If you want my advice.. CentOS is stopping support soon of 8 (end of 2021) and they're not going to continue supporting CentOS stable instead focusing towards their rolling release stream. Idk if that's going to drive a lot of people away from the CentOS space because it used to be a very stable distro for servers. You might want to look at Rocky linux instead which is a spawn of the CentOS stable release model.
One doubt, after flashing the USB using etcher tool, we get direct install Centos option or we need to reboot the machine and enter into the BIOS setup?
I'm using an old PC, planning on downloading CentOS 8 to a USB or DVD. Do I just boot from the DVD drive or USB after building the ISO? Didn't seem to work on my Windows 10 laptop. Check the bios and it does boot from the Hard drive, DVD than the USB. It always boot up Windows, and than says, E: drive is not formatted. Guessing it doesn't see the Linux ISO at boot. Silly me, I have to change the boot order so the HD boots last. lol.
Make sure the dvd / usb is the first to boot not the hard drive. Also I suggest going with Rocky Linux since CentOS is deprecated as of this new year. Here's a link to the Rocky Linux install - ruclips.net/video/Z0Yv-od4rqs/видео.html

I want to take my windows files and back them up on my linux Centos 8 box. Sure the in the internet can show me how, but I liked your video so much. So it would be cool if you could show me how. Plus who knows I might run into problems. I am sure you know the way!
You probably just need to install SSH on all your computers and you can transfer files through the your local network from Windows to Linux through a terminal. Here are some videos I have on the subject -> ruclips.net/video/JbMgOKlj5fE/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/2u0I-U0D7Uk/видео.html All you'll need to install on the Linux side of things is openssh-server. @@SavvyNik yeah I figured it out. But then my file transfer was so large and I had to go sleep, Woke up and some of transfers failed. Which is fine, but it just makes me mad, because I do not want this Linux box to ever idle. I think that is what happened. Plus th subnets got messed up somehow on their own which is wierd. But yeah man, you are cool, I subscribed and liked. Thank you. Plus I am using Cenots 8 which is really nice. It installs all the latests Python and SSH, it is a dream. But the funny thing is, why is it so hard to install applications on Linux. I mean in Windows you just click on an icon and it just works. With Linux it has to install this stuff. Like I installed GNS3 and I was like where is the icon? I am no pro at linux yet, going for my LPI Cert. But man does installing stuff have to be this difficult in this day and age? Jeez. Well it is challenge to figure out. I used to hate Linux, but now I am getting really into it. Due to Python programming.
Yes, linux is supreme when it comes to development/programming. Good luck and look into package managers they'll help sort the application install issues out. They are extremely powerful when you understand how to use them properly. Even faster than just double clicking a setup exe because the download and install takes place all at once and any dependencies are found as well.
@Mahesh Pramod - The best? Wow that's a hard one to answer. I find there are different options depending what experience a user wants. If you want a distro with great support and that's stable I'd go with Ubuntu personally (LTS). There's so much documentation and information about Ubuntu it just makes things much easier. You also have so many different flavors to choose from. It can be bloated though and they've started adding services that can push data back to Canonical which sucks, but all these can be turned off in privacy settings. As far as, bloated you can install the server version and configure it however you want and that's minimal. Otherwise, if you are really strict and a minimalist I'd go with Arch Linux, but it can be a pain for new users and requires you to add in absolutely everything (time consuming). Finally, a mention if it's a new user who wants a similar Windows experience I like to suggest Zorin OS. I guess if I had to just pick one it'd be Ubuntu. I've used it for years now and it hasn't failed me and there's been great development with their stable releases and I see it continuing on for years to come! Hopefully, that gives you a little insight sorry for the rambling, but you posed a hard question! haha

Hi I am Rajasekaran, I have installed CentOS 8.4, After installation completed & reboot first one selected going to localhost# but grapgics mode not going help me.
Hi, just wondering what else should I need if I would like to create a web server for my clients. I'm a web designer and just tired of shared hostings. I would like to get an unmanaged dedicated server from the data center, where I will be able to install CentOS, but I'm not too sure what else should I consider installing there in order to be super secure, I know we are never secure enough, but you get the point. Again I can get the server with already pre-installed CentOS and CPanel, but are there many more tools that need to be installed to provide me a web hosting level security? Managed dedicated servers are super expensive, so trying to save a bit of money on the way to scale my business. Many thank for your time and thanks for the video!
Hi Maverick, glad you enjoyed the video. Honestly, in my opinion I wouldn't bother setting up self hosting on a dedicated server. There are just too many things that work against you now-a-days when you take the server public from DDOS attacks, SQL injection, software vulnerabilities (yes this includes software like apache as well), maintenance, backups/redundancy.. Of course there's more but I'll stop rambling. I think the easiest thing would be to create a cloud server for scalability, deployment, and keeping backups is super simple. At the end of the day you would probably saving yourself money not worrying about maintaining / monitoring a web server because there's direct solutions for this. Don't get me wrong there's still a place for dedicated servers, but I'd say those places are mainly in offices where you want storage or internal access to an web app of some sort. There's also programs to get you started like the google cloud which allow you to install a Linux web server and give you a bit of credit to keep it going for a year so you can get used to the platform. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but it might save you the headache.
@@SavvyNik that’s what I hear all the time when I ask this question. Yes I completely understand. I'm not sure I follow completely, but it seems like you will be changing the graphics card eventually.
