Over a year ago, I set out to make a very ambitious, sentimental track. It... didn't work very well, and I managed to accomplish this better with plenty of other tracks. But I nevertheless promised to finish the song, mostly because working on other tracks while this one began to fester was starting to weigh on me. So, over a year after we started, here's the song, warts and all.

I can't see into the commenter's mind, but their comment was left around the time the artist came out as transgender. The song hits different because it's not just about depression or about self-loathing or whatever people people might have gotten out of it: It's also about dysphoria. It's about the fear of what comes next, the fear of rejection, the fear that you might be wrong. Will transition change who I am? Will that be a good thing, or a bad thing? Will it change how people see me, how people react to me?
This is a song about being trans, whether the artist intended it or not at the time.

I'm glad you like the track! The thing that happened was, in late May 2021 I came out as a woman! Named Jessa! So this song was one of a few that turned out to be kinda hinting that I haven't been cis/a guy. ^^;
