I decided to do a little research on this actually. The demon slayer characters are short compared to people nowadays, because demon slayer takes place in the Taisho era, which is 1912 to 1926. The average male at that time was about 5'3, the average female was 4'11. So tanjiro being 5'5 at 15 is like a 6'0 15 year old equivalent for today's standards(American). The author really managed to capture the taisho era right, the clothing, the house style, the height of people, and more. Demon slayer is truly a great story.
