The singer 201 and the 66 both use class 66 bobbins. The old style had one hole, newer ones have 3 large holes and one small. I have the same machines and l agree that the 201 with its rotary hook is my favorite, the 66 is a close second. That cabinet top looks like mine did, they are easy to re do. The old shellac can be easily scraped off. A light sanding and 2 - 3 coats of spray shellac. Done in a day. Great instructional video, lots of good information, thank you!
Thanks for doing this video. The first seam is a called a French seam. I normally press the seams both before and after to make it neater. Excellent for children's cloths. Second seam is a called a mock flat fell (FF) seam. (Flat fell seams are found on men's shirts and on the outer seam of jeans). You need a FF foot to do a true FF seam, it rolls the fabric under as you sew, similar to a rolled hemmer.
Very good video. The 3in1 oil isn't a good oil to be using in a sewing machine. When I was beginning to sew I too used 3in1 oil and it would gum up my machine. I switched to the zoom spout sewing machine oil that you can pick up at Walmart in the fabric department. Its really really great oil to use
I love vintage machines, finding them and collecting them both.
Very good advice for beginners and experienced sewers too!
Thank you for your positive reply.

Thank you. I am getting ready to make some bread bags out of linen and will be using a French seam.
Great video!
