I wouldn't say it's overrated, it's a really great song and it became famous for all the right reasons. The problem isn't it being famous, but people treating Kurt and Nirvana as a one-trick horse for it. A lot of people just wanted him and the band to play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and didn't care about their other songs, which kind of sucks considering he had so much more to tell through music.
