  • THIS is Why We No Longer Hear About WEN by Chaz Dean: Horrors of Wen Hair Care
    Introducing Wen Hair & Body care! A natural/holistic method of cleansing your hair suited for all hair types and people. The perfect replacement for your ordinary shampoo! That is, if you wanna be Cailou bald before you reach your latter years. Stylist Chaz Dean thought he was doing something when he introduced his highly raved and “innovative” method of hair washing! Say goodbye to lather and hello to moisture on top of moisture. Wen Hair Care was all the rave back in the 2000’s, peaking around the mid 2010’s. Celebrity Ambassadors like Brooke Shields & Alyssa Milano swore up and down that Wen was the holy grail hair care brand if you wanted your hair to go from drab to fab. Overtime we began to see Chaz, his QVC timeslot, and list of celebrity endorsements less and less and before we all knew it, Wen by Chaz Dean was merely a thought, if that. So, what happened to the ‘miracle’ hair care brand that was once so highly sought after? Well, allegedly being a WEN girly came with a few side effects including scalp irritation, skin rashes, and hair loss that resulted in a hefty lawsuit and the tarnishing of Chaz Dean’s reputation. (emphasis)This is why we no longer hear about WEN.

    I've been using wen for 8 yrs And I never had a problem with it. My favorite is the pink lemonade cleanser conditioner, In truth cleaner conditioner It have my curls popping. I co wash with it Every Sunday and Wednesdays. But I still shampoo my scalp once a month With Giovanni tree tea shampoo.
    I guess it's true. Everybody's hair's different because my hair never fell out. It's healthy and I use it to this day and I buy it off QVC. And I always do the split easy payment Until this day. And I will still continue to use it because It works for me if It ain't broke don't fix it. I use what works for me

    I have used Wen for close to 14 yrs. There was a time I couldn’t afford it and went with inexpensive conditioner only. I’ve also used salon brands, and another expensive brands all natural non-lathering and styling products. I have psoriasis and my scalp was severely affected and resulted in hair loses of my super dry curly hair. Long story short… when I started using Wen, my patches of psoriasis improved, the severe itch almost disappeared and my hair started to grow back where the psoriasis patches were leading to patchy hair loss. Even though I have tried other products here and there, I always come back to Wen. It is a winner for me. It’s sad that so many felt like it damaged their hair. A good product is not for every person. As a medical professional I know there are MANY different conditions that can result in hair loss. While changing a hair product I suspect was causing my hair loss, I would also be in my Dr office to exclude medical conditions that may have hair loss as a symptom.

    I've been using Wen Conditioning Cleanser since it first came out. I haven't gone back.
    Don't believe everything you see. This video would have you believe that Wen is out of business; they're not. Also, they didn't lose the lawsuit, it was settled out-of-court.
    Greedy people and greedier lawyers trumped up a bogus law suit. Big class action suits cost a lot to defend and only the lawyers make money from them. If Wen didn't make the business decision to settle, it would have cost them even more in lawyers and court costs along with having this cloud over their heads.
    People can put anything in a video; even if it's misleading.

      Either this story is a lie or your dermatologist is very inexperienced. You absolutely can lose hair because of products. Many, many published studies document this. Any product or substance can cause contact dermatitis and the irritation and hair loss that comes with it.

    I started using Wen products a year ago. I had hair loss and heard about his Tonic. I tried it, along with a bunch of other products. I still have several because they come in such large bottles. You are supposed to use a lot of product. Now i am wondering if they are too old! ? I love how my hair feels and looks. Yes, a couple products irritated my scalp so i had to toss those (and my hard earned $$$ -it isn't cheap) but i have found the products that work. A couple products were not exactly described clearly so i spent more money just trying to figure out what works - as we do with all products. In the end ... im a fan - it is frustrating that i had to spend a lit before seeing what worked.

  • @starmessenger

    I adored Wen! I was in my 50's, with hopelessly old, dull, coarse hair. Then I tried Wen and to my utter surprise, my hair felt soft again, very close to how it was when I was young. Also, it was a breeze to wash my hair. Instead of two shampoos and one condition, followed by struggling with snarls - with Wen I only did the one shampoo-condition, and ran the comb through my hair like butter, right in the shower! To say I loved Wen would be an understatement. .. I think that people who seemed to lose hair with Wen, were people who were losing their hair anyway. Before Wen, I never combed my hair in the shower. So I did an experiment.. tried using other shampoos and conditioners, and combing my hair in the shower. As much hair fell out with the latter as with Wen. You notice the hair loss when combing in the shower. Combing in the shower, your hair is so slippery that you can pull a small handful out. But if you comb it after the shower, it's not as apparent.. you are losing it in your brush, on your clothes, on the carpet, and never realize how much hair you are losing.
    Anyway, the reason I stopped using Wen is the cost. I am unable to afford it. I couldn't even afford it at the old price of $30 a bottle. I would buy 5 for $100 on QVC when I had a small windfall. Today, Wen is $40 a bottle. You have to be fairly well off to afford Wen. .. If I ever win the lottery, I will buy Wen again, and I will wash with Wen twice, then use a clarifying shampoo (or spray diluted vinegar), then go back to the Wen, and so on, to keep it from building up.

      I love the product and always shop there clearance. I’m not crazy about their mousses, but love their styling cream. I also don’t need as much as the instructions call for and find the product thick enough I often add a bit of water before rubbing it on my hands and putting it in my hair. Since I don’t wash my hair everyday, it’s a larger one time expense, but I only buy it two or three times a year. It’s worth it to me because it actually improves the psoriasis on my scalp.

    • @jenniferlloyd9574
      @jenniferlloyd9574 5 месяцев назад +3

      Same here. Then Wen started saying that if you're sure having build up, it's because you're not using enough product at one time... Um. No.

    • @justtasting
      @justtasting 5 месяцев назад

      @@jenniferlloyd9574, Actually that's kinda true. You weren't using it right: you don't just smear it on and then lightly rinse. You have to use it as if it's a regular shampoo - you need to scrub it and massage your scalp the same way you do with regular shampoo without all the suds (just use more product) and rinse thoroughly and repeat. Your hair should be squeaky clean, or you're not doing it right. Then, instead of using a conditioner, use more of the product applied in the same way you would a conditioner and gently rinse leaving a little bit of the product remaining on your hair.
      If you don't use enough product and don't rinse thoroughly, the product and the dirt, oil and other products you've used stay on your hair making it look dull and feel lifeless and sticky.
      I know that sounds wrong, but I initially had the same problems with it but I tried to make it work because I couldn't find any other shampoos that didn't have added fragrances that triggered my allergies. Two of the Wen varieties don't have added fragrance and they're since added a completely fragrance free product.
      I've been using it since it was first put on the market. I tried regular shampoo twice during that time time but, aside from the overly perfumed smell my hair came out a dry tangled mess. I had to re-condition it multiple times.
      I wouldn't put too much faith in this video - Wen is still on the market - the Chaz Dean website is still the best place to buy. I'm not sure if QVC is still around, but if they are, I'm sure you can still get it there, too.
      I followed this lawsuit carefully when it was going on and I was asked if I wanted to join in. I said, "No!" but I still got a settlement payment (which I used to buy more Wen Conditioning Cleanser.
      The class action suit was a con job set up by greedy lawyers looking for a big payout. I remain unconvinced that anyone was harmed by this product. The primary evidence was photographs of a grinning woman and her very young daughter sporting obviously shaved heads. I've never heard of anything that causes every hair on a person's head to fall out at once, and they didn't even have a single picture of them while their hair was coming out a few strands at a time.
      Wen settled out of court so they could put these crazy people out of their lives without further expense and damage to their reputation. I heard reporters confidently state as evidence that shampoos often have (fill in list of chemicals commonly found in other shampoos) without mentioning that NONE of those chemicals are in any Wen products.
      Wen WAS NOT put out of business by this lawsuit and they are still going strong.
