Tim, I have watched this entire series multiple times. Best armwrestling instructional material on RUclips! I understand that the tyrannical government basically forced you to leave Hawaii which angers me tremendously. Will you be making any more videos in the near future? Hope you’re doing well wherever you’re living now! Thank you for all of the content you have made!
Hi Constantinos. Thanks for the question. My answer is below- HIGH HAND AND LOW HAND - I have videos on high hooks and low hooks, both of which have different attacks and grips and setups. The high Hook necessitates a high grip (meaning strong radial flexion) and a Low Hook can attack lower down on the hand to attack the pronator muscle of the opponent and not as much against the bicep. The high Hook is a better transition move for me, to turn into a top roll or something else. A low hook will attack lower on the hand to put pressure against your opponents rotation ability. My general move against a strong to rolling opponent would be a low hook to attack his pronation instead of competing against his hands and fingers. Your ‘high hand’ position is only good if you’re stronger than your opponent in that area. If he’s stronger than you, you need to adjust to beat him. Please make sure to watch my videos on low hooks and high hooks and I’ll explain the differences. Generally speaking, having a “high hand” (strong radial flexion) is the right thing to do. There are instances where having a high hand is not the best thing to do such as in the case of the low hook, low hand top roll and Dead Wrist pressing. I hope this helps!! Thanks again Constantine. Best of luck with your arm wrestling in the future!!
Hi Trayton. Thanks for the comment! I appreciate it very much. Please let me know if you have any questions about the material. Best of luck with your arm wrestling in the future!
A lot of good insight in these videos, and it really helps to see it from both sides. I see that you're busy, but any chance you'll be back on the scene and upload more?
Hi Grip. Thanks for the great comments. I'm busy but I've come out of retirement and I'm ready to start competing on a world level again. I'm going to start with the State Championships, National Championships and then the WAF World Championship over the next few years hopefully. SO, to answer you question, I WILL be coming out with another video series mostly based around training methods and my brand of table top training and specialized equipment. I'll also let people into my world so they can see me training hard and preparing for top competition. It should be fun for the viewers and I can't wait to start competing again and sharing my journey and tactics along the way. Stay tuned Grip...Best of luck for now brother!! Big Mahalo from Hawaii.
@@armwrestlingsecrets That's so awesome to hear! I got into the sport about a year ago and this video series was a big help. I'm subscribed and looking forward to following the journey!
I really like your videos they are extremely informative and instructional. Will you be continuing to make new videos because I noticed these videos are three years old. They are some of the most instructional ones out there so I hope you continue. With the new app Armbet I think the arm wrestle community will grow tremendously. Along with that your channel would too.
Hi Drew. Thanks for the great comments man. I’m glad this helps!! If you can apply many of the things on this series to match your own style and strengths, you can be VERY SUCCESSFUL. My only advice is that if you’re going to go pro at some point, be prepared for a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL OF STRENGTH. The pro arm wrestlers are very dedicated, very strong, very knowledgeable, very aggressive and very savvy at the table. Competing and being successful at pro arm wrestling will take everything you have, and just as much dedication as any other pro sport. If you love arm wrestling and you want to try to be the best, then try pro competition when you’re ready. Careful listening to amateurs in the meantime too, because they have LOTS of bad habits. My advice if you want to take it to the next level (besides watching this series a few dozen times 😀) is find the BEST arm wrestlers around and start training with them. Best of luck with your arm wrestling in the future brother!! 🤙
I have a question: is there any outside hook variation? In my case inside and side pressure variations hurt my rotator cuffs. So I always go with outside/back pressure moves ( top rolling ) and I would like to know if there is a hook variation for outside/back pressure wrestlers. Good channel by the way. Keep the good work!!!
Hi Akash. Thanks for the question. Wrist curls will DEFINITELY improve your hooking power. Make sure to watch Part 17-The Training Section, in order to see the best exercises for strengthening your hook. Thanks again for the question and best of luck with your arm wrestling!!
Thanks! I appreciate the comment very much. Please let me know if you have any questions at all about the material in the video series. Best of luck with your arm wrestling!!
Hi Major Tom. Thanks for the question. My answer to your question is below - TABLE CURLS ? - First off, what do YOU consider a table curl? Using free weights, bands, cables, pulleys? Please let me know what you do and I'll tell you right away if it's a good arm wrestling exercise. Thanks man!! Talk to you soon.
How to Win at Arm Wrestling I consider Table curls to be a dead weight movement and hence use a fat grip dumbbell, my record is 60kg RH from exactly parallel at 75kg BW at 6ft3. You may have seen some of my matches on RUclips as i pull WAL and WAF occasionally. I don't use much gym training for AW, mostly table time with heavier guys.
Hi Major Tom. Thanks for the clarification. My answer to your question in below - A dead weight dumbbell on the table is NOT a very good exercise for building realistic defensive hooking strength. The reason is because you aren't getting ANY of the additional rotational forces, or forward or backward forces generated by a real arm wrestling match. (You know what I mean.) No back pressure and no side pressure. This dumbbell exercise will certainly build some limited static position bicep and wrist strength, but it's no good for realistic arm wrestling because the weight is just being pulled straight down by gravity, and is not MIMICKING a real arm wrestling match because the weight is NOT changing direction, which doesn't force you to react in a realistic way. ** Building a strong arm wrestling base using dumbbells, bars and cables to build forearm, bicep and wrist strength is obviously still a huge part to becoming stronger on the table, but you'll always get better results practicing your defensive hook on the arm wrestling table....against a real arm wrestler. Weights, cables, pulleys and bands can be great for building GENERAL strength in all the body parts, but they DO NOT mimic arm wrestling. DEFENSIVE HOOK STRENGTH - Keep doing what you're doing with heavier opponents. That's the best way to train!! Since you're competing at the pro level, then in my professional opinion you should focus on training the defensive hook against stronger opponents with them obviously in the offensive hook position. That will give you the best results for your competitions. FINAL THOUGHTS - YOUR TRAINING - The more you can mimic arm wrestling in your training the better. If you can REPLICATE it in your training, then that's the best. If you have people you can train with, try working your defensive hook HARD at least once a week against some of your training partners. If your goal is honestly to get stronger building your defensive hook in a practical and realistic way against real opponents on a real arm wrestling table, then the very best way to train is to actually work your defensive hook against real opponents on a real arm wrestling table. That's my best advice. Best of luck with your arm wrestling in the future Tom!!

Hi Kyle. Thanks for the questions man. Are you a competitive tournament arm wrestler? Please let me know when you get the chance.
