"Retrospective"
The Hizuru engineers inform Hange and the others that it will take at least half a day to get the flying aircraft ready. Azumabito suggests they can escape by ship and ready the aircraft in the Marleyan coastland city of Odiha, where the Azumabito own a warehouse, though Hange realizes that it will be too late to save Liberio at the Colossal Titans’ pace. They then rush to the boat while Annie and Reiner use their titans to protect Azumabito and the engineers. Meanwhile, Mikasa, Hange, Jean, and Connie fight off Floch and the Jaegerists with Pieck joining the fray after delivering Levi, Gabi, Yelena, and Onyankopon to Magath at the dock. Managing to escape the fight, Floch attempts to destroy the ship’s hull with a thunder spear but is shot down by Gabi and falls into the sea. Seeing the others are about to be overwhelmed, Falco transforms into the Jaw Titan to help the alliance defeat the Jaegerists. However, he eventually loses control and attempts to eat Pieck, but Magath manages to extract him from his titan. Seeing a captured Marleyan cruiser run by Jaegerists at the shore, Magath decides to remain behind to destroy it and runs into Shadis, who had followed them to the port. They then destroy the cruiser at the cost of their own lives while the others set for Odiha. On the ship, Hange informs the others that Marley and Liberio cannot be saved and Annie once again questions Mikasa whether she can let Eren be killed to stop the Rumbling.
One of the few reactors who truly paid attention to characters like Keith and Magath, cheers and rip to the goats!
Yea I’m
I’m
Nah i can respect him but he still did what he did so i didn't care when he died
@@johnnychavez1646 I like how you basically prove OP's point about how only a few people truly paid attention to their characters.
Yeah there nice and all but falco was highlight
i cried at that magath and keith scene while reading the manga, and now crying again watching the anime. mappa did this episode justice. so beautiful and heartbreaking.
I was not prepared for that scene. I started to like Magath very early in Season 4. I considered him the Erwin of Marley. A necessary devil. And Shadis I loved since the very first time I saw him haha.
But these two have moved me a lot in that short moment. It was a beautiful end for them.
I didn't cry when I read it but seeing it now.. my tears didn't stop for a while
Same...me too
I actually kinda liked when magath died and it was so satisfying except for Keith of course
I always think it's so funny when people try to hold in their tears, if you gotta cry, just cry, it's actually a good thing that this piece of art is affecting you so much, it means it did it's job.
and also, crying is a healty part of the body coping with the emotions. Crying good^^
It's traditionally been seen as immasculine, but frankly I've always found there to be a line that exists which is alright to cross, even for the most hardy and unshakable person. Sometimes it's a sign of bravery or love, though at others it's seen as a sign of weakness.
Regardless, every man will cry at the loss of a brother, a father, a mother, a partner, a friend - be they King or Slave.
It's just a matter of when and where.
Please don't think that not showing it means that the feelings aren't there. For whatever reason, people often hide it.
Connie was the 🐐. He paid Reiner and Annie back like he said he would. Annie saved him in Season 1(the armory) and Reiner did in Season 2(the castle). Connie has always been one of my favorite characters.
I have never realized that. Good catch
@@CaIamity_ Thank you. I don't catch every detail, but since Connie has been one of my favorite characters since the beginning, I tend to remember a lot about him 😄
Connie really shone in these 4 episodes, he's one of my favs too
this
a lot of yeagerists fans forget these moments or think it’s nothing
If I remember correctly Keith was the commander in the first scene of episode 1, when he brought back just an arm of one of his soldiers
He is! He is also the one who found grisha outside the walls when he came to Paradis for the 1st time!
He is also the one that took eren back after eren ate grisha right?
@@pizzalink yep
He was he wanted to be a special person but dertamined he wasn't one. People always gave him shit for always coming back alive while his soldiers didn't. He stepped down and Erwin took command.
He also sabotaged eren's equipment to prevent him to get into scouts

Translation
You are always calm and warm-hearted, with a deep understanding of each of the characters.
I'm sure you have been watching Attack on Titan for a long, long time, which is why you are filled with so many thoughts and feelings.
I am so glad that I am able to share my thoughts with you.
Keith Shadis is my Second Most Relatable Character in AoT. The man who once considered himself a special "chosen" human being but failures crept him.
Keith was once a confident person who developed an attitude of superiority. But during his time as Commander, many soldiers had died, many insulted him. His failures were being compared to Erwin's victories. So he chose to step down from his position. He became the Head Instructor for the Military as his atonement for all of the soldiers who died.
In s4, when Keith sees a group of his former students discreetly leaving with Leonhart, he deduced that they are trying to do something. Keith was moved by their selflessness and decides to follow and help them. Magath and Keith sacrificed themselves.
From start to finish, all he got was pain and depression. Carrying the guilt until the end of the soldiers who were killed under his command. But seeing his past students (Armin and the squad) doing rightful things on their own and finally, they've grown up might have overwhelmed him. Shadis was never a loser. He was not meant to be a Commander but to train and discipline students as they are the future of humanity. Shadis ended his lif3 letting nobody knows his sacrifice. He died by not being "special" but as a teacher who guarded his students' backs. He might have still thought he is just nothing but the truth is he did his purpose. He did his part as to why he was born into this world. For me, Shadis was an unrecognized hero ❤.
One thing to add is that Mikasa, Armin, Jean, and Connie didn't even know that Shadis was also inside the ship to sacrifice himself too.
Just a bystander... 😢 but will forever be rememberd by us
Exactly that really breaks my heart damn like man's always trying his best but no one realizes it (in this case because nobody knows)
that moves me each time
I found the guy who animated Floch amazing scene! It was Q Kawa who animated it! Thank you Q Kawa
How did you find it?
@@jodscience3741 it usually gets posted on sakugabooru, or the animators will post about it on twitter once the episode is released
Just 1 guy animated that? Wow that's impressive..
This episode was just perfect the animation, Music , Emotional impact , they definitely elevated it more than the manga .
Bro Keith and Magath dying was actually so sad and I knew it was coming since I read the manga. Beautifully portrayed by mappa as always
I just realized MAPPA is really gonna save our commander for the movie..........I'm not okay
I almost forgot Keith and Magath are about to die here. Magath staying at the port made me realize it's frikin ch129 I'm seeing now. I cried too, man. They deserved better but their act will be remembered as heroic.
I was impressed by Flock fighting as a leader against strong soldiers including giants
Hes have the spirit of erwin tatakae. And stick to it till the end.
I like to see that, when Annie receive the news about her hometown being destroyed and falls, the one's that hold her are Mikasa and Jean, also, when Magath asks for Keith's name, they are not fighting for a country anymore, they are fighting for the world
That sequence with Shadis and Magath talking was one of my favorite sets of dialogue in the entire series. Two legends meeting who could’ve been great friends in a better world.
Keith was the first character appearing in AoT ever, and the dude who gave the mother his son's arm
The two instructors, two teachers of two sides, dying together as legends.
Another AOT season, another crying darius, what else is new?
Hey this one got to me too, hit me hard.
I cant say another season but more like the final part. In it will br a dhort part of 6- 9 episode maximum
RIP Magath & Shadis
Connie reminding and showing us how he is the 8th best scout cadet only below jean and the 5 titan shifter. My boi really is underrated and prefer it this way so Isayama won't kill him hahaha
MAPPA really put their all into this episode. Floch rallying up his troops with a speech about how if they lose now, their comrades dreams will be in vain, everyone will be lost, and telling them to fight. Being willing to stand on the front lines until the very end and failing when he's merely a hair from his goal. Just like Erwin. He had to become like the Devils he always admired. For Eren. And with that sheer determination of all of Eldia riding on his shoulders, he charged at the Jaw Titan(known for its speed), Hange(one of the highly trained veteran soldiers, AND Pieck(another extremely fast titan) AND he outmaneuvered ALL OF THEM and almost took down the ship. Even with the odds stacked against him, he still fought.
The Alliance says that their fallen comrades would never agree with what Eren plans to do.
Floch says he's following what Eren wants to do BECAUSE of their fallen comrades.
The alliance is right, erwin wouldn't fuck with genocide, and floch twisted Erwin's words into fascist rhetoric. He's a well written character, but he's a well written ultranationalist. It's crystal clear.
Floch used fear mongering to get soldiers on his side, good luck getting support otherwise. Regardless, top 10 aot characters in terms of writing.
Dude not even Eren is a Jaegarist lmao. If you think Eren agrees 100% with the rumbling, you haven't been paying attention, and as a manga reader, you won't like the ending
@@enriqueramos2426 kinda sad that even the person who does it doesnt even agree with it but he knows theres no other way
@@enriqueramos2426 Eren got retconned at the end. He definitely wanted to do the rumbling in order to save Eldia.
@@yeager1234 Not Eldia, Paradis. And there were other reasons too
It got me in the manga, and it got me again here.
Rest in Peace to The Old Guard.
The rest is up to the young.
For the people who’s asking why falco looks like a bird its because he had zeke’s fluid it was supposed to the beast titan but he had the jaw’s power so zeke’s and the jaw’s power got mixed together
ah ok that makes a lot of sense
That's kind of a spoiler though as they is revealed later.
This is a spoiler bro
The scene with connie was sooo good he came in
clutch, also Magath and shadis the combo we didn't
think we needed. They both were kinda in the same
position who created soldiers/warriors to defend
there people. Rip to both 🙏
MAPPA scored another 10/10. They did this chapter more than justice. MAPPA deserves more praise than they deserve
7/10 CG animation for the Titans is bad enough, but also using them for character animation hurts the score. Mappa's doing the best with what they got, but it just doesn't compare to the old seasons. Still being carried by the story.
@@Ultimaniacx4 No this episode was a 10/10 lol dont even try to argue about it. And "being carried by the story"? Isn't that what makes a show good? The fact that it even has a good story compared to some of the other mainstream shitshows. Ur deluded
@@scepii It's part of what makes a show good, but Wit's superior animation throws off the curve. Are you saying it would be just as popular if it was animated with stick figures? Animation matters, and CG people don't belong in anime. It's either a lazy tactic to make less work or a caveat to deal with bad management. This is the latter and it needs to be pointed out. 7/10
@@Ultimaniacx4 I don't know if you're talking general or this ep but in this ep there was barely any CGI on the titans, at least Annie, Falco and most of Pieck's scenes were 2D. Reiner is still hard to tell, it's almost like he's always CGI.
@@Cr4zyRuski Some of the shots of Yeagerists were 3d models. And even when the titans are 2d, they keep the same flat coloring as the cell-shaded 3d models that makes them stick out and look way too cartoony. Wit's titans have veiny skin that made them look more alive. And he cart still moves like a zoid with worse framerate. It's not terrible, but imo if something better exists then you can't call it perfect.
I felt the same when I saw the scene of Magath and Shadis, and tears came to my eyes like you, and I always comment on this, it's not that we cry as such, it's that the feeling that those scenes leave us is so strong that we simply cry of emotion.....and in AOT, one of the few animes that has made me feel similar sensations...
Floch gave us a tribute to Sasha with how he caught that bullet
😭
The Magath/Shadis death was brutal to watch animated. I sobbed the entire time.
Thank you king :'( that Magath Shadis score and scene was so emotional ..... The highlight, even with an action packed episode
RIP floch
He was the perfect antagonist for this, one of the best characters for me.
Hands down Magath and Shadis' last conversation is my favorite in the entire series, was not afraid to cry because I knew they were both worthy of tears.
The last episode almost had me crying, it was a stromg emotional impact but I held it in, but as someone who has loved Keith and Magath's character for a while now, I did end up crying in this one. I fucking love this show but I hate at the same time lmao it gets me everytime. Props on you for being genuinely one of the best reactors out there who focuses on each character deeply and truly like their character even when you aren't necessarily on their side.
Hands down to you Darius. I also have huge respect for Magath. He actually loved these Eldians kids with his full heart.
It's a smaller detail but I like how they've been highlighting Gabi and Pieck's relationship. She's kinda the only mentor figure she has left who isn't having an existential crisis and deep self hatred.
It's crazy that they'll never know shadis did that for them
I was bracing myself while watching this episode, prepared for someone to die but not knowing who & when.
DID NOT expect it to be these two & it destroyed me... RIP Keith & Magata...😭😭😭
And strong girl Annie breaking down like that broke my heart too... 💔💔💔
Mikasa turning into the camera be like : you are next!
RIP Theo Magath & Keith Shadis, Duo Legend finally meet up 🙏
It’s really nice to see someone react with emotion- that Shadis/Magath scene was hard and I spent more time crying about it than I’d like to admit. This story definitely has touched a lot of people
Shadis & Magath were BYSTANDERS, both had power and position to incite changes among their respective worlds but always faltered at the hands of causality & the endless hatred cycle that entrapped them. They lived beneath the shadows of people who they deemed more worthy than themselves but atleast went out with their pride & notion intact knowing they could leave the rest to those same people and realising they were not unworthy to their fellow comrades and students afterall, a fitting retrospection before their tragic yet heroic demise
RIP Keith Shadis & Theo Magath
Fun fact, Keith was there since episode 1… He was the one who lead the charge against that Titan before the first opening!!! RIP The goat!!!
loved the episode love the reaction just as much....aot will go down in history for being able to make grown men cry....RIP Shadis and Magath
Keith is the scout legion commander before erwin, in episode 1, the battle of scout and a bald titan in the forest commanded by keith, and then when they came back to shiganshina, keith showed a hand to the scout's mother
Happy to say I was in that live and felt the emotions Darius went through with him xD
As a manga reader, the last few episodes didn't move me too much, but this one got me. It was as emotional, if not more so, than reading it. And Falco's Jaw is 10x cooler when animated than it looked in the manga.
Keith lived as a Bystander... but he died making a change. But you know what is the saddest part? No one knew. Neither Hange, who respected him... No person alive will remember Keith Shadis as a hero, no... No one will remember that he existed.
Well, in that case I will. Keith Shadis, wasn´t a bystander in his last moments, you all better remember that.
Who knows? Maybe people in the future will find Theo's bones together with Keith's. And people will be able to piece together the story from there.
@@Borderose But when will that be? Will they still be recognizable? And they´ll need to go under water and searcch the boat. Then find the rest that could still be intact enough... It´s just to little possibilities... Who knows
That repeating "I really fuck with Magath" 😂😂
Shadis and Magath with the Ultra-Chad exit...
In the clutch saves by Annie, Reiner, and Connie....
Sniper badassery from Jean AND Gabi, the King and Queen of "no hesitation".....
Floch with the frontline hail mary play and giving Erwin a run for his money on the Fire Me Up speeches....
Murderhobo Mikasa going Extra-Extra with that last combo kill and the Thunder Spear cherry on top JUST BECAUSE SHE CAN.
[Terrified Jaegerist Noises]
Pieck with the Guard Grapple on BerserkBuzzard Falco.....
NOICE one MAPPA!
the episode made me have so much respect for Shadis and Magath
Rip to two absolute goats. Mappa bodied this episode bro. W’s all around.
The fact that Keith was there since the very beginning of the show and dies like that is beautiful but so sad damn.
Keith was there to see the Grisha story and the Eren story. He died at a turning point--he doesn't get to see how the whole story ends.
Damn, feel you bro. The parallel between Keith and Maggath being the teacher/commander from each side and the thoughts of Keith's backstory about being special, and then you realize that no one will ever know if he's involved in the sacrifice with Maggath is what breaks my heart
RIP Theo Magath and Keith Shadis, our heroes .... thank you
And you know what is worst thing is that nobody knows keith came to save the port except magath but he's truly a bystander
I have seen this episode at least ten times now and this scene makes me cry every. single. time.
"I really fw Magath" me too, man...me too...
Patrician
8:00 everytime they play that song it always means something BIG is going to happen. So the fact they gave floch that soundtrack for his scene really shows that for the time being the anime took him seriously enough to give him the most hype song in the show. Glad floch got his final moment to shine in the best way possible
some of the best animation this season and then the saddest ending. rollercoaster was real :')
A 21 guns salute for Keith and Magath. 🕊️🕊️🕊️
The thing that they were both somehow imparted empathy for their students.
This episode was all amazing.
And I want you to know one small hint.
Connie was saved by Annie in Season 1 and by Reiner in Season 2.
And he said he would return the debt someday.
This time, he saved Reiner and Annie.
Isayama makes everything meaningful.
Falco, the Titan you’re about to inherit will always die saving Reiner’s ass. It’s name is the Jaw Titan.
When I read this episode in the manga, many reactors I follow were watching 3x11 (Bystander) and that episode got me so hard after Magath and Shadis sacrifice. AoT storytelling is on another level and I'm so glad I get to watch this animated :')
Three kings died that day. Pixis, Keith and Magath. Rip.
Rip to Magath and Shadis, the fucking GOATs
godspeed, you two o7
i remember the first reaction i saw of you in early season 4.. the way you paid attention to magath.. around that time i just read the manga chapter for this episode.. and i kept thinking.. i cant wait for your reaction to this episode.. i've waited what feels like years for this. thank you, your reaction was everything i hoped for :D glad i'm subscribed to you, one of the most underrated anime reaction channel ^_^
Season 1. Episode 1. The first character to ever speak, if you don't count the narrator, was Keith Shadis.
RIP
The magath and shadis scene got me too bro
Well, I think I've forgiven Gaby. So so. If she had shot that cockroach between the eyes, definitely. Why do I have the impression that he will be the only one to survive all this, including the protagonists?
Wow so you hate floch?
I loved the moment when Mikasa after the blood-shower just looked at the remaining enemies and they just ran.
Can't blame them either. Who'd be willing to fight against that?
Even Levi in his prime would probably be a bit nervous when faced with Mikasa in that moment.
It's a shame that the only person who knew that Shadis was there is Maggarth. Others know that Maggarth is there, so he'll be remembered... but Shadis will be forgotten by history. I doubt he minds, but I think he deserves to be remembered.
I'm glad that the ED is so good. If it wasn't I'd have switched off when the ED started and missed the post-credit scene. ^^
I also really like the OST throwbacks. They start out with pieces that sound like the old season 1 tracks and then go into some or remixes or transition into new tracks. Really nice.
I always share your thoughts. This was another good story.
I like you because you are careful in your analysis and your reactions are natural and balanced. I was moved to tears.
Magath said to keith “u will be remembered as one of the heroes” but they didnt even know he was there. Like he said in season 3, he was a mere bystander and he even died as a bystander. Man I cant…this is so freakin sad..
Fun fact: This show is called Attack on Titan.
Floch truly saddens me. He waS a creature created by his circumstances. He had some serious character growth.
i always love ur reactions!!!
rip to magath and keith :(
最後の瞬間にキースもマガトも「自由の翼」を背負ってるのがいいよね。死の瞬間に彼らは傍観者でも元帥でもなかった。漫画読んでるときに一番泣いたシーンかも。
At the last moment, It's good for both Kieth and Magath to put "Wings of Freedom" on their back. They were not "bystanders","General" at the death moment. That scene made me cry the most when I was reading the manga, possibly.
King flock and the yeagerist are the true heroes of paradise island
how funny it is that they were more scared of mikasa than the other 4 titan shifters ?
I didn’t cry this episode, but man seeing you cry made me cry lol
Great Floch at just 19 you fought against everything and everyone, against traitors, marleyans and 3 titans, unfortunately heroes like you don't always win
The man was one to come back from hell itself he wasn't going to let hell come to consume his home that he went out to die for. People give Floch so much shit but he also went through his fair share too.
A ture hero of paradise island
Well.. He got killed by Gabi 💀
The first and last time I saw Keith smiled
Wow bro great reaction
Really felt the emotions throughout
The death of Theo Magath and Keith Shadis was so hard so hard I was crying so hard…
"I gotta be team Reiner and Annie" I mean WHY. They came to destroy our place man. The yeagerist wanted the best for their tiranized island
Easy. Darius is lucid enough to be capable of empathizing with both sides. They are all Eldians, after all. Reiner and Annie want to save Eldians just as much as Eren and Floch do, just in different places. Personally I am not a Yeagerist, because two wrongs don’t make a right
@@VampyricNinjaXDLOL So what do you think would have happened had Marley won the attack? Do you think they wouldn't be killing or capturing Eldians right now to make more mindless Titans and attack more Nations? Didn't Willy call on other Nations to help against Paradis anyway, how long until any of them divide to attack?
Edit:decide to attack?
@@jeremiahramirez8915 if you recall, Marley had no intention of continuing to rely on the titan powers. Their titans got destroyed at Fort Slava. They wanted to advance technologically like other nations. It was Zeke who pushed for Marley to resume the Paradis operation, to further his own agenda of euthanizing Eldians with the power of the Founder, unbeknownst to the top Marleyan brass. If it weren’t for Zeke, then Marley (let alone the entire world) would never had planned to attack Paradis. And Marley only ended up attacking them, because Zeke and Eren coordinated an attack on Liberio
I said it once and I"ll say it again there's definitely gonna be either a movie after this cause there are only 1 more episode left for this season.
Without spoiling anything for the manga there are only 10 manga chapters left that haven't been animated yet and even if the final episode is 45 minutes like demon slayer or even a 1-hour special it's still won't be enough so this is definitely not the end.
The fact that the protagonist is a "hero" doesn't seem to be shaken no matter what, so I want everyone to see "Maybe this is not justice?"
Because the phrase "this is justice" changes as one's position changes.
Even if the protagonists have done cruel things, I would like to pass on the idea of "Can that be called justice?" by Isayama in 2011
I like how the fact Falco's titan entrance is similar to Ymir in season 2
"We've failed to achieve anything"
You have achieved good results.
You entrusted the meaning to those who live.

This episode was crazy man. So much happened, it felt like 5 minutes to me. Im amazed by how incredibly well Mappa animated this episode. The action was incredible.
Seeing Shadis and Magath going away like they did brought a tear to my eye. Amazing characters overall. Both had their redemption arcs. Both of their stories came full circle but in the end they ended up dying to protect the others. Dying like heroes.
I also just realized now that the scouts didn’t even know Shadis was there when he died :(
I also think people just trash on Floch and hated on him way more then they should of. He is one hell of a character, i didn't really like him either but u gotta respect the man. He went from being a kid scared to death on his first mission to dying to protect paradis and his own beliefes. The fact that he also went against Hange, Mikasa, Connie and the titans without being scared showed us how much he has grown as a character. He stayed true to his beliefes the entire time and he did what he thought Erwin would of wanted him to. A very well written character imo.
And Annie at the end, man it is heartbreaking to see how they all went from being Comrades in season 1 to what we are seeing now. Everyone has suffered enough already. But if u think about it, it has come full circle here aswell. The scouts and «warriors» were friends in the first seasons, became enemies and now became friends again.
Easily a 10/10 episode if u ask me. Only one more episode to go now. No way they are able to cover everything in the manga left, so im looking forward to see if we are getting a movie or a part 3.
Man it had been a while since we saw some good animation (probably since wit lol) , I loved this episode.
The end of the two army instructors.

This is so much better than how it was in the manga. Epic

I really don't understand how people cry when Magath and Shadis die but not when Floch gets shot after being inches away from saving the people of Eldia. Floch was an absolute hero I had to stop watching the episode when he got shot and was only able to finish it a few days later since I was so devastated
So glad I wasn’t the only one crying
