    I have had chronic back pain since a failed surgery 9 years ago. I'm not afraid to move my back and have been exercising on my own but I'm not sure exactly what I need to be doing. Unfortunately, my husband lost his job but as soon as he finds another one I am going to try your program. I have watched several of your videos and have really been enjoying them, thank you! I am tired of just existing and want to get back to living!!

    Very timely for me. Experiencing flare right now. I experienced this pretty much every year at this time during the gardening season.. would love to be able to not have this issue thoughout the gardening season every year, which makes me want to stop gardening .
    This talk is inspirational .Gardening is a part of what makes me, “me”! And so is exercising! ( keeping my body strong) So Glad I found SMM while down with Covid. It gave me hope and lots of laughs. I had felt so discouraged during the last 10 months ( 6 months after I started SMM) due to things in my life (illness, injuries, thinking I was going to die…) but I have not given in- not giving up! Got lazy with SMM during this time but I’m back now. Slower paced and allowing my body and brain to relearn movement and gain strength.
    Thanks ❣️

    Hi Tom, your approach has helped me loads, particularly with regard to not being scared of pain. I've got though a couple of disc related flare ups with it. I recently broke a rib surfing, and it hurts like hell! I found the old pain fears creeping back in, and I really noticed that my back started feeling vulnerable again. I'm convinced it was linked to the general pain fear. Anyway, some Hip mobility and a good taking to has helped it. However, I'd like to try and maintain core strength whilst I'm hurting with the cracked rib. Any ideas for some low intensity core exercises I might be able to manage for maintenance whilst I fix?
    Thanks again

    • @TomMorrison

      Definitely a tricky one when trying to heal that, doing lots of lunges will be a good help for your back and you won’t need any torso movement then!

    dealing with pain for 13 yrs after a torn disc and then 7 yrs plus of si joint pain/ql pain/hip pain is that the fear of pain/future pain is actually worse than the incidents that come as you are constantly bracing for no reason avoiding things that shouldn't be etc, its a horrible aspect on its own,

    I have a slight disk protrusion in my neck (C6-7) that's seemingly been the culprit in headaches and neck tension for 2 years now. It seems to radiate to or from the levator scapula and upper traps as well? The pain can be unbearable, or at least sore and constant enough to keep me from going out. It really can be disheartening mentally, so I'm glad you guys can relate. Especially the dreaded flareups and wanting to quit for good. The first 6 months I didn't do much of anything at all, then slowly found my way to being able to do things. The pain can really mess with your emotions!
    I'm told (chiro, PT, and a surgeon) perhaps it's an imbalance in muscles in the neck, and a side effect of the protrusion - running/jumping can aggravate things and cause inflammation and pain as well. I stopped going to them as it is expensive and hasn't been helping.
    So far I've been stretching, working on posture muscles, and neck muscles, for a year or so. I wonder if I'm actually doing enough - or if it's just a time issue. I've had periods where I've stopped, too, but have tried to be consistent the past few months. Some days I feel I can get out of the house for a bit, and some days not. Some exercises, or activities like my row machine can seem to loosen me up and feel better - and other times can put me out of commission for a week. I feel I must be missing something, as I'm hopeful I'll be able to heal - heal enough to get back to working at least. Perhaps not doing enough neck muscle work? And even then it's hard to know how much to do or if it's helping much or not.
    So, do you guys have any advice on what to do or what to try? This channel is the only place that seems to really have an understanding of such an issue. Big fan and learning a lot; but I suppose I'm hoping for something more specific!
    Thanks, hope you guys keep this channel going for many years to come!

    Can weight gain while immobile (due to vertigo) alter your sense of balance, alongside an aching lower back?

    • @TomMorrison
      @TomMorrison  Месяц назад

      Can do yeah! Any significant weight gain will change your centre of mass so you can see your pelvis change where it rests which can sometimes bring on weird symptoms

    They keep talking about twisting and toe touching, but these are absolutely two of the worst movements one can make with a bulging/herniated disc injury.

    • @TomMorrison
      @TomMorrison  21 день назад

      No they’re not, fear around things like that is the worst thing you can have, only temporarily if you have freshly injured yourself should those things be avoided
