Thrilled. I love Sutherland and Kraus performances. He was one of the few tenors who Joan did not drown out on that last note....particularly at this time! Thank you!!!
This is a staggering display of magnificent bel canto singing of a kind which simply does not exist today. I doubt whether it was this good in the early 19th century either. The first time I went to Covent Garden I heard Sutherland and Kraus in Lucrezia Borgia. What an introduction!! Thanks so much for posting.
Love this and the live 1960 Glyndebourne performance. Grateful these were recorded (the Palermo and '63 Carnegie performances are also worth owning/listening to)
Mr Andre, by any chance, would you happen to have the full 'An hour with Joan Sutherland' tv broadcast from 1965? Perhaps a better quality one? The one on RUclips has some tape errors and cuts that are missing. Thanks!
Yes I do have this film, I have to check about the quality I did check the Puritani performances that exist. Well there is : sept 20,26, oct 8 - all three in excerpts !
@AndreSchaap-tz1uq Please do post the vid! If there is anything wrong with the vid, perhaps we can do a sort of RUclips channel collaboration and 'restore' it!
Best version hands down

Speechless. This is a master class in bel canto that we will never hear again. Stunning
