Girls, I absolutely love your videos, but the cake, i just cannot 😂😂 In case there are any upcoming birthdays, let me give you some advices for baking: 1. Please buy measuring cups and spoons. They are really cheap, and it makes the whole lot of difference in making. You should't measure tbs with an actual teaspoon, cause they are all different. Alternatively, if you prefer european recipes, you can buy kitchen scales and convert any american recipies into grams. 2. After you creamed butter and sugar together (and it takes longer than you would think), add eggs one at a time - there is only so much liquid that butter and sugar can take at a time. Don't add any other ingredients at that time. Wait until an egg is fully incorporated and add the next one. 3. Try sifting flour - although it is not necessary, but it does get rid of clumps that you may sometimes get. 4. MOST IMPORTANTLY. I learned this lesson after loads of baking mistakes and wasted ingredients - don't overmix!!! The only time you need to actually mix a lot is when you making bread dough like for cinnamon rolls. Not for cakes, pancakes, banana bread, muffins etc. Once you add flour, don't use handmixer, use a spoon or, even better, a rubber spatula and fold the batter. 5. When you put the cake batter in the oven, try to spead the tins out like in chess, so that all of them get an equal amount of heat. 6. Before getting the cake out of the over, try to stick a wooden toothpick in it - if it comes out clean, the cake is ready. Is there is batter on it, you need to keep it in the oven for longer. I've baked for awhile and I think the reason why the icing wasnt smooth is because the butter wasnt at room temperature. The butter should be, when you poke it, it leaves a dent and that's when you know its room temperature. Haha I've had the same problem when I baked before 😁 I hope you girls continue to bake in the future! 💕
