I just listened to the interview where Josh Groban did say they lip synced for this. It was in response to the Beyonce lip syncing "scandal", Josh just said sometimes the event is bigger than yourself, and sometimes you just can't risk it for the sake of your own integrity. Just so long as you don't build a career on it. If you've shown you can bring it live, like Beyonce and Josh, then lip syncing when the event requires it is just a professional decision.
I remember this song and ceremony as the first Olympic Games following 9/11 and I had just moved to New York City two weeks before the attacks to attend NYU, I remember watching this on TV in my tiny freshman and sobbing my eyes out, in January 2002 when everything was only three months past. Don't think there has been a more timely and emotional performance than this. In context it's impossible to watch it and not cry.
nothing gives us more hope and is more apporpriate during this scare of covid-19 virus than this song. It help heal during the 2001-2002 years-it helps us now
If they are lip-syncing, it's because it's too cold for them to be singing for real. Have you ever watched the macy's thanksgiving day parade? all of the people that sing in that are lip syncing because its too cold to actually sing. I forget why but it's bad for your vocal chords to sing in the cold or something like that.
The ice skating couple were incredible..romantic...tender..lifts...so lovely...this song is a very important song to me with Josh and Charlotte..it was the last coreography that i danced to to before i got injured..I can't dance like i used to but I can walk and even exercise...dancing to that song will always be a lovely memory for me.
This makes me cry….what a beautiful time that was….beginning with the torch going through our neighborhood early in the morning on a snowy white day. How lucky we were to see that!! Streets were lined with people cheering and clapping!! And the Olympic music in the vehicle before him (or her) made it extra special!! The one time the world comes together in unity. I wish we could do this more often in the world. But it’s not the same world….maybe someday. We know it will be someday. But for now, every two years!! Yay!!
i have never really watched the olympics but this is the one year i tuned in and it was just for the closing ,charlotte church and josh groban are 2 of my favorite singers to this day

I like this better than Andrea and Celine.

Josh Groban is basically just flawless. It's not lip synched. Again, people just don't want to accept the fact that he's pitch-perfect all the time.
