Well after 13 years, the Grand River Railway began running a train for the first time on their newly-acquired tracks since CSX's abandonment in 2002.
The first portion of the video shows the crew switching in the Painesville Yard to get the hang of things as Q227 passes behind them.
CSX 2773 starts to shove four salt cars north to Morton Salt and quickly ran into a problem once it got to the downtown area of Grand River, Ohio: The patrons at Pickle Bills restaurant parked on the tracks. Since the tracks haven't been used in 13 years, the locals adjusted to using the trackage an extra space to park their vehicles. You can see throughout the middle of the video where a few vehicles moved as the train stopped and waited for them to move.
Once they moved, 2773 started shoving again towards Morton and from there the crew tied the train down and turned off the engine as they finished their first of many days to come.

There is a huge disused military ammo storage dump near me. The dump had its own narrow gauge railway and several miles of track in a big loop plus plenty of sidings. There are two diesel locomotives and a selection of box and flat cars in the engine shed. I have tried every route possible to get in there, legally! Imagine having your own railway? I have even volunteered to service and restore the rolling stock and tracks but no joy. It is there just to break my heart and tease me! Can't even give free labour to look after something that's not been used for over 25 years!!

For a year I lived on Richmond Road in that duplex back up a gravel drive by the Grand River. I think those tracks run just below the house, down a steep embankment. It would have been a huge surprise to hear a train idle through there. :) I used to ride my bike through Grand River on the way down to lake Erie. It looks like the train went into Morton Salt.

Good to not only see an old railway brought back to life but an old Geep still moving cars around! One of my old friends watches one a local entity up there in Ohio close to lake Erie switch cars back and fourth for Morten Salt too with his young son. I seem to remember a completely black GP-10. cant remember the railroad though.

Many seemingly abandoned tracks were recovered from being paved over, in my location. The ones that were still active when the paved over ones were recovered were upgraded for faster and longer trains. The recovered tracks only get slower, short trains.

According to RUclipsr Newark Tower one Ohio Central may be running X stone trains to St Louisville Ohio and beyond in the future that's part of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line that used to go all the way up to Sandusky Ohio back in the day that line is about to get really busy soon and I am very excited

@@austinmiller3497 It may be in disrepair by the railroad. But, unless the railroad sold the land, it can renew its interest in an ancient route and order the old tracks dug up by those that covered them.

@@indridcold8433 Yeah very true part of that area is supposed to become a bike trail in the future that line has not seen a train for over 10 years I saw that more of the brush and debris had been removed off the rails and ties further away from the train trestle that crosses over raccoon Creek and not far from The Trestle in a video I have on here Ohio Central was storing some tanker cars on that line from nearby the train trestle to the tectum plant building and there used to be a switch there too I would like to see a Ohio Central use that line again for train car storage and rail service and according to what I saw online and on my railroad apps the Columbus and Ohio Railroad still owns it

+Ginger Rail Morton Salt came back, there's plenty of track back there that were abandoned once CSX took over (roughly that time) and left Morton Salt and a cement(?) company left to ship by other means. From what I remember, a contract for salt in Columbus is what got the salt rail service going again. Also, as far as I know, the Grand River plans to have this be as long as a service as possible, they received two SW1500's recently that were painted in the B&O passenger paint scheme, so it's clear they mean business.

It's about 2.5 miles total and should still all remain, but I don't know what industry/siding tracks have been ripped out. As far as I know, most of it is there with potential to expand into the cement plant next to Morton Salt. I'm sure if the cement plant opens a contract with the Grand River, there would need to be inspections on the tracks but should be in good shape. And the tracks ended towards the lake at Morton Salt I believe.

I wish i have a few billion to restore, rebuild tracks in central Texas, many old time railroads died from 1941-2003 and left behind railroad dumps, roadbed, old iron bridges, and neat depots... Cotton Belt, St Louis Southwestern, Stephenville Texas North and South, Central Texas Railroad (Peanut Line) and Temple Northwestern Railroad, all died, and left behind trinkets of a once proud railroad... Never ever coming back, unless i find lawyers, investors and property owners willing and able to help, but it's a no-go... If you or anyone visits Texas, visit Gorman,TX, Dublin,TX, Stephenville,TX, Waco,TX, Temple,TX Killeen,TX, Copperas Cove,TX San Saba,TX Brady,TX.. Brownwood,TX Ireland,TX Aleman,TX... A railroad graveyard.... Just a few trinkets of railroad history...

At first i thought wow an old train with no
graffiti. But then at 4:22 there it is. The stupid gang tags.
Now I don't mind it a bit when they actually do art on them.
I've seen a lot of really good art on trains. But the gang tags make them look bad. Really bad.
