Roy Orbison Only the Lonely . aBob Dylan was playing harmonica. George Harrison leads of... gotta love him. Discovered Jeff Lynne more through this super group than ELO
@@mattpotter8725 I would love to have heard each of them sing the whole thing and put out as a track on their own LPs, as each fit so well. As the Wilbury's I am sure that they would have said to other the other guys, no , you take this section !
The band came together in April 1988, when George Harrison was in Los Angeles to oversee the filming of his HandMade production Checking Out. At that time, Warner Bros. Records asked Harrison for a new song to serve as the B-side for the European release of his third single from Cloud Nine, "This Is Love". During a meal with Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison, Harrison asked Lynne to help him record the track and invited Roy Orbison to attend the session, which he then arranged to take place at Dylan's garage studio in Malibu since no professional studios were available at such short notice. Tom Petty's involvement came about when Harrison went to retrieve his guitar from Petty's house and invited him to attend also.
There is one other supergroup right up there with them. The Highwaymen with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson. I'm not even a country music lover, but you got to respect that foursome.
Defs, couldn't get a better bunch of blokes together to form a band, i loved them back in the 90's but i was an uncool kid at school 😂. It would be like Axel, James, Corey, Eddie & Dave forming a group & doing a Wilbury's type band.... With Axels tanty's it would be more interesting than anything
They are so much more than mere 'frontmen'. They're songwriters, producers, musicians and stars in their own right. With massive careers in the pocket when they came together for a ten day period to write and record this album; just some friends together with a common love: music.
@@robstyles8535 When George and Jeff co-founded the group, a concern they discussed was the real possibility of ego clashes between such strong personalities, as the band would be comprised of artists who were accustomed to doing whatever they wanted, getting whatever they wanted, calling all the shots, and being surrounded by "yes" men. So the first time the 5 legends met, George laid down the law. He told everyone to check their egos at the door, and be prepared to audition for singing parts, guitar solos, etc. in their songs. The group would then decide by majority rule who did what. Everyone agreed, and from all accounts, there was no friction in the group and everyone got along swimmingly.
George Harrison (The Beatles) was the lead. The 2nd singer is Roy Orbison (Pretty Woman). Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne you named. The last one was Bob Dylan who played the acoustic guitar and harmonica.
I’m really surprised you didn’t recognize Bob Dylan. Jeff Lynne, to me, is the least recognizable. George Harrison was a Beatle (vocals/songwriter on Here Comes the Sun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and Something). Bob Dylan is well, Bob Dylan. Roy Orbison did Pretty Woman, You Got It, and Only the Lonely.
"The other two guys that you felt had some kind of impact on music somehow" Those two just happened to be George Harrison of Beatles fame and Bob Dylan who was probably the greatest poet, lyrics writer of the 20th century. Dylan was playing the harmonica here George Harrison was singing the lead vocal and plays that great slide guitar solo at the end of the song. The guys voice that you really liked a lot was Roy Orbison. Another great one is End Of The Line where To Petty takes the lead vocal. ☮️ 💕
George Harrison is the one who sang the verses, recognizable from the Beatles. The black-haired guy with the beautiful voice and sunglasses? Roy Orbison ("Pretty Woman", "Only The Lonely"). The third dark-haired guy? Bob Dylan. The curly-haird guy you recognized from E.L.O. is Jeff Lynne .
I was 18 when this came out in 1988 shortly before Roy Orbison passed away. At the time, he was an “old” guy, but now realizing he was only 52…so young & way too soon😔
This was indeed a super group!!! They were all stars before they ever got together. It is so sad that only two of them survive.. they recorded all these songs at Bob Dylan's house most of them were done in the kitchen and in his bathroom.... Another excellent choice Bright eyes and I can't wait till I see the next one keep up the good work

Bod Dylan is considered the greatest song writer of all time and won a nobel prize for his poetry. George Harrison was the lead guitarist for The Beatles and Roy Orbison with the black sunglasses was known as The Big O and had an unmistakable voice, fashion style and sung Pretty Woman. One of the most recognisable songs of all time.
Roy Orbison had the most spectacular voice I’ve ever heard. Tom Petty, a superstar in his own right, said when they were making the album George Harrison had them singing one by one (essentially auditioning) to see which part of the song each would sing. Petty said it was intimidating following Roy Orbison.
Its funny to think that Tom Petty was the newcomer to that gathering. Every one of the others were already established super stars when Tom was first starting out. A true Super Star band.

Look at you recognizing Jeff and Tom! I loved that moment of recognition- your eyes lit up and you smiled. One thing I love about the Wilburys is that despite all being super stars in their own right, they were starstruck by Roy’s joining the group because he was such a once in a lifetime talent. You will probably react to End of the Line, their other big hit, but I would really recommend Not Alone Anymore to really hear Roy’s vocal talent. Of course Orbisons earlier work In Dreams, Crying, Pretty Woman and others should also be on your playlist. 🤗
Bob Dylan is considered one of the greatest POETS of the last sixty years. Students study his song lyrics in college. He was also in We are the World video. "There's a Choice We're Making, We're Saving Our Own Lives, Its True We Make A Better Day, Just You and Me". He was one of the greatest Protests singers of the Sixties and is Legendary. Some of the greatest folk songs of the Sixties were written by him: Mr. Tambourine Man (Big hit for The Byrds), Blowin' in the Wind, All Along the Watchtower (A hit for Jimmy Hendrix), The Times They Are A Changin', and a Great Video of Dylan's is "Subterranean Homesick Blues". Definitely a rabbit hole to go down!
Jayy, the first singer is George Harrison from The Beatles. The dark haired man with the glasses is the legendary Roy Orbison RIP. He sings Pretty Woman. The curly haired guy is the iconic songwriter Bob Dylan. Only Bob and Jeff remain now. This song sounds very much like the life experience of George being in The Beatles. End of the line is another good one. In the clip you see an empty chair rocking. Very sad as Roy had just passed away, in 1988
@THE JAYY SHOW I LOVE all these guys and this song IS amazing. But it still makes me sad in a way because 3 of those musical giants are no longer with us. George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty have passed on an and rocking on in the other world. ❤️
The lead singer was George Harrison, of the Beatles. The guy that sang along with Petty was Bob Dylan, one of the greatest song writers ever. The guy with the dark glasses and the unusual voice was Roy Orbison. Check out literally anything he ever did.
I am 51. When I first heard Roy Orbison singing I immediately asked my mother when I was 25 , who is that? She said Roy Orbison like it was no big deal. I fell in love with Roy Orbison from then. I didn't listen to much older music back then.
You got all the reason with the title of the video... this is really, SO ICONIC!! all that mens were a true legends. This beautiful song became in other of my favorite for obviously reasons. I love it so baddly
First singer was George Harrison from the Beatles. The harmonica player was Bob Dylan. Second singer was Roy Orbison. The group was produced by Jeff Lynne and George Harrison. They took turns on lead vocals on the album. They also took turns and teamed up with writing the songs.
Yeah George Harrison (the first person singing) had a great voice wish he'd been able to be lead singer on more Beatles songs. The others are Roy Orbison (the one wearing the sunglasses) and the great Bob Dylan.
A serendipitous supergroup. Happened completely by accident and from it came something even more amazing than the music. Friendships. More specifically "middle aged" male friendships. These things don't happen too often. If you listen to the lyrics of this song it is a litany of all the things that happened to at least one member, and most of it definitely sounds like a George Harrison tale of life when you are a Beatle. Robbed, fooled, ridiculed, sent to meetings, hypnotised. Taking your kids to day care, and then doing night school, and behind it all to a loved one, Handle me with care because I still have some love to give.
There's an AMAZING song by the Traveling Wilbury's that never got too much attention called "Not Alone Anymore". Roy Orbison sings the lead vocals on the entire song and his voice is simply incredible on it! Guaranteed goosebumps if you react to it.
You literally heard the singers voice not long ago on 'here comes the sun' as George Harrison was a member of the Beatles. The voice you really liked, soft like butter, was Roy Orbison. Bob Dylan also here. This bad literally was THE super group!
I discovered the guy with the black hair (Roy Orbison) about a year ago.. I'm in love with his voice ever since... It's just magical.... I recommend you to listen to "she's a mystery to me", "In dreams" or "Life fades away".
THE MEMBERS ARE : George harrison (The Beatles), jeff lynne(E.L.O), Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, & Roy Orbison. You also should try the other song from them: "End of the Line" , you will love it. Ronny
George Harrison (The Beatles) was the first singer in this song. Roy Orbison known for the song Pretty Women. Roy was the second singer. Roy had hit songs like Only the Lonely, Blue Bayou, You got it, and Pretty Woman to name a few of his songs. Bob Dylan had hits with Like a Rolling Stone, Blowin' in the Wind, Mr. Tambourine Man, and Lay Lady Lay. You already recognized the others. Jeff Lynne, and Tom Petty were also in the group. Roy Orbison died in December 1988. George Harrison died in 2002. Tom Petty died in 2017. May the three of you Rest in peace.
Guy with the glasses was Roy Orbison. The tall, dark hair that started the song was George Harrison, from the Beatles. Yes, you heard a harmonica played by the messy haired , twangy voice of folk singer Bob Dylan. The other 2 you got, right on.
I love that you recognized Jeff Lynne right away - it took me waayy too long to recognize that the genius behind ELO was a Wilbury. If you didn't catch the name of a band or song while listening to them on the radio and didn't see them on t.v. or in a magazine you'd have no idea what they looked like. As a kid I thought the Righteous Brothers were black for many years. It is always a bittersweet moment to see Roy Orbison who passed just before filming was completed on the songs to be released as videos from the album. R.I.P. George and Tom you all have left us a classic album that came out of a cheeky idea to just have fun.
First guy is Famous George Harrison from the Beatles! Check out George Harrison - Got my mind set on you - Give me Love - What is Life - My Sweet Lord - All those years ago - Here comes the sun
Yep your right. When George Harrison died they did a concert and prince joined them for a song , they did the George Harrison Beatles song . While my guitar gently weeps. Incredible George Harrison son plays as well
Great Legends featured in this video. The late George Harrison (of The Beatles fame, as well as a great singles artist) is an artist you would enjoy reacting to. Also the man with the 🕶️ is the late Roy Orbison. His voice is iconic. "Pretty Woman ", "Blue Bayou" among his other hits. And don't forget Bob Dylan. I believe you reacted to his music b4. And yes that is Jeff Lynne of E.L.O. Thanks again 👍ayy😊!
You need to react to Bob Dylan The Times They Are A-Changin mr. Tambourine Man Like a Rolling Stone Tangled Up In Blue his songs have been covered by other groups over 5000 times
Band wasn't around long, unfortunately most of these guys have passed. Loved them all 😭😭😭 Yes, they all sing, every one is extremely famous. This song is what I want
Ah... Those Wilburys! Love them! Check out their albums Vol1 and Vol3... there are also some excellent non album tracks - 'Nobody's Child' and 'Runaway'... Love those Wilburys!
the ones you were not sure of, George Harrison of the Beatles was the one who started singing first, Bob Dylan was the slightly scraggly looking bloke with the pointed looking face, Roy Orbison was the slick and nicely dressed bloke who sang the chorus "Show me you really care" If you know the 'Pretty Woman' song then you will remember him. Then the one on the drums who you see only a little bit of is Jim Keltner.
Heyy Jayy.... Enjoyed watching you react to these amazing guys. You just can't beat their sound. Thanks for the reaction.... Take care and be well. Peace.
Bob Dylan played the harmonica. This whole album was a special event when these individual superstars made time to come together. I wouldn't expect you, as a "youngster" to realize or appreciate that the individual rock stars came together for the pleasure of creating something special. This supergroup= Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne + (now deceased) members Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty. The drummer was a well regarded session musician Jim Keltner. The end of an era--another "end of the line".
Jayy that voice is Rolling Stone magazines No.13 of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, Roy Orbison (lovingly referred to as “The Big O”). You should react to Only The Lonely, Crying, Blue Bayou, You Got it, In Dreams, Running Scared and Oh, Pretty Woman. After that react to Travelling Wilburys “End of The Line”, (bring a tissue). When Barry Gibb heard Roy Orbison singing “Crying” he said “That was it. To me that was the voice of God." It has been said, a fan asked Elvis “what is it like to have the best singing voice?” Elvis replied “I don’t know, ask Roy Orbison!”.
George Harrison was one of the 4 Beatles and yes that was a harmonica which Bob Dylan plays. George Harrison. Tom Petty and Roy Orbison have since passed.
Roy Orbison: One of the pioneers of rock 'n roll and perhaps its greatest and most unique voice. Bob Dylan: Arguably the greatest songwriter in rock 'n roll history and one of the main reasons rock 'n roll developed a social conscious. George Harrison: A member of (arguably) the greatest band in rock 'n roll and one of the first rock 'n roll artists to use his music and fame to benefit those in need. Jeff Lynne: One of rock 'n roll's greatest innovators a producer extraordinaire for other great artists. Tom Petty: The persona of rock 'n roll in America and its standard bearer for almost 40 years.
You should listen to their song End of the Line. After it was recorded, Roy Orbison (guy with the black hair who's voice you liked) passed away, and when they recorded the video, at the point that Roy sings, they show an empty rocking chair with a guitar (I don't know if it was Roy's). It's real powerful and a great memorial to Roy Orbison, an amazing musician and singer with a vocal range wider than the grand canyon.
All BIG names in the industry George with his ties to Beatles, Jeff with his ties to ELO, Tom with his Heartbreakers, Jim and his legendary years as a Sessional Musician for all the massive names of the time. Then you have the two eldest Bob and Roy who are big iconic legends of all time (not that the others aren't either). All of them heavy into writing their own music for both themselves and others.
The guy with the black hair and glasses who you said you like a lot is Roy Orbison. His voice is amazing and hes done some absolute classic songs. Crying, pretty woman, I drove all night , in dreams are all good starting points . The other member of the band are George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne - all legends in their own right

YES 👏 Legends right there……. Thank you 🙏 for reacting
5 brilliant guitarists : 1st singer George Harrison (the Beatles), Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne (ELO), Tom Petty and Bob Dylan! - so smooth
Such an amazing group, so short lived, definitely loved that you loved it! Roy Orbison (guy in all black) had the sweetest voice!
Roy Orbison has a world class voice and has many tracks worth checking out.
Guy with the glasses was Roy Orbison. The tall, dark hair that started the song was George Harrison, from the Beatles. Yes, you heard a harmonica played by the messy haired , twangy voice of folk singer Bob Dylan. The other 2 you got, right on.
i love this bird.
full of smiles
Her: I love his (George Harrison) voice.
Me: wait till you hear Roy’s.
That much talent in one place...that doesn't come along too often.
An "ALLSTAR CAST"...Tom Petty,George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynn and session drummer ...note 3 0ut of 5 have passed away as well.
Drums played by the great Jim Keltner. His CV is studded with hits and stars.
Greatest Supergroup ever!!!🎼👌🎵👍🎶✌😎
You are right its Jeff Lyn, Each and everyone of these guys are music legends and creative song writing geniuses.
Hundreds and hundreds of great songs written by this super group of lover the span of 60 some odd years ❤️
All LEGENDS..The ultimate super group...
Incredible George Harrison son plays as well
Bob Dylan (who was playing the harmonica at the end) and Roy Orbison are both huge legends.
The 1st was George Harrison, voice of an angel: Roy Orbison. Tom Petty sang with Bob Dylan.
Fantastic singers.
It's insane the number of #1 hits they all had between them, from the 60's to the 80's.
You need to react to Bob Dylan The Times They Are A-Changin mr. Tambourine Man Like a Rolling Stone Tangled Up In Blue his songs have been covered by other groups over 5000 times
♥ this song! So many legends in one song! 'I don't know who that is?' - That's only Bob Dylan :D
Band wasn't around long, unfortunately most of these guys have passed. Loved them all 😭😭😭
Yes, they all sing, every one is extremely famous. This song is what I want
Ah... Those Wilburys! Love them! Check out their albums Vol1 and Vol3... there are also some excellent non album tracks - 'Nobody's Child' and 'Runaway'... Love those Wilburys!
I bet Jeff Lynn is really tickled that you recognized him first from all of his personal Rock idols playing along..lol
All legends in their own right, phenomenal ❤
the ones you were not sure of, George Harrison of the Beatles was the one who started singing first, Bob Dylan was the slightly scraggly looking bloke with the pointed looking face, Roy Orbison was the slick and nicely dressed bloke who sang the chorus "Show me you really care" If you know the 'Pretty Woman' song then you will remember him. Then the one on the drums who you see only a little bit of is Jim Keltner.
RIP Roy, George, and Tom. Thanks for the memories!
Love your JAWS shirt! Also love this song. They were a great group!
Elvis love too him voice and black hair style -- Roy orbison
I can't believe you didn't realize that was "George Harrison Beatles "
The guy with the black hair is Roy Orbison. Fantastic singer from the late 50s!! Definitely someone worth checking out!!
AND the amazing George Harrison,!!!
Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan. Pretty significant musical legends.
