Deion didn't say anything that the HBCU institutions or most SWAC and JSU fans didn't already know. They knew because they are SWAC. The SWAC has been around for 99 years and JSU for 145. People know their short comings. It's no different than him knowing he has been shacking in fornication for 10 years with a girlfriend, but has not corrected the problem even though it grieves God. So just like HBCUs haven't dealt with their issues, neither has he. He was tooting his own horn while in the spotlight like he always does. *"But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."* *(Matthew 6: 3-4)* He was taking a parting shot at the JSU president because he wouldn't give him all the keys to the university.

Yes sir, he did "sell out" stadiums and if I heard correctly when he checked the books, since he's was supposed to get a part of the tickets sales, the money did not reflect the over 60,000 in attendance. It showed more like 20,000. I wonder who else would stay, after investing his own money, time, family, connections, and energy into a program, only to get taken advantage of(robbed, literally)? I'm certain from the feedback already. Coach Prime will "sell out" the big boy stadiums as well. I dont remember hearing anyone or group offering to pay him back with from success(millions made) or even getting a bonus extension or offer for a successful program 🤔 which most coaches get for winning. But I guess some people would prefer to continue to stay in an abusive situation rather than leave? 🤷🏿‍♂️

I’m not going to lie. The level of consciousness he’s bringing is next level. I went to an HBCU, Norfolk State University, before going into the military. So, at first I wanted him to stay at JSU for the kids. As a Black man who didn’t grow up with my dad, I would’ve loved to have someone like Coach Prime pouring into my life. Fast forward, I moved to Colorado as a pastor and used to serve a 99 white congregation in the oldest church in Boulder. Then, at the beginning of this year, I felt God called me to leave the pastor role. But, I felt like I had to stay here. We have a very small Black community that has been trying to strengthen and support one another. A Black woman filmmaker even co-directed a documentary about being Black in Boulder. Thousands of people on the CU campus have been watching it and asking what it will take to live into the Shift we’re trying to make. I was asked to apply for a high-up diversity position at CU and I said no because I didn’t think there had been a significant enough disruption for the campus to hear what I had to say and not fire me. After listening to this, I think Prime is the disruption we’ve been praying for. So, now I’m psyched that he’s coming and bringing folks with him. BTW, I grew up part time in Pascagoula and Moss Point, MS and came to Colorado from Atlanta. So, I know what kind of shock they are about to feel. So pray for them.

People don't know and or understand the business and politics of big-time college football. Over the past three seasons, JSU became a football POWERHOUSE. Me from the outside looking in, I imagined he had major internal issues, and he just confirmed it. That is extremely difficult to manage while you're simultaneously trying to progress your program forward and uplight your people. Most people are not wired to handle the type of exposure Prime commands; they think they are until it arrives. As you heard, he did a lot - but wanted to do so much more. He is only the football coach, real change starts at the TOP, not the top of the football program. It won't matter what Prime says or does - if you are a negative person, not a forward thinker, and have crab mentality, you don't have the mental capacity to fully digest this interview. Most of what Prime said during his very insightful interview went in one ear, through that empty space in your head and out the other side. He was addressing adults that had legitimate questions and provided clarity to those that could remove emotions from this issue.

I'm glad Deion called out the systemic dysfunction within the leadership at our institution(s) who lack vision that parallels the content of what he said in this press conference. For YEARS, the vision to elevate JSU beyond the standard of the SWAC has been just a dream for a lot of us. We've seen team after team out of conference play us, and eventually go on and elevate their schools to more competitive levels in sports and increased enrollment and revenue. Yet - we stay the same...It's apparent that he's frustrated with "small minded" thinking that has stagnated HBCU's for years. I'm a product of TheeILove and a serious professional... For example, all one has to do to is look at the lack of planning and coordination of something as simple as coordinating traffic patterns for the gameday experience (at the Vet). It's been that way for YEARS. But yet we boast about having the best avg attendance in FCS. While all the while giving our dedicated and loyal fan base subpar service to truly have a gameday experience.
SO - for Deion to come in and work tirelessly to use his celebrity, vision, and talents to provide the roadmap in marketing and on the field to take our program to the top in three years is something we all should show our gratitude. I know he's thankful the opportunity. JSU gave him an opportunity to blow up - and he did.
    I wish the brother well.

I'm not done... If we (black Americans) cannot elevate our vision of what we'd like to see a people aspire to be, and inspire young minds at an institution of higher learning that there is another standard, a better standard, then. "Our institutions should demonstrate organization and excellence to the student body that you don't have to accept generalized/marginalized disenfranchisement that society expects you to accept just because of the color of your skin. You don't have to be the biggest school, but no matter what size your school, EVERYTHING should be done in excellence that you could do within the constraints of your financial abilities.

Him saying “you will find out more after we leave” is saying something bigger influenced his decision to leave. 15:24 His answer to why he left pretty much means the rumor of Jackson State stealing his bonus money for boosting ticket sales by 30% is true. And the rumors that Jackson State didn’t want to invest their own money into a lot of their resources is crazy. The school was traveling by bus to almost every game before Prime got there. They had trash locker rooms, no field to practice on. Did you know they said he had to pay for pretty much all the meals for his teams every game week? Crazy. He pretty much saying that it’s not going to get any better for those kids there anytime soon until HBCUs all come together and help each other. Since Prime is leaving all of his endorsements are too. He pretty much just finishing for the kids. He know a lot of them had fathers that left them.
