This was the best video I could find for this topic. Such clear explanations and proper pacing so it didn't feel rushed either. Thank you for making this video!
very clear and useful, and it is good to have a presentation by someone who knows how a compressor works. Often in official tutorials and books (of different audio and video editors), compressors are skipped as there seems to be a lack of true understanding of this indispensable tool. Hope they will make compression more efficient in Fairlight with a better monitoring of the audio signal being processed and how the signal changes.
Really great video, thank you so much! Not only was the editing spot on, making it easy to follow, but the audio was also so good and everything explained really well.
You sir have helped me sort an audio issue, where the audio was too low in some part and loud in others. I used the compress and then amplified the result. I could have done it quickly in Audacity, but I am learning how to do these things in Fairlight (Davinci Resolve). Thanks!
Thank you so much for this! I've been taking my audio files to Logic Pro for sound design, as I wasn't able to figure out sidechaining in fairlight. This is a gamechanger to my workflow! :)
Would be great to se you using the sidechain for other things than ducking the music. Seam like its hard to get any vst plugins to use the data the built in compressor is sending.
@@AhmedThahir2002 The answer is no. Think about it. Mr Music & Ms Compressor are getting it on having a grand time. Suddenly Mr Dialog smashes in, grabs Ms Compressor demanding that she come with him. But Mr Music refuses. "You'll have to wait you're turn!" he spouts. Cause Ms Compressor can only handle one at a time. "It's just the way I'm built" she says. The Compressor can be triggered by either the signal from the track itself, or from another track via the Listen button. It's one or the other. This makes sense. Cause even if the dialog signal could get to the music ... then what? The Compressor is setup for the Music ... and has no idea what to do with this Dialog interloper. But, and perhaps this is my inexperience, why would you add active compression to the music track itself? For me, by the time the music gets to the timeline, it has ALREADY been pre-processed, fried, dyed, and swooped to the side. It is ready to GO!. Maybe add some ducking for flavor, stir and serve. Adding additional processing after the fact seems crazy to me.
I’m so confused. I didn’t hear any music at all in the whole tutorial. What gives? I didn’t see any demonstration where the music can be Autoducked....?

The best tutorial on RUclips thank you so much!

You say that, but their description of the hold and release values are wrong. There are other, broader problems, too, imo/
Sir you are a fantastic narrator. What I perfect voice for an audio editing tutorial! and finally I know how to stop my attacks using threshold.
I used to manually adjust the audio levels. This is so much better. 😂
I was trying to use plugins to do side chaining when I ran across this video, which made the whole process real easy.
Really great video, thank you so much!

Absolutely awesome. So stoked about making the switch from Adobe. Cheers
Awesome! Exactly what I was looking for
This was very powerful. I like playing around with Audio and this will help. Thank you.

Excelente apresentação: prática, clara e didática (mesmo usando o tradutor automático do RUclips!)
This was very helpful, here is 5 stars ★★★★★
That was amazing. Thank you so much. This will greatly improve my workflow.
Cool, man! Great quality in this tutorial. Thumb up and suscribed!
Very nice video! Thanks for the info!
Sick bro - thanks! Subbed!

Very good thank you!
Many thanks.
what do i do if i want to perform regular compression on music but also want to do ducking
You apply a compressor to the track or individual clips, then use keyframes to manually duck the audio
@@rippleguys is there no way to do both compression and automatic sidechaining?
