    Nick, great video. Thank you 🙏. What exactly is the forgiveness ceremony and who and what is being forgiven? Just curious.

    • @nickkeomahavong01
      @nickkeomahavong01  3 года назад

      Its a ceremony in which the person who is going to ordain ask for forgivness from their parents/family for past actions :) This way they can move forward with monk life without the worry.

    Why the military style instructors for the discipline training? Is this necessary? It seems contradictory to message of Buddhism

    Why don't they say thank you when they collect the food?

    im gonna ask a few questions that no one would really ask like what do you do if you sneeze do you try to stop it or if something comes out if you know what i mean lol then do we as monks or future monks have a rag or something i would imagine that NO one would wipe anything on there Robes which is why i was wondering and asked just now or do people say sorry for it or what

      @@GeorgiaT21 Unfortunately in Thailand, there are no opportunities for women to ordain as monks (or more appropriately named ‘Bhikkhunis’) since the lineage for the female sangha was broken around 500 years after the Buddha’s passing. During that time, monks lived in the forest, which was a dangerous place for women, mainly due to bandits, so women eventually stopped ordaining and the tradition disappeared. Thailand, being quite traditional, does not see it fit to revive the female tradition since it is not passed directly from the Buddha. On a more practical note, there are also no current Bhikkhunis to mentor the newly ordained women.

      @@theclaamaterasu My thoughts exactly! It’s such an unfortunate that a practice like Buddhism there is clearly still a division between women and men; which of them are more prioritized. Women should be able to practice and ordain as monks/Bhikkhunis as well. Period.
