C-USA commissioner Judy Macleod should be sending Middle Tennessee St a thank you basket every month. If they don't turn down the invitation from the MAC then I'm not sure the league exists today. Cause they would've been left with 3 schools.
@@zerocool1980 If not for Middle Tennessee getting cold feet, it and WKU would've taken their rivalry to the MAC and I'm not sure what the remaining CUSA members would've done after that. The Blue Raiders altered the course of college sports history.
I’ve covered Mo St since 2007. We have had bad fb coaches excluding Petrino. That has meant poor results on the field and in the stands. Men’s bb is similar. WBB is renowned in cbb. Jackie Stiles in the day…and we have been showing well in the NCAA tourney recently. MTSU is good, but we have great gals. Very curious how this stacks up. Baseball has produced many major leaguers and has high expectations. Softball has done well too. Soccer and other sports have some playoff experience. In regards to the arena memorabilia, there is a guy named Jimmy who was equipment manager for decades . He now is part of the courtside bb tech crew..timeouts, scoring, clock etc. Beyond obvious trophies, he squirreled away a BIG portion of the stuff shown in the museum cases…or that exhibit prob would have been a few trophies and a bunch of pics. It seems in most sports overall in the Valley, which is an above average D-1AA/FCS conference, the bears have consistently been above average. Deep down we are more MBB/WBB with BB more respected than FB. But we have seen WSU and Creighton leave…this is not a clear cut fit for us…BUT…in this changing landscape, even being FCS holds a lot more standing going into the future than being a very good FCS school like the Dakotas schools. I liked the Valley. There were always 2 top tier teams in any sport you didn’t want to see and they would shift as programs grew or didn’t. We could get Ark/Miz/KSt/OSU regularly too. The one thing we lack is booster support $ wise. We have a few whales but lack local and student/graduate outreach. Even a $1 a month campaign could raise a hundred grand…and open the idea of other tiers. I’m cautiously optimistic but hopeful. That said, admin has been both bullish but also conservative…the folks doing day to day related need to step up.
Women’s basketball has been the most important sports program at Missouri St. They will be head and shoulders above the rest in the conference against the other women’s programs
WKU, MTSU, and LaTech all have strong women's basketball programs. Missouri State is right up there with them, but "head and shoulders above" is a stretch.
I drank some beers in that arena while under construction (my roommate ripped a tunnel through some construction debri). Everything said here was awesome.
14 years ago, Missouri State dropped a few sports: both tennis teams, men's cross country, men's indoor/outdoor track and eight years ago field hockey. Only women's tennis has been brought back.
This is a very good move. C-USA should absolutely focus on the MVFC and take as many of those programs as want to move up. Northern Iowa would be a good target to look at next. In some instances, C-USA should only add the football program which is often easier to do when you're dealing with the MVFC. C-USA should also target schools that only do Olympic sports, but if they do very well go ahead and bring them in.
Hopefully you will be doing a realignment video on the WAC. Can you cover what the options are for the WAC to survive? Where ACU and SFA look to be headed? Tarleton and UTA headed where?
Gonna have to push that back to Friday. Sorry! I overestimated how much time it takes to compile info/make graphics. That's my favorite video to do as well.
@@d1_360thanks for the update. Heard rumors that the Valley is looking at/vetting NKU, Little Rock and Central Arkansas. Can’t wait for your expansion video.
Im a Mizzou fan so its weird to no longer be the sole FBS team of the state. I honestly hope MO State really climbs quickly somehow and develops into a solid in state rival. It does have the making of the classic city school vs rural school as most of the state including St. Louis and Kansas City would stick with Mizzou while the rural southwest, ozark, and maybe bootheel would be drawn to the Bears.
@@zerocool1980 the MAC hasn’t done a FCS to FBS transition other than the UMass football only fiasco since Akron. We’ll see if they’re motivated to try that now.
So now we ask ourselves the question: Who replaces Missouri St? I'd lean towards Milwaukee. 2) Northern Kentucky 3) Wright St 4) UM Kansas City. This is a stretch but a dark horse candidate. 5) Bellarmine
I'm a big Belmont fan but I'm not surprised that their fanbase is that low. A bit surprised about Murray. But when you get the first game on day 1, I can see why the low turnout.
@@zerocool1980 That's exactly what I think was the issue with Murray: their only game was the dreaded Thursday Noon slot (low turnout for all leagues). Murray took over Evansville for the OVC Tournament, so I expect they'll do that again once Murray's back to contending.
I forgot about how the men's March Madness selection committee screwed the Bears. San Diego State should've gone dancing alone from the MW in 2006. Air Force had no business snagging an at-large bid in '06 over a clearly superior Missouri State side.
Loooong overdue for Mo State. They should’ve been focusing on football years ago despite its basketball success. Makes no sense to have been FCS for so long
If they're are willing to fork over 5 million to make a the jump to the weakest fba conference you better believe they are going to make the investment and effort to get atleast to utsa or liberty level.
@@twomasta lol Im sorry but there have been schools in FBS who elevated decades ago who still haven’t hit that level. No guarantee MO State would either
Theory: Mizzou (SEC) was the sole FBS program in the state, the remaining SEC programs would prefer the instate talent be split off to another instate FBS program. I think this was a fantastic choice of C-USA!!!
Welcome Bears family!!
It's unreal the recent growth of Conference USA. They were on the verge of dying 3 years ago.

MWC needs to make WSU and OSU full members and add NDSU, SDSU, Montana, and Montana State.
