Worked for Enterprise rent a car as a driver. Moved a lot of cars from our branch in Altoona to the Pittsburgh Airport. Watching your trip brought back a lot of memories. Thank you. And another thank you for not playing any music.
For clarification, your video starts in Hollidaysburg. I live one street below where you started recording. Grew up on Cresson Summit. Know those roads like the back of my hand.
Thanks so much! I want to visit Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, and was curious if the drive had any "gotchas" to be on the lookout for. As I get older, I get less confident about driving in mountains and stuff, but this looked easy breezy.
A portion of this route is my daily commute.....Snowy weather makes it a bit tough on the drive up and down the mountain to/from Altoona. I remember the lane closures near the Lilly Rte 53 exit....about a year or year and a half ago.
When I think of 22, I think of 22/78 through the lLehigh Valley. This is a stretch of road to be avoided during rush hour as it approches route 5 in LA for congestion.
The far right lane is only meant for slow moving trucks going up the mt out of altoona on 22, just so you know , it could be dangerous to pass in that lane, your very lucky you didnt happen on one while going fast

Beautiful video!
The concrete sounds between 981 and 66 combined with the patches on the right lane are just awesome!
20:30. Munster exit. That’s where we live!!
Yup made this drive many times when my dad was in the VA in Altoona.

Feel your pain. I grew up in Cresson. Fun stuff in winter! Moved down off the mountain when I married.
Relaxing drive. loved it.
