- This video takes a slightly different direction off of the end of the direwolf config video if you wanted to use YAAC APRS instead of Xastir when running the direwolf software TNC on ubuntu linux
I just installed YAAC and Direwolf on a cheap netbook running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I also attached a cheap USB-GPS mouse to it. All of this I connected to my Baofeng HT. Everything works fine. I think a more powerful laptop would help, but I set this up as a proof of concept, and it does work suprisingly well. No internet required!
I just watched HRN#39 and found the link to your video. Thanks for the video and explanations. I have been a Linux only user since 2006 and I am happy to find applications that run on Linux for my Amateur Radio hobby. 73, Terry - KB8AMZ
Can't figure out how to adjust the beacon time. My station is fixed and I don't want to transmit more than every 30 mins. Seems like it's sending more frequently.
Excellent demo!
Thank you kindly!
can you give an example of the command line you mentioned writing that would cd the file then execute yaac?
I didn't cd to a file, I cd to the directory where YAAC was installed. That dir contains within its files YAAC.jar. I run java -jar YAAC.jar
Can you do group messaging?
Yes, but its frowned upon.
@@retrotechandelectronics what if I was doing in on a packet frequency with a separate group of people not primarily interested in aprs, we just want group messagibg
