I started this video a little judgemental but soon realized this man's quality of life is pretty high. It's seems like he wakes up without a worry in the world and is surrounded by a beautiful natural environment and a family that loves/values him. Best wishes from the US of A brotha!
Chaz is a great guy and has zero stress and loves his life.
thats what i was thinking .. i have 2 acres 5 bedroom house in a hoa with every amenity available and it aint no paradise. Cost of living , stress and workload to maintain every 30 days compared to this mans life doesnt add up in my favor. its the actually doing it part
@@enriquetheplug It feels like they are unplugged completely from The Matrix. Great weather year-round, paradise, people actually have time to talk beyond purely transactional talk. Imagine that.

this brother is winning in life... happy life, marriage and so on.
Yea he most certainly is
I just wish foreigners can buy land. No need for a partner then. Otherwise have to buy a condo in order to be single and play while I stay.
Whenever I visit the Philippines, I always feel stress free everyday no matter how hectic the day or tired I am the day before. There’s something about the ambiance especially the people that contribute to a relaxed Philippine lifestyle.
I believe it, my friend. I’ve been here for 10 months now, and I couldn’t be happier.
Same. I go back in Feb. Just love the feeling. I went to Colombia. Great place but nothing like philippines
that's basically true!!!! perhaps here in the us, there so many bills waiting for you, no matter what LOL. ...in philippines, its a slow life, everything cheap, that you can live a simple living and enjoy life ....just walk and smell the roses
As a Foreigner I can own land and a house no problem just need to go through jus sanguinis and my Kapampangan is poor and so is my Tagalog since I was born in Canada
time in philippines is slow people are happy go lucky yeah they have problems but manage to smile and move on..
I feel proud being a filipino seeing this kind of videos, featuring foriegner's who enjoy there simple life here. It's seem that they're one of those foreigners who god lucky to find a good woman here. God bless you both and enjoy
Uloll
You are blessed. I often feel that the more “civilised” the Western world becomes, the more unhappy we all become. That’s not actually civilising
We've lived here for 20 years. Loving life here. I first came here in 1975 and instantly went "Asiatic". We were stationed here in 1985-88. I knew I could retire here and love it. For anyone considering living here... drop the cultural differences and live like a Filipino, you won't regret it.
Exactly my friend!

Thanks for the advice. The Philippines is definitely me
this is a crap area to put up a home im sorry!! this is for the cheap of the cheapest! this is horrible!
@@joshualee8151 Thanks for your opinion. Luckily, the owner (the person that paid for it) is very happy with it. Thank you for watching
So teach your kids to scam the foreigner, abuse your animals, urinate in public and throw trash all over your community??? got it....
Friendly advice guys, never give money in full when they havent done any work yet. You can haggle for a discount but do it in subtle and diplomatic/friendly way.
Sound very good 👍🏿
Spot on
Goes without saying that good tip mate .That's spot on not just the Philippines but everywhere .
Overpaid it. 50,000$ is too much for such a simple house. This would cost maximum 25,000-30,000$ including the lot.
If it’s in the middle of nowhere then i’d give it maximum 25,000$ with the lot
@@Chrisyconverse123 ig, it includes the manpower expenses too. Yk 30sqm2 house with two bedroom, bathroom connected to small sinc and just a sala also the dining with a small guess area, coz us 100k PH money and it's not even finished just a structure no paints no cabinets nothing at all. And it already cost us alot. And that's in Manila, IG materials there are more expensive.
Its great to see foreigners living simple very happy life in the Phillipines!
Yes it is!
I live in the Philippines, don't think that everything is paradise, filipino's have their own way of living, if you are annoyed by barking dogs, karaoke (loud) at night and roosters that crow at all times of the day, then maybe the Philippines is not for you , not to mention the brownouts and poor internet connections. I have adapted, (you have to) but it's not easy. Remember that you can't own a house here, so if your relationship breaks up you are in limbo, I rent a room in which I can do everything you can do in a house, including cooking, I pay p13,500 per month, my water and electricity is included in my rent, and I have air-con running all day. I tried many places before I hit on this one and it is about as good as it gets here. If you rent and your neighbours are giving you hell, you can up and move somewhere else, but if you build or buy a house...! Having said all that, the people are so friendly here and I feel much safer than back in the UK, I met a beautiful filipina 8 and a half years ago and we married in April of this year, I never want to go back to the UK, I will now start the process of applying for permanent residency...
That’s great to hear my friend and I’m happy that you adjusted as well. It does take time but all together it’s well worth it. I myself have zero interest in going back to the states.
I think it’s important to look at the negatives along with the positives of living in another country with a culture entirely different from one’s native land. I will never move to another country for the reasons you have stated and then some. I appreciate being able to own property (I own my house outright here in the U.S.), and I appreciate being able to converse in my own language with native speakers of English who understand all nuances of a point.
@@ItsMe_PhilippinesI think if you can give-up the brainwashed state of mind embedded into you by the country you come from(US especially), adapt and accept what you have. You can be happy anywhere.
You can own a house, you have to open a business and put it in the business name or you can lease the land for 50 years, or you can own a condo I suggest doing some reasearch
I agree, Better and safer to rent with the added flexibility.
I'm a Filipina/American. I've never been to the Philippines, always wanted to. It's in my plans. I appreciate videos like this. Thank you.

Come I’ll take care of you
Most women who move there from the US hate it. A lot of the younger people hate it. Most don't see how great it is. I'll be there soon. I cant wait.
I'll go with you mina.
A simple house with a happy family. That's the recipe to a happy life.
So true!
Its an adjustment people. But once you make it, You'll never want to go back to where you come from. I lived in the US all my life. Married a Filipino there. We decided to move back. Built a really nice home for about 125 grand with a dirty kitchen out back in Leyte. I have been here for 3 yrs now. And I speak some Tagalog as her family teaches me. Once you are accepted by a Filipino family, your life there gets better and the neighbors also accept you. There are some inconveniences. But you get use to them and learn quickly. The Philippines is my home now and I have applied for Residency. Once the word gets out in the Barangay you are... good people, Filipinos open their hearts to you and treat you as one of them.
Where did you meet your wife?

I wanted to say to you that thank you for adopting the life in the Philippines! Well let me introduce myself, I’m leaving here in Chicago but comparing the lifestyle in the Philippines it’s much better as well, but I’m coming back home in Long Beach Ca, coz I’m tired of flowing snow! Well all my relatives that retired in the service are back home then, they very happy to be back home and I have a lot of American friends that retired in subic pampangga now! So have a happy life!!!!
I like big houses, but honestly I prefer smaller simpler ones. Love trees though, relaxing and keeps it cool too
Same here!
Big houses are most likely to be haunted😬
Glad to see things working out well for you guys. Simple, yet a little touch of America into the area. After some years more fancy houses will come up along with rise in land prices.

It's really a wise decision to relocate to the Philippines for foreigners settling down in a tropical country like the P. I. It's worth the money to spend and yet you can customize your house whatever you want.

Hey, if you do things they want here in the "west," you have to buy new everything every 6-8 years or it "looks" dated to those around us. It's much better to be practical. Neat, clean...and reasonably decluttered and you're set to go. Great video....thank you!
Wow it seems very quiet there. No roosters, barking dogs, screaming kids or motorbikes. Amazing.
It’s a nice area dinghy near the beach so the road ends shortly after him.
😂😂😂👍👍👍
😂. I agree it's very common here but u haven't gone to the high end areas where everything u said is prohibited. There are also middle class villages that are not allowing roosters, loud motorbikes, but more on provincial areas or rural areas this is very common.
Lol, as soon as I read this I hear a dog barking

Hi Cory! Just got to this video. Good one! The house makes sense to me ! Looking at the same type of set up myself! The basic idea is perfect as it reflect what you actually need in the PH. The retaining wall...well Chaz as a good head on his shoulders! I would add a solar system myself. Keep it up Buddy!
Thank you for always leaving a positive comment my friend! And yes, Solar addition is great in the Philippines. My large house is costing me $80 month on the very high end, my friends smaller house is costing him $200 or more. He’s looking at solar now.
@@ItsMe_Philippines Well that is your fault Bro! Do a bad video for a change and I'll leave something else then a positive comment. Lol! Just kidding! Been here for 24 years and don't know where the time went. Lived in and around Manila for about 7 years then visited Mindanao. Have been here ever since. Married a hard working local beauty and together we built a beautiful house, had a beautiful son who is now almost 12 years old, and have never been happier. The people here are great and, aside from one pesky burglar (who now benefits from an all-expense-paid lifestyle in a local prison), we have never had any serious problems.
From prison lol

Excellent video Cory. This is what I want to see. House tour with Simple Living and a budget house.
My countdown is less than 6 months till my move to Philippines (Bacolod City).
Most expat video channels I've watched have more elaborate houses, but this is what my housing budget would look like.
I would love to know what his electric bill is running (unless he is on solar), since he keeps aircon running in the other room to keep cool.
Thanks again Cory.
Currently he’s around $200 monthly. He’s now going to lower the ac and keep it on a timer so let’s see how that goes
My wife is from that area in Silay City/ Talisay
Good to hear you are moving to Bacolod. I was born and raised in Bacolod and left for Manila for college and worked in a few countries and I am now based in NYC. Through all those years, I have been going back to Bacolod and stayed intermittently (1 to 6 months) when in between jobs and even stayed 2 years in the early 2000s. I am a NYC resident almost 10 years now and I appreciate the physical "comforts" and "conveniences" of staying in the US. In exchange though, the stress levels are just too much. I just do not understand how can one be "homeless" in the US when the government has very good social services and jobs are available only if they are willing to work. "Homeless" from an Asian perspective or even from a Philippine perspective is on a different level of definition. Anyway, after all has been said, I still look forward of eventually going back to Bacolod. Welcome to my home city.
Nice neighbor and smart idea on the wall. To bad I'm far away in Cavite, I would like to visit with both of you guys.
I'll be in Manila early next year to pick up a friend at the airport.
That’s house look like a vacation home and it’s also near the beach ❤🎉
If it was 3 people home 🏡, he would build a second floor.
His total land could build another house (i mean couples of stories high) and it still left with backyard ❤🎉
What a beautiful slice of paradise!
We both love it here!
Looks comfortable, solid and safe.
Love the video! It goes to show that you only need simple necessities when living in paradise!
True!
someone definitely LOVES journey, bahaha, phillipines looks awesome i wish i could drink on fresh coconut water over there everyday. i admire that they look after their health.
I think I saw the beginning of this build on another channel a few years ago.
Turned out a bit different than I thought it would.
If I build a house in PH I want to have a basement and plan to have that sticking out of the ground 2 or 3 feet so I don't need a retaining wall as the "ground floor" will already be a few feet off the ground. The basement will be important for bringing ground cooled air in to the house for passive cooling as I like it a bit cooler than it gets there in PH. :p
That could definitely be a great asset to have a basement if done correctly. Flooding is a constant issue here so I would make sure that the foundation and the cement to sealed properly.
This just reminds me of the fact that we as humans don't really need much. That's it. The whole constant advertising here in the US, and the comparison games and etc etc are what muddles everything.
True

I would like to know if their houses are built on stilts, you could use screw in steel peirs and then steel purlins and build on that, you could stay above any flood level, you could catch more of the breeze that way, rocket stove pizza ovens are the way to go and the plans on the internet, you could also build a rocket stove powered BBQ to save on gas, rocket stove tech also can heat water.
They are not but that is a good idea
Thats what i like in the province is a very quiet place to live and to retire. I don’t have problems to live in the province because im not a city girl. I might go back to my hometown in negros And my mother is 90 years and someday when she is gone then i might be going to live because our place is very relaxing, facing the ocean front and with lots of coconut trees, banana trees around. Im looking forward to go back to my hometown and have a peaceful life away from hustle bustle lifestyle in the USA. All i need is to pay the electric and water bills and property taxes which is not too big to pay. Also if i have an American man to marry then he will definitely to live with me in my hometown. Ohh i cant wait to reach my early retirement that way i will be able to travel without rushing to go back to work but just a matter of time to wait until 2024 to retire.
Sounds peaceful!
i stumbled across this video. I have watched many vids like this from many vloggers in PH, and I am not even remotely tempted to go and live there. Each to their own, and I am not knocking those of you that do go there to live. but for 50k I would expect something much nicer than that. I live in Thailand. In rural Thailand I could build a beautiful house for half that price, and of course have all utilities, internet, water, etc supplied to the house. I hope this man and his lady are very happy there........as I say, each to their own
They are and thank you for watching
The culture makes all the difference!
Yes, it is becoming more expensive in the Philippines. Visited Cambodia and every thing was really much cheaper but very, very close to China and the Chinese own most of the businesses. Over time,it will be overrun. Very sad for the wonderful locals!

Overpaid it. 50,000$ is too much for such a simple house. This would cost maximum 25,000-30,000$ including the lot
The new wave are solar generators. They are cheap right now in the states. No Electrical bills. 90% of your household electrical can be powered by solar energy. worth the investment.

I'm confused about that, and not willing to read all the posts to see if they were educated about the properties laws in the Philippines, and the difference between owning the land vs owning the home built or upgrades made on the land. Anyway 😆... if anyone watching this is looking into doing anything or moving to the Philippines, I would STRONGLY recommend hiring a good lawyer so you completely understand all the laws of your new home. There are many loopholes, and the lawyer can save you a lot of headaches/heartaches and money in your future. Also, make sure the lawyer has zero affiliations with your gf/spouse or their family.
Anyway, back to your other videos 😁
Foreigners cannot own the land, so the land is either in the wife's name or it's leased to the foreigner for 25 years with the rights to resign.
its so nice to see something like this is real and possible still.
life goals right here. Thanks for showing this.
Thank you for watching
You built 2 houses for the price of renovating a kitchen.
Happy for him!
Talk to him yesterday and he's still happy
Nice video. I miss the PI. Haven’t been back since 80s. Just correction, the tree is not melon, it’s papaya. It’s more of a berry fruit than melon or cantaloupe.
Yeah our wi es laughed at the video
That's pretty fair price for a provincial house. I think he did right by getting the extra plot. If I build one for the family, I definitely want the extra land and a high retaining wall to keep the floods and unwanted local neighbors or family at a distance. I've finally convinced the wife to get a property in a completely different province or place so family visits are by reservations only. The wife likes to make garden and all too often neighbors want free veggies or fruits in which she labored and cared for to produce and harvest. Most of her neighbors are gossipers and 2-faced and take what they can get without gving back. Hence, the 6-8 foot privacy wall and land to keep a distance regardless of where we build.
That makes sense to me!
Foreighners in Philippines pay with cash, the size of land and house is usually what you can afford.
In USA people pay the Banks for 30 years, as much as they can afford still the same.
But in USA you can buy and fix and flip making good profits along the way. Thats not very possible in Philippines
I flipped all my IS houses for profit so the mortgage ended up being free rent. Doing that here would be almost impossible. Considering some small beachfront property and putting a prefab homes. That would make it possible, but not worth the hassle.
hard to house flip here in philippines. it might take years to sell because they don't have a MIS system and it's hard to make comparable. Also, tough to find cash buyers. No 2nd mortgages allowed. No HELOCS. Very hard to make money on housing in the same way as in the USA.
In my USA city, Denver, many of the houses tripled value in about ten years, making million dollar nest eggs for many. [and made buying a house impossible for many] I have only a simple, one man, blue collar business, installing water heaters. This afternoon I will earn in three hours what many of my loved ones in the Philippines have to work three months for. Philippines offers many great things, but so does the USA. Grateful to get time away in Philippines often and grateful to the USA for being able to help loved ones in Philippines.
Good luck to both of you gentlemen.
Thank you, this video is old and I forgot all about it! My friend is still extremely happy living there with his wife, and I’m still right down the street from him!
Your friends place is nice for the price. I'm trying to see myself in that country, and I believe I could do it. I love the country scenery and quiet surroundings. I just need to find a LDR relationship. Thanks for sharing, my friend...🎥😃👍👌👊🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for the positive comment my friend. It’s a very peaceful place to live. That’s for sure.
OMG!!! I could never live next to the village Karaoke house nor barking dogs. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
He was being sarcastic about the karaoke as far as dogs go there pretty much everywhere in the Philippines
I couldn't help notice a bottle of Kirkland Vitamin C. That's the one thing I would miss living permanently there, Costco. We purchased land and built a house about 10 years ago and try to get over there about once a year. Not sure If I would want to live there permanently. I find it hard to purchase clothes that fit. Purchase a couple of shirts and after washing they shrink a couple of sizes. Buying a pair of jeans is hard as they only come in your waist size and extra long and you have to cut and sew the length yourself. You can purchase Levies or Calvin Klein Jeans but they are usually over a hundred dollars a pair, so make sure you bring clothes when you visit. I have been on all the big islands and the most common Filipino phrase I hear is, "Lets Eat".
We shipped over things like Levies because of the cost
I think he should consider cutting that coconut tree near his house at 16:25 because it can lift and damage his house.
Thanks for noticing that I’ll bring it up to him!
@@ItsMe_Philippines no problem!☺️☺️ I'm happy for you guys! Welcome to my country.
Cool place !
My wife and I are retiring in 3 months and moving to her home country of Nicaragua, up in the mountains…Matagalpa. We are going to travel a lot while we can (55 and 60 years old). Eventually we would love to have a cozy little house like that.
Sounds like a great plan and feel free to reach out to me if your in my area.
Why in the heaven would your wife return to Nicaragua ,when almost everybody are fleeing that country . ive been to Nica many times ,but just couldnt go back anymore ,due to militarization by that powerful Couple Dictators. They may suspect you both as Spies .Neighbors may fabricate lies ,due to envy and report you to authorities for acts you didnt commit . I would choose Venezuela over Nica ,if i have to choose between the two . Costa Rica or Panama would be viable alternatives .There are many Nica asylum seekers ,including Professionals at the US Border . We only have one life ,as you know it and will not gamble it . If Ortega can jail Catholic Bishop ,Priests et al ,he can jail anybody he wants ,even if he knows theyre innocent . Just MHO!

We have spent lots of time in both Costa Rica and Nicaragua. We have lots of family in both countries. We are an old retired couple. There are lots of expats happily living in Nicaragua. We don’t care or involve ourselves in politics.
Great tour! Keep up the great work!
Thank you
