
I know I'M late... but Sean has actually mentioned in a video that the pepper x pepper itself keeps evolving and has gotten hotter, and hes mentioned that the color has changed a but. So it's the pepper itself that is changing color.

Johnny you are the absolute king of the world with eating hot peppers. I think the latest shipments with the last dab have been cut with different peppers other than pepper x to keep up with the demand. The sauce should be green but it's orange and you can see little red peppers in the sauce. Pepper x is a green pepper. I got one myself that is orange and not at all near 3 million scoville, I'd put it close to habanero Scoville heat. I think people are getting cheated. It is a good tasting sauce however.

i tasted this stuff, and it was just a drop. i wasn't really coughing or gagging but i think if you looked at my face, you'd easily see that i was uncomfortable. this dude just ate the whole bottle and you can't even tell that there's anything different about him.

If this is a 5/10 on your scale. What the heck is a 10??
In the 90's i bought a dark red box (asian brand) that contained chili powder, it had a warning label on it and just said extremely hot. I wasn't really thinking much about it, i just wanted some spice for cooking. And it was cheap. I remember i was cooking spaghetti, and i had this brilliant idea to spice those up. So put one t-spoon of that powder in 2 liters of boiling water with about 500g of spaghetti. When it was done and me and my friend sat down to eat we almost shat ourselves. The spaghetti was so hot it was like eating acid. We had no chance eating more than 1 fork of spaghetti, then we were knocked out.
Turns out this spice was 10 million+ units. And we added only 1 t-spoon in 2 liters of water.
I believe it has to be something along the lines of a literal tongue melting burn.

Great question. Scoville Organoleptic Test or Scoville Scale. To perform the Scoville OrganolepticTest, an alcohol extract of capsaicin oil from a dried pepper is mixed with a solution of water and sugar to the point where a panel of taste-testers can barely detect the heat of the pepper. Yep, and to add to that, it's my understanding that detection is parts per sugar water, so for example, if something were 1,000,000 Scoville, the heat could, at least in theory, be detected in one part per million of water, i.e., 1 equal drop of the sauce (or whatever) and 999,999 drops of sugar water.
In my opinion it isn't a perfect comparison for tasted heat though, as there are other aspects of preparation and delivery that affect the taste significantly. For example, I have some home made dried habanero chili powder that I'm sure most pepper heads would agree is damn hot if they tasted a spoonful of it (bitter, slightly sweet, floral, and fruity intense mouth and tongue burn), even though it wouldn't likely test all that high in terms of Scoville units - maybe a quarter million to a half million, if I had to guess.
I think it has to do with how the flavor displaces other flavors and diluents and is absorbed onto taste buds, nerve receptors, and thin walled skin.
In the case of this sauce, mustard will mix with both water and oil and can actually be used to better blend oil and water based sauces. This _might_ make it easier to wash away the heat with saliva.
That being said, this sauce does seem to be coming up well short of the claim of 2.4 million Scoville units for the sauce specifically based on taste tests I've seen so far, and I've heard that there can be a fair bit of inconsistency between bottles of the sauce as well in terms of heat, so we'll see how it and Pepper X perform over longer production runs.
Apologies for the wall of text. Yes, I'm a bit of a nerd and scientist with my hobbies and day jobs, but hopefully this helps sort some things out for those wondering about heat and taste tests.

Anyway, maybe it burns less than some others with less Scoville because it has no salt, unlike most other hot sauces? Not sure, just a hypothesis, more likely it's tolerance.
