Me: Okay, RUclips, I'll trust you on this one. Spouse: What are you watching? Me: Team of Korean guys unclogging a toilet drain. Spouse: Why are you watching that?! Me: RUclips said to do it!!
I reckon Ratty and DrainAddict would be impressed with that. Legendary indeed - well done guys! So many years of someone pouring something down the drain - that person needs a slap.
I was sucked into these videos (pun intended) with Drain Addict, but I think you and Plumber Story do a better job at explaining what is going on. Great videos, greetings from Germany! :D
I know you have said in other videos that it is a very new concept in South Korea for citizens to not pour oil and grease down the drain but I also watch a lot of videos from the UK and they have same problem all the time too. I know in Canada, my grandma used to pour the grease down the drain as well. People all over the world pour grease down the drain no matter how advance the plumbing/sewer system is. I think it is mostly a generational thing and I hope that as younger people grow older, it will be very very rare for grease and oil to be dumped in the drain.
I’m 50 and have never poured grease down the drain and neither did my parents. The grease always go into a can and you wait for it to gel up and throw it into the trash. It really seams like a common sense thing to me.
@@Hasenfeffer1 same but in my experience, older generations pour it down the drain and then pour boiling water down the drain. You cant obviously do that with any PVC pipe drains and shouldn't do it anyway but that's what the quite older generations do, in my experience anyways
@@QuimBeelivingstone I once poured oil from canned mussels down the kitchen sink drain, thinking that oil isn't the same as grease (it didn't freeze in the fridge), and it would be fine, I quickly realized what I've done and I started googling what to do, I read about the boiling water advice, so I did that, but after I did it, I realized that boiling water could damage PVC pipes, so I opened the tap and started to wash it off with some warm water. To my luck the pipes somehow survived that, but the sink trap didn't, it started leaking and got to be replaced after... Not sure how this could actually happen to me, it's like I have made one bad decision after another... And yes, I'm 30 years old. =/
@@Hasenfeffer1 My grandparents would never throw the grease away. Waste of good grease. You could spread that shit on a sandwich and eat it. You could reuse it while cooking, etc. How healthy it was, questionable at best, but I don't know their cooking was astoundingly good.
This channel has taught me that you might get a go pro cheaper second hand but it might have been through some real stuff in its days so be careful what you get second hand
I don't think people realize that having working plumbing and electric is basically what separates first and 3rd world. I take this back the Korean people seems to appreciate these guys they get it.
It's so good to see that you explain everything to people, so they can know exactly what you are doing, and the fact that you work flawlessly it makes me want to go and live in Korea (not many companies or even workers in my country are as soft spoken and precise as you are, most of them are a**holes and you can tell that they don't like what they're doing)
This was absolutely fantastic. The hard work that went into cleaning these poor pipes was above and beyond what was expected. Your hard work and dedication made some people super happy, knowing that they won't flood again for awhile. I know Ratty and Ollie would be super proud of your hard work, like your subs are. Keep it up!!🥰😘😍😁
Many contractors here in the United States, after viewing both the percentage of blockage and the mentioned poor slope of the pipe, would recommend cutting out the whole pipe and redoing it. Either way, the cost would be an arm and a leg here.
The camera was going through water at the end, so there is a low spot in the drain. The oil would stick to the top of the pipe as it hardened. It would just build up layer by layer as they saw. It wouldn’t take much oil each time to build up thick over time.
So the pieces were just flushed into the septic tank? I would think the vac truck would suck them up then? You guys usually catch the pieces im those baskets. Anyway great video guys!! Your editing and sound effects are fantastic. 🙂👍👍👍😂
If I cook anything greasy, afterwards I'll pour my grease into a container and put in the freezer until it hardens. Then I throw it away in the trash bin.
That is still incorrect. Oil should not be discarded incorrectly, it really polutes the soil. What you need to do is re-use it in something else, like doing soap, or discard it at propper places.
The smell is always there even through masks depending on just how horrible it is You do get used to it and are able to continue working but it never becomes just something that you dont really think is really nasty

@Callen Emory No I don’t care
I like how they are all so soft spoken and joke around enjoying their work! Good job!
I don't speak the same language as them, but, it looked like it was going to get rough with the screwdriver in the beginning.
That one dislike is the person responsible for dumping all that oil in there
lol
I wonder if they ever figured out who was running the secret restaurant in their apartment lol.
Specifically In their bathroom 😆

Your pun gonna drain alright
When this whole situation is over, maybe DrainAddict could go on a holiday to Korea and work with you guys for a day or two.
Yes, but I have noticed, Drain Addict takes joy in destroying your yard sometimes.... I love it!
A damaged back doesn't come back. I'll have to use that haha ! Funny and awesome cooperative crew you all are.

In the 1940s, the US government had people save and donate their kitchen fats to the war effort. There’s a Disney propaganda short about it.

Love the commentary and the small jokes during the job, makes this channel different than what I've seen
Feels good to see all that oily stuff gets cleaned up from the pipes
So all of that is from pouring cooking grease down the sink or toilet? Unbelievable!!!! Great video!!!
If that amount was the ones they caught, just imagine the amount of oil sludge that passed them :0

The backsound when u got those is like found golds. Hilarious and at the same time satisfying to saw it.
It's the sound effect that plays when Mario picks up a coin lol
That oil had to be prehistoric!! Kudos to your team for getting that unclogged!!
You guys have SO MUCH personality, I love it! Your sound effects are great as well!
I’d send a few chunks to the lab for analysis! Great job guys, that was unreal...👍🏼👍🏼
Those big grease lumps looks like how a butterfinger looks like when it breaks apart.

ratty would have a feast with that grease.... Great work guys...
My wife is a plumber here in Alabama she has described some of this but seeing it is something else
This was so satisfying to watch 😄

Hi
Super job!!
Good job, I would have cried !
Ratty is a international star
This is great content
Great another one.
Good video. The second best drain channel I’ve found so far. Sorry, Ollie and Ratty are #1.
What happened to all the chunks that flew past the pipe opening too fast to be pulled out with that long grabber? Where did they end up?
I'm sitting here thinking of the bill. Ouch. And you all earned it.
Blocked drain...All good! 👍
Another good one. This is the first time I have seen grease or oil build-up like that. I don't understand how it gets so hard.
The camera was going through water at the end, so there is a low spot in the drain. The oil would stick to the top of the pipe as it hardened. It would just build up layer by layer as they saw. It wouldn’t take much oil each time to build up thick over time.

Good job !
that "sungmin-ah.. " kinda addictive hahaha

I would love to have this kind of business.
You call it "oil". I call it ✨ *PLUMBERS GOLD* ✨

there is a cleaning head that vibrates to knock concrete in pipes loose..could it not be used for grease?
Good work
This needs to be an anime.... 🌽🐭
squeaky clean, good job
these videos have same energy as dr pimple popper
Do you guys talk to the people about not flushing grease/oil down the sewer?
Sure
What is that bgm? And my god that is one greased up pipeline
The oil kinda reminds me of a butterfinger. Just needs chocolate lol
I literally thought the same thing. Lol.

@@ifpstopmotions9720 yes I put my oil in soap, which in turn gets washed down the drain
@@Americasanders yes, I do.

im just curious, do you still smell how bad the smell was? or you have something to prevent the smell entering your nose?

This is where cadburys crunchie bars come from.
I wonder if minerals in water reacted with washing powder and oils?
Did you find any stuff toy in drain that causes blockages?
A vibrating head would break up the solid lumps faster. The type they used to break up concrete in pipes.
This was such a journey from start to finish. I'm still wondering what caused the great oil dam though.

What a nightmare! I hope you guys got paid A LOT for all that work! How long did it actually take?
