By far the best sampledrum tutorial on RUclips. I’ve actually learned a few things this time. Never saw output mode visualizer or the CV +/-input modes. Excited to try these out now. Thanks :)
So glad I pulled the trigger on this thing, I’ve been dying for an easy way to record samples from my eurorack in real time and to incorporate break beats can’t wait for it to arrive
This weekend I had a vision as clear as can be of you doing a song sampling "There is always money in the banana stand!" from Arrested Development. I have no idea why. There it is. Have it it.
this was one of the best demo's for a module i've seen in a long time... tell folks what is being plugged in to do something is great for understanding what is happening..! i'm going to sub this channel and look at more stuff.! maybe i just what to make "Modular jungle" like @Martin Sotirov said in the comments.!
Its pretty much the most powerful thing on the techno system, its kinda ridiculous. Record from the drone mode on the techno system into the Samplr and boom, your eating notes and tones just like you did from the spherical. Its just crazy the potential with this thing. Ive seen people solo rack it as just a complete synth on its on with standard deck DJ set ups.
8:12 One very nifty detail of the CV control when assigned to the delay time is that it tracks v/oct! That means that you can track another quantized melody out of the wet part of the delay
*tom*ber is actually closer to the French word I think, which might make it closer to the origin of the word. I don’t know what the rule is but if anyone is insisting it’s tam instead of tahm I don’t think that’s necessarily right.
Thanks awesome demo! I’m curious is it possible to load say 8-9 bass notes and sequence them in a way to make a bass riff via sequencer module ? Cheers
One thing I have been missing in modular samplers is a loop length parameter, which is a must for glitchy, experimental sample playback. Sample End as a parameter is not the same, because if you control both loop start and sample end with CV, if your End CV is lower than your Loop/Sample Start CV, playback stops (not in a good way), as in the case of the 1010music modules. I wonder how that is handled in this module?
You can use addition of two voltages to ensure one is always larger than the other...also In modular is less about precise loop lengths and more about resets to snap into sync.
P Godaz P Godaz Yes, but no. It’s not the same. And i must say your statement about modulars make no sense. It is always about what you want to achieve musically and performatively. Furthermore, I haven’t said anything about precision. And there is such a module, the 4ms STS, which has length instead end, and I have bought that instead of the Erica.
Pretty sure you will get many zero crossings in any audio sampled to a bipolar signal buffer but I suppose it's all about getting moments of low amplitude at those zero crossings.
Hi fantasitc review as always!!! Im subbed dude...having watched your reviews on the Rample and sample drum which would you recommend for a small hp setup with performance and range of features as main requirement?
If you have a long sample with lots of slices can you jump between slices and have each slice loop while changing the start/stop of the loop point for that slice? Can it get granular for each slice with a really short start/stop point?
Thanks for the vid ! Do you think it would be possible to sync loops in bpm sending triggers with a Korg Sq1? I am looking to play some breaks and melodic loops that could be sync with all my gear?
hey and thank you for this video! Made me buy one of these!! Would it be possible to use output 1 and 2 as left and right? like would it be possible to use stereo samples or do i always have to pick either left or righ of a stereo sample? many thanks again
also, it would be so amazing to see different ways to trigger the samples. Like the erica drum sequencer , has pads like an mpc, would it be possible to assign specific slices of a sample to the different pads ?
Thanks for this video, just got the sample drum a couple days ago, my only question is can something like drum breaks and other samples be warped to incoming trigger so that it can play the full loop no matter what the bpm is?
I'm a bit stuck in the choose between Erica Sample Drum and Bitbox Micro. The second one it seems on paper more powerful but the Erica Sample Drum apart the usability it seems more powerful for the live performance. Is there someone that can tell me somewath regard this things? The only concern that I have is the 16bit sample quality of the Sample Drum.
Hello! In minute 21 when u put the beat on the second channel, how do u clock it? How do u make sure it comes in at the bpm you want? Do u slice the beat and them trigger those slices??will really appreciate ur responde!!
You mentioned you get spikes (not sure what to call it) when using the zero crossing cut... Is it possible to add just a little bit of attack to the envelope for the channel as a whole?
@@prema9878 You were right of course- here I am a year and more later with 12U 104hp filled, and looking at this again wondering where I can find 14hp for it…
Wow, I feel like they might have messed up with the name! I love everything Erica Synths, but saw "sample drum" and thought it was something totally different
@@tiouip But the French pronounce “vin” like “van”, so it’s similar with the pronunciation of “timbre” - the French don’t pronounce it like it’s “Tim” at the beginning that’s what I’m trying to say.
I feel like lately Jeremy has two moods: ambient LSD trip and underground London rave circa 1991. Pretty sweet.
I feel absolutely called out. Haha. You're absolutely right.
haha xd
Modular jungle needs to be a thing. Seriously!
i think the same
Oh it's a thing!
It's like a synthesizer inside a synthesizer, very neat
Thank you. The walkthrough of the slicing and modulation was delightful.
I have used the surface of sample drum, and knew I could do better, so thank you ! .... now time to get all deep into it 🤩
By far the best sampledrum tutorial on RUclips. I’ve actually learned a few things this time. Never saw output mode visualizer or the CV +/-input modes. Excited to try these out now. Thanks :)
Oh ffs this module is outta control. The fact the screen looks like an '80s video game makes it almost painfully cool. Nice 1 fella.
Thank you ! More Erica Synth Sample Drum tips and tricks please.
Great video! Thank you the thorough breakdown. You have a great way of explaining things in detail while still keeping things interesting.✌️
So glad I pulled the trigger on this thing, I’ve been dying for an easy way to record samples from my eurorack in real time and to incorporate break beats can’t wait for it to arrive
This was one of the first modules I put in my Rackbrute 6u - So many voice options in such a small package. I absolutely love this thing.
Oh I'm I'm I'm kindauulujyii funny lol lol lol ìķkkkkķ
I like these module reviews a lot. Very well produced, very informative, very musical, very AWESOME!! Keep it up!

I'm thinking bout building a small system and this module is definitely getting added. thanks for the run down on what it can do
+1 for "teeeyamber". Also 12:00 that glitched drum break giving me some real Pitchshifter vibes 🔥
I had an eye on this modul for quite a while... now both eyes are looking straight on it... I don't know if I should thank you for that...
Great job! Very informative. Need to get one asap.

This looks like a really handy, useful little module, TBQH.

excellent video, thanks
Excellent tutorial, thanks
Great video tutorial on this awesome module. This is Super powerful device.
I wanna get to the point where I can understand what the hell is going on
Awesome tutorial man !
love your videos dude, I really want to expand my synthesisers and hardware and your videos are always a lot of fun
Holy moly that's impressive. It's like a Octatrack but modular and better...
Lol, not sure this has even a quarter the functionality of the octatrack, and it's tiny. But I see what you mean :)
I think I’m going to sample you saying tam ber for a track. I was cackling
This is fire, I love this. More eurorack module vids! How do you like sampling and slicing in the Sample Drum?
It's chill and easy as hell
Thanks for this vidéo, excellent
thank you for this
thank you !
That's dope
Tamber! hahaha cracked me up
Thanks awesome demo! I’m curious is it possible to load say 8-9 bass notes and sequence them in a way to make a bass riff via sequencer module ? Cheers
Yes
also.... it's 12 bit for recording, even though it plays samples from the sd card at 16bit 48k.
You know these are good modules when EBCIDIC replaced most of his drum modules with two of these.

if you could compare & contrast Rample and Sample Drum, which would you say is more useful to you
For ease of use, Rample. For functionality, sample drum.
@@RedMeansRecording much appreciated
*sigh* Bought, I have 2x Plonk so I’ll punt one of those and a 2HP sample and hold (have that function elsewhere as well) to make room for this.
Just got the techno system...hoping I can make some nice Dub chords with this
Absolutely

Ask yourself if you want to record in to your sampler. Then make the choice based on that :)
An now I must have it to.
Great video. Thanks will definitely looking at getting a SD.So many options ! BTW its Tambour is pronounced " Tam-ber" ( not anything else ) :)
Good friend, nice friend
Wonder what this and beads paired could do together
This gives me Samorost 3 OST vibes. Do you know that album? You should it’s amazing.

This or the vpme qd? I‘m leaning towards the qd, but this one looks awesome too. Tough decision.
Any opinions, internet?
Get the qd. It's extremely good.
How is the sound quality when sampling directly into the module, as opposed to using the SD card? Noticeable difference?
Slightly different

What do you recon is more fun the sample drum or rample? both quite different. cheers
Squarp Rample or Erica Synths Drum .Which one do you prefer?
This is why I got mine. Attatoy...

What case is your top one?
Trogotronic
Tambrr, tambrr
How do you rate it for usability and usefulness against the Rample?
I still love the rample for it's simplicity and because it has 4 voices. This thing is cool because you can build kits and record on the fly.
Like Digitakt🧐😂

Jeremy, it sounds like at 17:54 the audio became more stereo (almost like a chorus effect) from the moment just before. Did you change something?
Oaky tumbra
Timbre sounds like a stripper name '')
is there fine tune on the sample repitch?
can i add multiple effects to one sample slot?
this is so sik
Sample Drum or Squarp Rample?
both are cool, honestly.
Oh I see, the Rample lost it's cools.
Naw. I needed a sampler for my second system.
Tyamber.
Tambur
sounds great, sadly it appears you need a degree in quantum mechanics to use it.
I have one now it's not that bad actually lol
Onwards of the easiest modules to.use

It’s “tamber” because it’s French...
no, it’s TIMBRE. that’s french. But Anglosaxons can’t pronounce it.

Nope
