Now that Daggerfall Unity is a thing it’s up there as one of the top contenders for best Elder Scrolls games. It’s crazy how advanced the game’s systems are. Despite the fact that the SUPER MAJORITY of the game is procedurally generated it has so much life thanks to the writing, quests, and dynamic faction system. It’s so crazy what the devs were able to do back in the 90s. Now thanks to the Unity port so many of the game’s flaws have been smoothed over, and mods can greatly enhance the experience (compare that with Starfield where it’s also procedurally generated, but completely lacks a soul😂). If you want a similar experience to Daggerfall you should follow this cool project called Wayward Realms that’s being made by the original guys who created Daggerfall. The game will have massive amounts of procedural generation, but thanks to really cool writing, a bunch of deep rpg systems, and a dynamic faction system like what Daggerfall has. It’s going to be really cool to see how that game turns out. Also, modding will play a big role in the game, so just like Bethesda games when you get board of the main thing you’ll be able to edit it to your heart’s content.

Glad you liked it. You can get Daggerfall for free on different platforms. You’ll want to do the Unity version (you’ll need the base game because it ports everything to that engine) or if you want to try out the DOS version get the mods that fix the controls and a lot of the game breaking bugs that can kill/softlock you. I sadly haven’t tried it yet. Definitely NEED to so I can experience the greatness. It’s pretty crazy just how advanced the game is. There’s also this thing called OpenMW that’s an open source version of Morrowind that allows for all kinds of stuff that’s not possible with the original.
