  • I took the red city tour bus to see the popular sights of Johannesburg. It also included a 2-hour extension tour of the township of Soweto, described as the “New York of Africa.”
The Johannesburg Green Tour started in Rosebank and explored the leafy suburbs stopping at all top attractions, including Mandela Foundation, the Johannesburg Zoo and the Military Museum, before reaching Constitution Hill. It changed to the Red City Tour and continued around the inner city visiting the Mining District, Gold Reef City Theme Park and the Apartheid Museum before returning to Constitution Hill via Newtown and ultimately back to Rosebank. world.
    2h Soweto tour Highlights
FNB Stadium (known as Soccer City during the 2010 FIFA World Cup), the biggest stadium in Africa, is built in the form of a calabash or a Zulu clay pot
    Diepkloof, a diverse neighbourhood
Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, built during the Second World War and the largest hospital in the world
Bara Taxi Rank, the largest taxi rank in Johannesburg
Orlando Towers, a colourful landmark popular for bungee and base jumping and abseiling
Orlando Stadium, the first ever sports facility built for black South Africans in a residential area
Hector Pietersen Memorial in Orlando West
Vilakazi Street, the only street in the world in which two Nobel Prize winners have lived
Visit to the Soweto Brewing Company

Did you know that all the tree you see in Johannesburg were actually planted? The whole of Joburg was a dry savanna.

That's interesting! With weather being pleasant year round, it's hard to believe that area being dry and barren. I guess it makes sense though. I do remember one of the tour guides saying that pipes had to laid for many miles to bring in water away because there were to lakes in the area.

You know what? That is exactly what I said when I got to South Africa! I told a friend that if someone blindfolded me and drop me in the middle of South Africa, I would think I was still in the US. That was one of the reasons I stayed there almost 3 months when I only planned for 1 month.

@@eugenejustin8487 yes, you and your family are going to love SA. You might not want to leave. LOL
I probably would've stayed a little bit longer, but now it's heading into winter time for that part of the world and I've been trying to avoid winter in any country.

Hello thanks for sharing this video. We are planning to video Johannesburg in November and staying in Melrose Arch area, just wanted to know is there's public transportation to use to get to this bus? Thanks

I don't recall seeing any buses (I'm assuming you are talking about from the airport) Just take Uber. It's safe, inexpensive and relatively available at all hours. .

Do you regret going to Africa yet?

Regret? Oh no, no, no! I wish I had gone there sooner. I don't think I would've experienced Africa the way I did had I not visited there personally.
