I watched probably a hundred videos on composting and you stoked me: this is the most clear, concise and accurate one! I only wish all content makers had your communication skills and respect for an audience. Thanks for the delight!
I love your channel . Specially the songs at the end , I do that around the house all day describing what I'm doing , lol . Really good stuff , thank you .
Nothing better than watching a crazy gardener give us amazing gardening tips and at the end celebrating with a song and happy PVC heads buried in his graden. 💯
This is my favorite song 🎵 thanks for the video! I've had a worm tower in the garage for two years now. Just put a tray in each of the raised veggie beds. Going to add a compost tube next.
I did something similar with a 2.5 bucket from Lowes with a lid . I use kitchen scraps and fill the bucket of water . Im going to follow your instructions on the liquid nitrogen and use my dried leaves from the patio .Thank you !
Thanks. There is a new one coming out on growing trees that is super helpful. Right now I have it on my channel in Spanish but I just finished the English version. (With song. 😜) I think you’re making a sane decision. I did that 4 years ago, but without friends, and even though it was the most difficult thing I ever did, it was also the most rewarding.
It would be really good if you did an update video on how this goes. I would be very interested on the outcome in let's say a few months to a year. I'm assuming you would need to empty it out at some point and refill or reposition it elsewhere? Also, it would be interesting to see what happens to the growth of plants near the tube as opposed to those further away
@@GrowingTogether Watching the video, I thought of placing several in an out Spiral of my 30 by 30 and likewise in an inward spiral and then starting on the outside, place the food going in week by week Clockwise to the center. Then out, by the Counterclockwise Spiral week by week. Kinda like Worm Herding using a Galaxy pattern. Cheers, jack
You, my dude, are like an extension of one of the voices in my head, but you can play guitar. Now I have to go back to the "root training" video of yours because apparently I missed the song. I clicked on the info link before the performance and after hearing "black gold worm hole" I feel like I missed out
I LOVE the Two videos I just watched (this one & tree planting) I was looking on line and found out that PVC is Toxic... I'm trying to cut out Hormone Disruptors of the plastics, which is hard to do! Is there a particular type that you are using & is there is BPA FREE & PP (#5 hpde) & Food Safe PVC Pipe? Or another substitute? I've been looking at self watering 5gallon buckets videos (or SIPs by Leon which is similar to your method of delivering water & air & nutrients to roots of the plants) looking to grow food in food safe containers. The PVC is TOXIC so I'm trying to use something Safer, but have not found a substitute or solution/s. Thank you for your time and hopefully, you can reccomend or make videos on self-watering buckets and/or Sips.. Love to see your Version of self water buckets/sips and your singing! 🍅🍓🥕🍉🍏🍇🍋🥑🥦🍄
Instead of cutting the compost material up manually, could you not put stuff in a blender or mix them up in a bucket using a concrete mixing attachment in a drill? Seems like if you add enough water you could make the contents soluable. Wouldn't that work FASTER?
Do you have holes drilled on the lid? After viewing your video we went and bought a pvc tube to do this to my raised garden bed! Even bought 2 more to use for my rose garden!
I have raised gardens with store bought soil. I would assume there’s no worms in there. Should I introduce them? If I do, won’t the die in winter? I live in Nebraska
Could you please say again what type of materials you put down in the pipe I have a raised vegetable bed and I would love to try to use this method to surprise my son with a worm bed of his own and help my raised bed thanks!
I researched it it’s food safe. What leeches doesn’t get absorbed by the leaves. You could use something that is clay and hold the lid in place with a brick. That might be better.
Is there any place to source 6in PVC for cheap, or something similar that would work. I don't want a bucket bc too bulky, but the price of 6 in x 10 ft PVC is ridiculous nowadays. I have 6 garden beds I'd like to do this with.
They don’t eat roots. They can’t even damage them. Worms eat the soil... they process everything that is bad for plants... and then they poop the soil. That pooped soil is black gold for roots.
If you pour boiling water on the ant mounds every few weeks you can keep them away- just run extension cord next to the mound- use deep fryer- fill with water from bucket-set phone timer for aprox 12 minutes-plug in fryer-wear thick leather gloves, long sleeve shirt and long pants and boots .if it’s windy, wait until wind is not blowing-early morning late afternoon is best- use iron tooth rake to bust up hard top of mound just before you start pouring the boiling water- - repeat 4-8 hours & every 2-4 weeks
I’m not sure how well it works, but he actually use this exact same method with one of his lemon trees. Check out his video about making trees grow faster.
I subscribed because you have good content and appear to be nuts.
dude, same. This makes me want to garden more! I mean smarter.

Yes, why have standard sane advice, when you you can have fun and useful advice? David the Good is similar I find !
There is a difference between nuts and genius.
This is exactly why I subscribed as soon as the renaissance type music and singing I instantly hit subscribe

I hope that someone will forward this to Jack Black. He would be jealous someone is making his gardening videos. Pure joy.

Thats a great idea. It’s full of earthworms! You refill it as the worms eat. Every two months I have to add more. I’ll have to make a follow up video.
@@GrowingTogether Did you ever make the follow-up to this?

But for the realy goods informatios too.

Hey! What do you have going on in the big clear hanging containers (red) in the background?
Would it be okay to use a smaller diameter pvc pipe?
I have 40ft beds and huge compost bens. I do however really like this idea.
Loved this video thank you.
Cool stuff and fun, positive vibe!!
I’m glad Jorge Masvidal found peace in the form of gardening and acoustic guitar after a career of cage fighting
Comment is so underrated :)
I KNEW he looked familiar!
Yess!
Bro your a genius
Thanks for the new methods
Can a worm tower be used in a root vegetable garden?
I love your songs sir 🙏🙏 of course tips as well 🙏🤩
My lid constantly sticks, Is there a solution other than turning the lid upside down?
Buenas noches, las lombrices son rojas californianas o solas llegan al área del compostaje ?
Solas llegarán. Pero fijate. Después de un mes... si no las ves... las podés comprar e introducir.
Do animals burrow up from the bottom?
Did you dig a hole for this or just stick it in the ground?
Instead of cutting the compost material up manually, could you not put stuff in a blender or mix them up in a bucket using a concrete mixing attachment in a drill? Seems like if you add enough water you could make the contents soluable. Wouldn't that work FASTER?
Muy divertido y educativo esta forma de explicar las cosas👍😀

Nicely done. 😊
Do these work in the winter? I live in central New Jersey.
It should work but it needs extra care. Here’s a resource that has more info. blog.compostrevolution.com.au/worming-up-your-compost-this-winter/
You got a subscribe from me! As far as I can tell you are consistant with your post video content horticultural jam sessions.
I have smaller beds.. can I make one that's smaller? Thanks and God bless you and your family
What’s the size of the bed?
can you use soda for sugar water?
Could you please say again what type of materials you put down in the pipe I have a raised vegetable bed and I would love to try to use this method to surprise my son with a worm bed of his own and help my raised bed thanks!
You put in half greens like lettuce and vegetable cuttings and half dry like leaves, napkins, or finely cut cardboard.
Love the video and the singing more :00 - I sing as well :0)
Thank you☺️
Awesome song at the end 👏🏽👏🏽 how many tubes do you recommend for space
1 tube covers ~3 feet or 80cm in every direction.
@@GrowingTogether ok thank you!
Doesn't PVC leach into the soil?
I researched it it’s food safe. What leeches doesn’t get absorbed by the leaves. You could use something that is clay and hold the lid in place with a brick. That might be better.
how to make sugar water and how to make the chalk thing
is earth warm good for flowers too?
can i use the same compose and water method for flower?
Absolutely. All plants LOVE worm castings. There is nothing better than what the worms leave behind.
Great video man!
Try a tower at each end of the garden to get worms crossing between the finished feed in one and the new feed in the other.
If I hadn't subscribed already, I would have done it just for the comments.
Omg you are awesome .. ❤️❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌👌
With your permission I would like dedicate your song to my wife the person magician Gardiner thank best REGARDS from Canada Zbigniew
If you have a paper shredder it is a good way to chop up your browns.
Can this be used on a non raised bed? Can I just plant it in the ground?
Absolutely
Rabbit manure woks best. Earth worms love it.

A clay delivery mechanism would be even better for your soil.
@@GrowingTogether you mean like a terracotta with holes drilled in?
Wait...so we have to sing for the earthworms too? Now this is getting difficult
Could I throw some fish scrap 3x a year?
The last part killed me 🤣
Too damn funny! So much passion, lol. True, too...
Where do you find the lid? Do they sell them or do I have to make it? Thanks
You can usually find caps for whatever diameter pvc pipe you buy. Or use a 5 gal bucket with a lid or something similar
Thanks for sharing 👍
Fing awesome 😂😂😂😅😅 made my day
Dumb question but if it’s a tabletop bed where do the worms come from?
You can bring a few in if the soil you put in doesn’t have some already
Also the worms, like red wigglers should reproduce on their own based on the size of their environment.
Soo the more worms the better in a way? And if so, they don't eat the roots?
Can someone explain the sugar water thing?
Sugar speeds up fermentation.
Does this work for trees aswell?
I’m not sure how well it works, but he actually use this exact same method with one of his lemon trees. Check out his video about making trees grow faster.
Where did you find the lids?
Wherever you buy a pvc pipe, they have corresponding lids.
So you bought the pipe? Subject said it was recycled.
@@glxxyz - he stated "wherever you buy" meaning stores that sell the pipe sell the pipe accessories. That doesn't mean he bought the pipe
@@glxxyz I had it left over from the house I built. I had to buy the lid though.
