    I have owned this bass for over a year and a half. I play it as much as my Pbass. I play it way more than my 73' Rickenbacker. I love this thing. I always run it wide open both pickups! ALSO. I installed American made Hipshots with the Drop D tuner. This thing is Amazing drop D!!

    I finally received my 2021 Non Reverse Thunderbird in Faded Pelham Blue last October 2022 after waiting a year for it to arrive, .. I had to do a little tweaking on the bridge height when I received it, I was able to get the bridge height to where I live it ( 6/64" on the bass side & 5/64" on the treble side , . the neck is a but thicker than my 2015 Gibson Thunderbird, but it's not a big dea as it still feels & and sounds good. Other than that, there were no flaws in the finish or workmanship when I opened the case & took it out for the first time. It's such a cool looking bass that will retain its value, I agree in regard to some of the review videos on this bass on some You Tube channels they were a little harsh & unfair on this bass in my opinion , I love mine I am still considering whether to swap the bridge out for a Hipshot or Babicz bridge or keep it stock,
    It's a lot of bang for the buck when you consider the case & case candy that cones with this bass ( as you said) anyway. Thanks as always, Chris .

    This bass needs a funky colored pickguard! It does sound really good. It has a p like punch but jbass at the same time as you said in the video. Cool bass! Nonaffiliated but there seems to be a brand new one on reverb for $1700 in utah. They look like theyre going for 2199-2399 otherwise. I hate inflation in the bass market....

    Great video and very cool bass indeed. That could be the one for me. I've never played bass before but I've been playing and teaching viola for decades now. I also play rock guitar. I have several friends, mostly guitarists who've expressed interest in doing the power trio thing and that would mean I'd jump in on bass. I know what I like in guitars and I definitely cannot do the poly finish thing. That criteria alone eliminates the majority of instruments and by default puts us into a price point that is generally higher. I don't know anything at all about bass amps but for now I'd likely get a combo of some sort, maybe an Ampeg. I have been looking into the Ampeg RB 210 which seems to be quite versatile and relatively lightweight.
    I am not currently a bassist nor would I ever simply assume I could just jump in and sound like a killer bass player from day 1. That would be an insult to bassists everywhere and I don't think I am delusional. I do however trust my solid musical foundation and experience to believe I could grow into it and offer something worthwhile. I haven't had this conversation with any bass players around so I don't know if I am way off here and woulkd perhaps be better served entering into this realm at a lower price point or not. In general, I need to love the instrument I am playing and that's just not going to happen in the $500 range. Anyway, I am 100% open to any and all feedback from any player who cares to chime in on this. It will be tremendously helpful.

    How are the volume pots on yours? This is my first Gibson bass, and it seems the volume knobs for each pickup aren't very linear. Both are quiet until you reach about 8, and then the volume for the pickup scales dramatically. Is that normal for Gibson basses? :)

    Well, The thing that I dont get is that everyone says Gibson basses are way to expensive. But fender’ s American product line is also around 2000 euros. Considering Gibson's paint craftsmanship, and the Thunderbird is a-neck through bass(not the nonreverse one ). So compared to others, is Gibson really expensive? Does it really not have good value for money?

    • @yakeeb3742
      @yakeeb3742 Год назад

      Gibsons are ABSOLUTELY overpriced. While they’re certainly very nice instruments, the competition simply removes any justification of it. As for Fender, they too are overpriced, but they have a reputation for being a bit more consistent QC-wise and for going outside the norm more often. But no matter which you choose, you could be getting a comparable/superior instrument for half-price or less from countless other brands (i.e. Schecter, Sire, ESP, Michael Kelly, and Tagima to name a few)

    • @maxchenhg5469
      @maxchenhg5469 Год назад

      @@yakeeb3742 That’s ture , the overpirce it is a problème.Then personally, I think that the price should still consider the factors of origin, and I do not believe that origin completely represents higher quality. But the fact is that some origins are more expensive, and this does not correspond to quality and cost-effectiveness. That’s the world we live on, anyway my point is If you are looking for value for money, you can buy very good instruments at a very low price, but you cannot criticize Gibson while praising Fender US for being a great value at the same time(That is something I see a lot) . Fender QC is not a dream sawell (Gibson is slightly worse).

      The first thing I did was buy a wide leather strap. This bass feels light. It does have a little neck dive. I personally feel the neck dive is only because of the horn being over the 17th fret instead of the 12th like a P-Bass. That is what makes it tough to play at first.
