1989. This was the first time I ever saw Denzel in a movie. I was floored by his talent and skill. I cried watching the whipping scene. Great movie by the way.

what if Denzel doesn't play himself as the character but rather plays someone he thinks might have existed at that time of the story thus bringing his part in a practically authentic way, like he didn't play those characters HE WAS THOSE CHARACTERS , he embodied them....what an actor! what a man!!!! Aaaand let's not forget the other genius actor here with an imo similar approach to acting , mister Morgan Freeman !!!! Glory to both!!!

Denzel started off like a true rebel, but its just like their race to break our race - have no love and no respect for acts or atrocities to break another man’s spirit, because it goes against your ideology of how and what our race is supposed to act or be - this scene only enraged me more - and only convinced me even more - that violence is all they know and in the end - Violence is what they are gonna get from us - in fact its the only solution when it comes to them and their acts of injustice-

I was whipped that way by an uncle when I was 9, not 20 something. I kept with same stoic silent attitude. I couldn't avoid some tears dropped after a while. Meanwhile all my aunts looking. Until now I regretted the few tears, thinkning that was the weakness of a child.

I have scars all over from my Dad's belt buckle. A few from his pocket knife when he had flashbacks. It's all good though.

He is not acting he is living with characters
While history is driven. Its a wise man. Who understands mistakes and makes intentional changes. Called repentance.
We learn or believe we do as we should.
Those of us who choose not to learn are again Sinners and are set to repeat our sins until we do learn why repentance is important.
I'm guilty as any. My past has haunted me still. Even though my intentions have aloud me to repent. I'm still with my sinful flesh.
Which is why we cannot boast! Like Jesus Christ said.
We are all Sinners. We can not go to God but through him. He is our Savior and without his grace we all fall short.
I Love you to Brothers and Sisters.
But, we all need to Love each other, especially when we fall short. Because each of us will. Like Jesus Christ said we will.
Our pride isn't our friend, it's our shame. Because, it doesn't allow us to be honest to ourselves and acknowledge that we need Jesus Christ. We can't do it all ourselves. He is our Rock and all of the Glory goes to God and his Son Jesus Christ.
Bless you all and Pray for his Helper the Holy Spirit to help guide us. Like his Diciples.
