- Hi everyone, it’s been a minute! 😅 I switched to a new planner in April - the Papertess Designs Yearly Notebook - and I have been playing around in there ever since. In this video I share why I made the move and how I’ve been using this planner. I also share my gorgeous new leather cover from Elysian Paper. Thank you for watching! 💛

I was one of the one's disappointed because this was sold out, and then I realized it is very similar to the Annie Plans x Aura Estelle B6 Classic Daily I already own, which is undated. (Though the months and the weeks are not together, unfortunately.) The aha moment I had watching this is that I don't have to be tied to a page per day! I can use those 7 pages however I want! Trying again with this in mind! Thanks for this video, and I'll be watching for Tess's planners for next year!!

I too sometimes forget that there’s no prize for sticking with something that’s not working. Giving yourself permission to change things up as needed is so important! I’m happy for you.
Yes Meghan, you are so right! I choose not to switch planners regularly because I find it stressful and overwhelming, but it can also lend itself to a rut where I default to thinking I HAVE to use the system I’ve already chosen. I’m getting better at recognizing this and giving myself permission to find what suits me at this moment - and I am having so much fun with this planner! I am so happy to have scored one for 2024 looks like all my wishes ANSWERED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tess did something with this one I just hope she considers a half year one day and Im stuck for life. I have a common planer as well but this is just a dream because I can plan both horizontal and vertical, the month days and weeks together just yum!!

Hi Jessica! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. 😊 I hope you love the planner as much as I do. I’ll be trying out a few things for upcoming tasks:
1. If I want to get to them soon but don’t have a specific date I’ll write them in my weekly to-do list, and migrate/schedule as needed
2. If the task if day-specific I will write it in pencil in the weekly overview
3. If it is month specific I will write it in pencil alongside the monthly calendar

I debated long and hard between this planner and the Sterling Ink one. I bought the Common Planner but I love the layout in the PaperTessDesigns, too. By the way, I fell in love with your green Mansorah cover the first time you showed it. I have one on its way to me now. I can't wait to get it! (Thank you for being an enabler. 😉🥰)

I love all your planners! 😍 and what you said about "looking back" because the way the take a note is makes a lot of sense...I love how you can use the pages for your bujo!! This is so great! So nice when we find something that fits our style! I also tried some different things in my spread and kept it the entire week to see if I really liked it, or if I missed the "old" style. specially in weekly spreads I like to give the entire week also to see how it will look and how much work it will be, if it's something that only works at home/work. The cover is beautiful! I love the color combo you got! So beautiful 🥰

I found this planner at the end of February - and moved in! It's like the perfect combo of weekly layout, plenty of notes space [I love the flexibility week to week], and that everything [months + weeks + dailies] are all in the SAME spot. I too, dislike all the flipping back and forth. LOL. I love the paper, the cover and how it feels, and the minimal vibes which honestly - having such a clean slate to work with week to week allows my brain to follow the dopamine for whatever my brain needs that week for a layout. I set up some collections in the back, but I usually still have 1-2 blank pages free at the end of the week which has been nice! No panicking over here about running out of space lol!

I loved this video. Sometimes my mental health stuff makes me just go back to planner basics and other times I just want to pour out my feelings. I am also doing the victory a day to try to dispel the negativity biases I have. I missed your videos and that you for the time you give to this community.

I have been watching (and re-watching) all of your videos as your voice, pacing, and intention is so calming. Thank you for sharing!! I think I totally piggyback on preferring the month, week, and daily’s one after the other instead of clumped in sections. I bought a common planner this year… but have not been in it at all. 🥲 I’m in a simple notebook and creating my own spreads for now. Whenever you bring in a new planner, I get excited because then I get to try new spreads! Hahaha! Thank you Ellie!😊

Thank you so much Krissy, I truly appreciate your kind words. 🥰 I’ve found that no matter how much I love a planner in theory, I just won’t flip to different sections on a daily basis. 🤷🏻♀️ I was so happy to find this Papertess planner - it’s such a good fit for me. And I love that you’re using a notebook to make your own spreads; I find that simplifying always helps me get grounded and start to really enjoy the process again.

Thank you so much for sharing this planner. I bought the Aura Estelle to see how I would like the setup but I’m liking this one so much! I currently setup a B6 Stalogy but I print out my monthly and weekly every month. This one seems so flexible and has lots of blank pages between the week. It makes it so flexible. This may have to be my 2024 planner/tracker. This is my favorite layout yet!

Love your video!! I was lucky enough to find out about this planner right before the new year when everyone was on the Common Planner hype train. I’m not a vertical planner so I knew that wouldn’t be a planner I would use but someone in the Sterling ink group was talking about this Planner and the Weekly one. This is the closest thing to my perfect planner I have ever gotten in a printed bound planner. I’m so happy more people are starting to find out about it so that Tess keeps making them.

I moved into the PaperTess Yearly in April also. I was using the Hobonichi Weeks and needed more room.

I love Take a Note and have used it for 2 years now as my personal planner. I find it funny you set up your PaperTess basically the same way Take a Note is setup, but I do like the monthlies being spread out instead of all at the front. That’s what I find myself not liking about most planners I otherwise love - like you mentioned, I dislike flipping a lot if I don’t need to. I came across PaperTess Designs due to a Sterling Ink planner review (another planner I use) and then found yours. I really hope there will be 2024 PPT planners because I definitely think I will buy one. Thanks for your in depth and birds-eye view!
You’re right! 😄 The way I’m using this is very similar to the Take A Note layout, which I did love - the Papertess just gives me more flexibility when I don’t use a full column per day or want to add notes or collections throughout. All the planners you’ve mentioned - Take A Note, Papertess, Sterling Ink - are such great options!! It’s fun to figure out what works best for each of us. 😊 Thank you for watching!

Oh my… I’m in love with your cover colors. I’ve been looking for a shop that can do custom covers for Sterling Ink’s 520 page standard notebook since the ones I have now are not a great fit… but most of the places I’ve found either don’t offer customization or are really difficult to purchase from. I may have to reach out to this shop and see if they can make me a trifold that is the perfect size.

❤ I love this planner! I’ve been flipping around for the last few years trying to find planners for work and personal (I have to keep them separate), and found the Sterling Ink to be the best fit for work, as the note pages are not related to any week or month. But it just doesn’t feel right for personal, so I’ve been all over the place, including back to bullet journal - very freeing and relaxed but I hate having to draw spreads - I’m impatient so never really take the care and time, and over the last few years have also suffered low moods, anxiety etc, so I have been looking for the right mix of structure and freedom - and this is it!!! Unfortunately it’s sold out now, but I intend to pick it up for 2024. Thanks 😊❤

The Papertess looks like it might be perfect for my household planner - I'm currently using a Hobonichi Weeks, but like you I dislike having to flip to the back to get to the extra pages. I use a version of the Alastair Method for soft-scheduling tasks, so having an unstructured design where I can create my columns should work really well for me, I think!
Yesss, if you also dislike flipping back and forth this may be a great option, and I find it so helpful to have a running task list for the week! I know Tess is sold out of this year’s planner but she *will* be releasing one for 2024! Thank you for watching. 😊

There are so many aspects of this planner I love and are a good fit for me. But the Common Planner has other aspects I love and need. For me it was more finding the one that was the most perfect fit - because both have pluses and minuses.
I prefer my months and weeks together. But I also prefer a half year because I like a fresh start and less bulk. I also don’t like all my collections mixed in my weekly spreads. I can make a horizontal overview work for personal but with all I have going on the vertical weekly is a little better for me.
Ideally I’d take parts of the common planner, the PaperTess and wonderland222 and combined it would be my perfect planner. I’ve actually thought about figuring out how to develop one myself but not sure I can swing that. But I have visions of one 😝
😆 Isn’t it funny to think that if we all designed our own planners they might have similar components but also be so unique to our needs?? I’m glad that the Common Planner is working so well for you. I find it such a relief to find a system that feels comfortable, easy, and functional. Thank you for watching! 😘

I started with the Hobonici Avec, and the order of the pages drove me mad lol. This year I used a B6 from Kuyoko, but I am going to switch to your planner, the Aura Estelle or the Monkey one :). I am learning towards the Aura as I prefer when the planner is split into 2 annual parts.

Hey Ellie. Love wathcing and following your planner vids. Im debating about the b6 papertess and i had a question about the thickness of this planner. Do you know or have you heard of anyone using a cover for this planner - like a Moterm. I just used a b6 plannermonkey planned plus - and i really love how the papertess is laid out. I do like that everything is together, not needing to flip back and for monthlies. Is this hard to ship to Canada, based on your own experience...and do you or anyone else that you now thats used this planner use a vinyl clear cover and a leather planner cover like a Moterm.
Hi Susie! Thank you for watching and for your kind words. 😊 I didn’t have any trouble with the planner coming to Canada, though shipping was quite expensive. I also don’t have a Moterm cover - I’d suggest asking in the Papertess Facebook group to see if anyone uses one! I hope that helps. ☺️

Hi Cathy! I’ve linked Ryder Carroll’s video in the description so that you can check out the source. I can give a brief overview of what my main takeaways are - again, this is directly from the video “The Hidden Dangers of Journaling” on the Bullet Journal channel:
- My journal/planner is a reflection of what I’m choosing to focus on
- Rapid log two things each day: one thing I’m grateful for and one victory
- Set aside time for a weekly written reflection and write about the week based on my daily logs. Study what I’ve written objectively/with curiosity and see if there is any action to be taken
