    Another great video in this 4 part series. I'd recommend a dedicated allen key screwdriver for the screws rather than the penknife type tool, it will make life a lot easier and faster

    i'm thinking of getting one of these boards. this helps me know what I'm in for if i need to get in a repair it. I had not been aware the whole thing was just large flat PCB's...thot it might be strip modules. oh well...i still like the board. good video. thanks!

    Thank you for producing such an excellent video. Both informative and entertaining. I like your tip of using bacteria wipes with a paintbrush. I tend to use Electrolube AFC Antistatic Foam Cleaner. It is great for removing years of cigarette crud that seems to adhere to old electronics.

      Thank you. Good shout on the Electrolube AFC, i'll grab some of that for the next service I do as I only user analog mixers which tend to be old and have probably lived in a smoky environment at some point.

    Fully diggin these Mackie mixer videos...question please, can I use the 1/4inch MAIN OUTPUTS and the XLR MAIN OUTPUTS simultaneously, ? Ie one going to my DAW and the other going into a stereo channel of my ROLAND MX1 mixer for when I am doing a DAWLESS jam ?
    Thanks in advance

    Replace any CAPS or OP AMPS while you were in there? All of your INs and OUTs working and all of your sub busses WORKING 100%?

    Hi I have the same one 8000A. Not being used to it, lol how did you get all bar graphs on the right going at the same time ? Iv pressed every route button the sliders below the bar graphs control the volume but the LED section does nothing I get it on main mix and on the meter bridge above (I'm posh) but don't get anything on the ones 1 through 8 ? I noticed you got them at first all lit. And then they weren't ". On your last video please help. I'm routing wrong I guess lol cheers

    Quick question, why not use a socket and ratchet to do the jacks

    Watched all the parts to get brave to attack my 32*8. I love them and they've been crucial in getting the courage to start this process these days that I won't need the mixer for a week or so. What I wanted to know is what is the hard part that you mentioned in this one at 8:30ish around the power. Want to make sure i don't corner myself or mess up. Any ideas? thoughts? I know it's been a while since the videos were made but I'd ask.. Thanks!

      Got it done. The power section was actually alright. Thank you so much for these videos. Great job. Super happy with the results 👍👍

    How did you take the pots off? I've an Onyx 1220i that is need of attention and I'm toying with the idea of doing it myself!

      You should be able to just pull them off. If they’re stuck on, you can buy a tool to do it. Put a bit of tape on the tool so that it doesn’t scratch the desk though

    When you are taking the PCBs out, is it an all or nothing proposition? Can you take out the Channel Strip PCB's without taking the other boards out? I am having problems with the bus buttons sticking, but I'm not having issues with anything else. Wondering if I can service the mixer without completely disassembling everything.

    Brilliant video. I'm just about to start the mammouth task on a Mackie 32:8 - which has a few channel problems. Just out of interest, what is the problem with taking out the master section please? You said in this video that it was "A nightmare"! But you didn't quite explain why this was? Scared shitless now mate!

    • @PherotoneStudios
      @PherotoneStudios  4 года назад

      I can’t remember what the issue was. I have a feeling that there may have been other things in the way which made it difficult to remove.
      Just take your time and label absolutely everything. Keep every screw in a container that can’t be knocked over and make sure you let it all dry thoroughly before putting it back together.
      It’s not a difficult job, just so time consuming. I think it took about 8 hours for the 24 channel version but the 32 is only one extra PCB so won’t take too much longer.

      @@PherotoneStudios Thanks for the brilliantly informative videos. Is De-oxit D5 better than say WD-40 Fast Drying contact cleaner?

    • @PherotoneStudios
      @PherotoneStudios  4 года назад

      I’m afraid I’ve only ever used Deoxit as it’s what everyone recommends. It’s worked perfectly on all kinds of studio equipment so I’d highly recommend it

    Why'd you go through the trouble to clean the top with all the knob shafts sticking out in the first video when you cleaned it again while flat and bare?

    Why not use a socket to do the jacks? Much easier.

    Mackie sure doesnt believe in ease of access and pulling channel modules do they?!
