  • This video demonstrates both NX assembly constraints, and GD&T datum reference frames. Thinking about assembly constraints using a GD&T methodology will help create constraints without over or under constraining the assembly.

Thanks for explaining a bit better than most other videos!
I'm sitting here trying to learn basic CAD (from a hobbyist perspective, so no prior higher education on this subject) and in every single video the presenter's are like "okay lets put a dateum plain here, now make these lines constraints, make these lines construction, make a tangent arc bevel curve here, and then delete all of your lines and loft your xnurbs via these 20 different drop down menus I'll go through incredibly quickly without explaining anything."
And I'm just sitting here like... "Okay this is the very first tutorial on this software for Absolute Beginners... what is a constraint! What is a datum plane! What is a XYZ123!!"
So, honest question: Where would you suggest I start as a hobbyist who will not be going to college to learn the basics of this at 45 years old, what would be at least just kind of like the best book or series of videos on a tutorial or training website or anything - anything at all that just describes these basic fundamental ideas of datum planes, constraints, tangents, etc, etc, when it comes to sketching and CAD modeling. Once I understand the basics of what these things actually are then I can actually start understanding these tutorial videos. Surely there is some type of linda.com or a video on RUclips or a decent textbook on Amazon or ebay that explains the basic tools, ideas and concepts behind sketching and modeling in 3D CAD software.

I would suggest you look at the very excellent tutorials by Paul McWhorter. ruclips.net/video/y5tp4QXciK4/видео.html

Great video. I appreciate the correct GD&T terminology, the discussion of degrees of freedom, and going beyond the simple case of using 3 planar datum features for a part.

TamChau, at 8:18 in the video it gives your answer. Here at the end, I mention the shortcuts I used. I press ESC on the keyboard to deselect all objects. I press F5 as the shortcut for Refresh to clear the DOF marker.
