Thank you Professor Hisashi Hiramatsu for all you did. Your mission was fulfilled. I am in the USA, Knoxville Tennessee and have derived immense joy from watching your band through the past few years. I came to this video after watching a 2018 Rose Parade video. Your vision is bringing happiness to the world.
This man was incredible. Not only did he found the Kyoto Tachibana Wind Band, but he established its mission and direction from Day Zero that continues to this day: bring happiness to the world. He deliberately steered the band away from traditional "militaristic marching" and instead focused on putting smiles on the audiences faces. He succeded beyond his wildest expectations. He walked the entire Rose Bowl parade, all 5.5 miles of it, with the band every year, all the way into his 80s. I'm younger than that but know I could not do it. Because I have received so much happiness and joy from the KT band, i will forever be indebted to Professor Hiramatsu. The world will miss him dearly, particularly in America every Jan. 1.
He was a true Musician and Conductor and brought out the BEST in these Amazingly Talented Young People. Truly Missed around the World. RIP. A Huge Canadian Fan.
I was privileged and honored to have been present in the audience that evening, my wife and I being a host family. That performance will be with us always. His compassion and warmth was a treasure he bestowed on everyone. He was a genius and those that were honored to play under his direction, or to be present at any of his concerts will always remember this great man. Arigatou....
Hi Paul Lovely words and so very true. I have not been fortunate to witness the master conduct and to see him conducting is dream, which eventually came to fruition in his lifetime of hard-work. Those kids on that tour( and I realise that there were alumni in the touring band, but still kids to me), made him a very very proud man and could be seen in the actual parade in which he revelled with the crowds as he marched be side them the entire length of the parade, soaking in the applause from the thousands watching. This man changed the whole concept in school marching bands and just in Japan, but the world over and for that we thank him. Paul and Donna graciously opened their home twice for the students to stay with them and ferry them around. I envy them that great opportunity, even though it was very tiring schedule for them, as much as the kids. Thank you both. That’s it I have said my bit 😂
I am an old man living in the countryside of Japan. Your words always make me cry with joy because of the love I feel for the Kyoto Tachibana Band and the people involved. Thank you so much.
@@yumekoono6103 Thank you very much for your comment. I live on the other side of the world in England and the chance of ever seeing the band live is pretty remote. But with the modern technology made available to us all, I can feel I am there. And yes, I am too an old man and they tug on my heart strings also. Arigato.
I came upon Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band about 5 years ago. Immediately impressed with their talent and abilities. Reading about them in the unofficial fan blog , I learned about Prof Hiramatsu and his concepts for this band. To hold onto those ideas and put them into practice has been a blessing to Japan and the world. He will always live on in the music, dancing and smiles of the young women and men who have performed in orange and black. RIP Sir.
Rest in Peace, Profesor Hiramatsu, you have created a thing of great beauty. The Tachibana Senior High School Band are without doubt the greatest band in the world.
This In tears I write this, that professor Hisashi Hiramatsu was a great genius and wonderful person. His legacy, Kyoto Tachibana HS band is one that is such a valuable and beloved gift. I have great respect for them all, and love them all. A thank you from the heart to all of Tachibana.
I have been privileged to have listened to and watched the happiness of the Kyoto Tachibana High School Bands many times. I have always been very emotional about how Japan suffered and overcame many serious tragedies and my admiration of how the surviving youngsters in all of their school bands overcame their losses and Tachibana in particular have achieved eternal greatness under the wonderful expertise of Professor Hiramatsu who created a new style of musicianship for the world to appreciate. I was amazed by the joint parade performance with Tachibana and The Japan Green Band at the Roses procession only a few days before Professor Hiramatsu passed away. So on the very sad occasion of this memorial video performance, I share with everyone concerned their sadness and of course offer my deepest sympathy and support and wish you all peace.
(※Machine translation.) It has been a year since Mr. Hiramatsu passed away, and I am once again keenly aware of the magnitude of what we have lost for our Green Band. Mr. Hiramatsu performed my composition "Prayer, and with Pride" at a benefit concert held at Kennedy High School in the United States during the 2018 Kyoto Tachibana High School Rose Parade expedition. I wrote this piece right after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and worked very hard to write it in the affected areas. It was a wonderful performance by the Kyoto Tachibana High School students, who really put their hearts into it, and by Mr. Hiramatsu with his wonderful smile. Mr. Hiramatsu, please continue to watch over the Green Band. Now, everyone, please listen to the performance at that time. Junichi Naito
A great tribute to the great man and what he accomplished in his life and how he made Kyoto Tachibana High School Band become what it is now today.🙏 Can I ask if someone can translate the opening words by the man at the beginning of this video. Possibly, who is he and what he does in Kyoto Tachibana High School. Domo Arigato
Please excuse my ignorance, but was some of the music played in this tribute composed by Sir Edward Elgar? It is certainly in his style of music. By coincidence this morning, 18th March 2022, I passed the Elgar statue of memorial in my home City of Worcester, England and near it is temporarily an exhibition of the Knife Angel which was made of 10,000 knives confiscated by the police after knife attacks and murders. It is 8.2296 meters high and weighs three and a half tons. Remembering that Japan was attacked by nuclear bombs, I am hoping that this Tachibana tribute coinciding with my viewing of the two statues is a sign of hope for peace following the Ukraine war and that it does not develop into a full nuclear war. Thank you again Professor Hiramatsu and Tachibana for your wonderful music.
The whole music is titled "Prayer and Pride in My Heart" (english translation) composed by Junichi Naito, and dedicated to the victims of the 2011 Great East Japan earthquake. You can search 祈り、そして誇りを胸に to find performance from other bands. KT has performed this piece on several occasions also. Yes, I think there may be some similarity with other music as also happens with other music played by KT. The start even sounds like Yorkshire Ballad by James Barnes which KT also played in marching events.
