    A very clear demo of this upgrade. Showing how each piece of the new tensioner fits with the others and how the completed assembly sits when it’s properly pushed home in the saw was particularly useful.
    That tensioner with its two exquisite little helical gears is a work of art, it has to be said.
    Then again, your videos are too.

    I love my 170's but i would like to have a "yellow" chain instead of the "green" homeowner chain. Great job, this has inspired me to convert my 170's to side tensioning.

    • @kbittorf335
      @kbittorf335 Месяц назад

      It‘s been my experience with Stihl dealers that they are very apprehensive selling yellow chain for anything under a 70cc saw. Kickback is a much greater risk on smaller saws.

    You make the hair on the back of my neck bristle up whenever you run that chain backwards w/ your bare hand, rag or not…a slip off going forwards is fine, back will give you sutures! No need to do that.

    Do ms170 s come without a chain catcher? Thats why it has that empty hole below the tensioner or maybe it was made of plastic and broke off?
