This also fixed my issue. I bought a new filter and housing and my Aprilaire 700 was still leaking. So I cleaned out the bottom of the insert and I cleaned and removed all the hardwater buildup on the drain and it finally started working properly. I would say to just get a brand new housing/filter if you have build-up as bad as the video. Thanks for posting this video! Helpful 2 years later for sure.
My leak was related to the small valve that opens to supply hot water from the warm water tank. All it took was a little tightening of one of the ends.
I just got the entire cartridge and plastic assembly for $30 for my model 700, when a replacement was $25 I said screw it and cleaning everything. I also installed a in line filter going before the unit to eliminate the hard water build it.
Great video, you rock :) I was not snapping the panel frame in as I should (great tip, thanks) but my leak ended up being from the small valve that opens to supply hot water from the warm water tank. All it took was a little tightening of one of the ends. Plus I cleaned up everything and put in a new panel. Wew.
Did everything you suggested. Mine still leaks. Apparently a different cause. I even replace the piece at the bottom that the plug on the tray fits into. No luck.
@@ramanaa88 Not sure yet. I ordered their maintenance kit although I can't imagine what could be leadking. However I turned the pressure down on the valve that feeds it and seems to be working OK. Has been full open for years and never had an issue so don't know what to make of it.
I have a similar looking Honeywell unit that started leaking. After struggling to find the issue, I've determined that it was caused by the water spray at the top of the filter. Turns out these units have a tiny orifice to restrict the water flow while running. When this wears out and enlarges the orifice, it is just too much water going into the system, and they leak. There are replacement kits available.
Hi, great video, but I'm having trouble with the "valve" that the water line goes into. How do I replace that? Do you have a video that shows how to replace the "valve"?
I replaced the pad but my tubing was so brittle that it cracked. Can I get replacement tubing at a hardware store? Do you know the diameter of the tubing?

Thank you. Could not fix the leaks after watching several videos until yours and the mentioning of click sound when pushed in in the filter housing...

Thank you for this comment
Saved my time and confusion

Found the leak. thanks!
Seems the old filter was falling apart and clogged the drain. That will do it :D

did you figure out what the cause was?

That's what I ended up doing and it did take care of it. Thanks for sharing. Rick @@bwthor

I was hoping you were going to show us how to replace that black hose because that's my problem the black hose is broken and it needs to be replaced
Great video 😊 Thank you very much for your sharing!!!!!
Can I just replace the black hose that the water gets drip on or do I need a whole service part
To shut the water off, turn the bar to the right ... How far, don't want to break it off. Will this stop dripping?
You should be able to feel a stopping point when shutting the water off, but be careful if it doesn't feel right. Might need to call a plumber if so.
You weren’t supposed to scrub the sandy grit off the top tray. That’s what causes the water to distribute evenly across the panel.

@user-ei7ii9eu7f Just shut the unit off and take it to the store with you. I’ve had to replace mine before. It does dry out and crack over time.
keeps flooding the floor even with changing the pad
You were NOT suppose to scrape the distribution tray!!
Himpulitis!!!🙃
