The reason Ben never thought of using Grey Matter to hack the Omnitrix, really is simply cause he didn't think of that. Which says a lot to how much potential Ken has
True though Kenny also has the benefit of the hindsight from hearing about all of his dads hero exploits using his various aliens.
@@williehughes1690 one of the writers of Ben 10 also said that while Ben's Grey Matter is really smart, Ben isn't, which creates some sort of contradiction for them to play with. Like there are a few jokes in OS and the Reboot about Grey Matter saying something and then going "wish I knew what I just said" or someone saying "Really? I thought you were the smart one"
Since Ken is already really smart, his Grey Matter will be smarter than Ben's ever was

The way big moment is one of my favorite in this whole show
I heard from an old RUclips video that the Omnitrix Ben has actually grows with him. so as he grows and keeps being a hero, the Omnitrix adapted and evolved along with him, and that's why it's bigger in the future. So kinda that means the watch is something biomechanical in a way. It's halfway true as the show goes on to UAF and Omniverse which is pretty cool.

Love the Way Big moment. An angry dad is one thing. An angry dad who can turn into a giant super strong alien is another.

Some things to point out:
1) Kenny using Grey Matter to hack the watch wouldn't of worked for Ben when he was his age. The original was made by the smartest Grey Matter in the universe while the one Ben gave to his son is one he made himself so even if he turned into a Grey Matter back then he wouldn't of been able to hack the original watch.
2) The giant alien he turns into is called Way Big. He literally just named it that because it's way bigger then all his other aliens.
3) This episode is a separate story. It's not a true continuation of the series.
Ben 10: Alien Force is when he becomes a teenager and the history in that doesn't match up with this one episode.
That kaijo isn't Atomix. Rather, it's been named WAY Big.

Think the most popular theory for Ken mum is the girl from the werewolf episode. I haven't seen much of the franchise beyond the original so don't know whether this is actually confirmed or not
It was first confirmed in the pop up trivia for this episode and later Omniverse cemented it as canon.
This is the only spoiler I'll give you, but Ben actually made this one for Kenny
i’m sure someone told you on patreon but when this first aired, they had a trivia pop-up that said Kenny was the son of Ben and Kai Green, from the werewolf episode.
It’s worth noting that these trivia pop-ups aren’t exactly concrete and their legitimacy varies as the series goes on.
No becasue this version of Ken have the same look of the other version, so the are the same father and mother. Is this version had a differnt mother, half DNA isn't the same and it couldn't look the same

That face of pure anger Ben makes before turning into Way Big has always stuck with me
I love how the future episodes are used to show us Ben's future potential and how this episode uses waybig as an example of that before secret of the omnitrix, in SOTO we see Ben unlock the very alien that his future self used in the most extreme situations bringing it full circle

You know, considering we know is possible with the omnitrix, you could retroactively assume the reason why Ben chose Way Big to beat Kevin was probably because there were still civilians around. What I'm surprises one of the characters from the Cartoon Cartoon classics from the late '90s and early 2000's are on the show. I was informed that three of them would be on the show.
One being the Big nose idiot Billy from _The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy_ (who is currently on this episode)
And I think the other two were supposed to be Cow and her brother Chicken, from the classic… _Cow And Chicken._

There at Alien Force now so I'm free to say some stuff (tho I bet Patreon already has comments about it), the Omnitrix that Ben gives to Kenny was made by Ben himself and not the creator of the Omnitrix, thus it will have some different functions and firewalls built into it. Secondly, the moment they said someone f*cked Kevin for the reason he has a son, and seeing that they're in Alien Force, they can make the connection just from that.
Devlin's mother is someone from Saturn actually and not who we all think, atleast in this timeline
Yeah it's not Gwen (in this instance) because A) their getting together probably didn't get thought up until AF, and B) in Omniverse they make a quick one off joke that he's grounded, and there's almost no way that Devlin would be on good terms with Kevin again after all PC the events here.

it was confirmed in a pop up for this episode (they have pop-ups with trivia, they came with the dvds and on some later re-runs of the show. Allot of these pop ups have been lost but a bunch are on the wiki for a lot of episodes you've watched, and theres one for this episode saying that ben built the new watch using all of his smartest tech aliens: Ben Victor, Grey Matter, and Upgrade i believe.

Reason why Ken could easily hack the Dupe Omnitrix
This is when Ben basixally used Grey Matter and other brainy aliens to create a dupe Omnitrix
But ofc unlike the creator of the Omnitrix, Ben only can do what he knows about it. So security, features etc are all based on what Ben himself perceives.
So unlike the original prototype that Ben has, dupe basically functions like the oroginal in terms of usual operation..but backend software and hardware and security are basically a watered down version
And here we actually get a little idea of how the Omnitrix worked, Ben mentioned "downloaded" some of the aliens in. This is something that will be explored in Alien Force.
All these while up till now, we held the idea that it takes DNA and stores in. But what we learnt here is that the Omnitrix is like a PC terminal, and DNA are stored like data

Theories say that Ben created the new Omnitrix on his own, by using his smartest aliens
this episode is not canon. one would have to be near azmuth intellect to hack the omnitrix and becoming greymatter isnt close enough. Its a cool idea tho.
