I've owned many Rogers in my time. My favourite was a 70's script 24, 12,13,14,16,18 kit that I stripped off the unrepeatable wrap, stained black and powder coated all the chrome satin black. It was the best sounding kit I had at the time. A guy heard me playing it and offered too much money to say no, so I sold it. Much love for old Rogers here.
priced a little high for Asian drums...I have a 62 Cob Dyna, 67 Cob Powertone, 67 Luxor that color matches my 67 Blue Sparkle set, and a 72 Super Ten......Rogers The Cadillac of Drums !
Such a rubbish comment. Why do people instantly throw anything ‘Made in Asia’ under the bus?! Yamaha are made in China and previously made in Japan. Pearl are Taiwanese. The Rogers parent company have extensive shell building know how and technology. What you’re getting is an excellent shell. They’re made using american materials and then shipped to US to be built buy Pork Pie. Again, a very accomplished drum builder. ‘Asian built’ shouldn’t immediately elicit disregard. It’s quite insulting to those people making those shells, drums, hardware who go to work every day to do the best job they can. I agree there are a lot of problems with quality control and cheap manufacturing all over Asia but it’s easy to discern good from bad.. and these aren’t bad. At all. They just don’t have the prestige of a vintage Rogers set.
I dunno man, they sound FANTASTIC. I've watched a few other videos of the Covington series and the Cleveland series and they both have resonant, rich sound with a low fundamental. These are the perfect sounding drums to me personally. Too bad I can't afford them LOL.
It's really hard these days to make a bad drum. It really is. There is also a point at which your no longer paying for quality but nostalgia. I love vintage Rogers but this particular set fell into that nostalgia category for me pretty quickly. But if you love them, you love them; and no price is too high... keep saving mate.
I am glad that Rogers are back as I grew up playing them. What I don’t understand is the cost. As most would agree , “Asian made” does not mean poor quality. Gretsch Renown and the Gretsch Catalina kits are amazing and budget friendly. Rogers could easily produce a intermediate budget friendly shell pack that is actually produced in Asia. It would grow the brand. Unfortunately, it seems they are geared at selling nostalgia.
thanks, nice review. but do I want to spend 7000 on drums and then fight overtones away or try to compensate the lack of "body " with head combinations?.. well, not sure
So basically it's a TAIWAN drum kit assembled and finished by Bill Detmore/ owner of pork pie drums in the USA.Not made in the USA,assembled in the USA. Amazing how people can be so hung up on a brand name from years ago that they will pay this price tag. The badge should say assembled in the USA. For what there asking for them,,you can buy a set of Ludwig classic,or gretsch USA for less money that truly are made in the USA.Good luck with the reissue.
@@KillerDrumsTV they're a UK company. If you Google Code drum heads u should find them. Amazing quality. I'm using code law on batter side of Tom's and Dna clear on bottom. Love your work guys. Love from Wales UK
hint: set the bd pedal to hit 1-2 cm above center.. will give a fuller sound with less rebound issues.. weird but true. Hihat clutch: is cool. But lets give credit to those deserving it: Gibraltar SC-QRHH. Which is actually a better design as the tightening screw locks harder with less effort. Just pressing the tightening screw in against the rod is not really a good design. It was back in 1960.. not in 2022
Yes! Then this is true. I love modern gretsch, the old ones are reverted but when you put those on the workbench you soon realise that nostalgia can make a person overlook many things. I love the Broadkaster the most.
Yes, Rogers is back with a new cheap Taiwanese makeover. So much hype and promise, but essentially a failed concept. Hoping there’ll be another change of ownership so they can do justice to a once legendary kit.
Beautiful Kit ,good to see Rogers back
There is something very special about old Rogers drums.
Thank you for this 'Killer Review' Jackie Barnes and Killer Drums TV :) Cheers PMA - Rogers Drums Distributors in Australia
You’re welcome ProMusic, that’s for comment.
Nice sounding kit. i just refurbished a 1966 Covington Holiday kit in BDP. sweet.
Thanks for keeping the oldies alive and kicking Mark.
Drums look and sound fabulous. Nice drumming too. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for saying.
I have to admit the Rogers are the overall best sounding drums out there. I my opinion, I should add

Asian Made Shells - then
the kit is Finished off in the USA FYI - cheers PMA ( distributors of Rogers Drums in Australia )
My starclassic is “Asian made” and it kicks the shit out every American made kit I’ve ever owned.

He probably sent this, on his Asian made Apple Smartphone , or Samsung Galaxy 🙄
Yes! Possibly, but in Australia, all drums are expensive, it's that Pacific Ocean tax.
Dream kit and cymbal setup right there!
Stop dreaming and go buy it.
Life's too short for dreams.
@@KillerDrumsTV I hear ya, but dreams cost money! Will get it one day!

Once again Rodgers is the best sounding drums Olin the world
Glad you liked it "Roger"
i actually own a 2020 Rogers Covington kit exactly like this one. I picked it up used recently for a good price
Cool. Other than this kit, all my Rogers have been old ones and not one disappointed. Regardless of the abuse or errors of it's age.
Beautiful kit and playing! I'd love to have heard a 16x16 with the kit and also suspend the tom, rack with rims!! Thanks
Yeah That would be cool!
I'm a Ufip guy too. I'm using class series atm with great satisfaction
I used class exclusively for a decade. Love their clean tone. Cheers Tony

Good thoughts there James.

Yes, that was our thinking. Nostalgia blinds a person only so far.
How many kits do you own Jackie ?
That’s a killer snare..👍🏿
Between Jackie and I we own all the drums in Australia.
Oh yea love Ufip's! Sound great as well...not enough people sell them!
True, they are so musical

But after Listening to the reviews from Rogers experts in the US,they sound very close to the Covington drums well done Rogers and bill detamore.
Rogers. The USA Tama

More expensive than Gretsch Brooklyn's with less size and finish options 😅

This kit looks pink lol
It felt pink too.
Roland has taken over DW, so new SLINGERLANDS looking shaky.
Thanks Rod, yes crazy times in drum land.
Imposters. Rogers is dead.

I own vintage Rogers and love them; but struggled with this. Kind regards Tony
