@5:18 same here....I wonder what gigs my drums have been to in the past ! Thanks for the video - very helpful, my P85 keeps slipping. Like yours, my supraphonic must be 40-50 odd years old, so it's done well to last this long. I added a spring below the thumbwheel - helped for about a year but the thread is worn & it's slipping again, so after seeing your post, I'm going for a P88AC. Your butt plate is interesting - wonder if it's a later addition ? My plate only has string holes, it can't take a ribbon - which might explain the extra plate being added to your drum.
I had the same problem with the width of screws... I don't understand why would they f*ck that up so bad. I'm from EU so Ludwig drums are way more expensive here than in US and I don't want to damage my shell. The worse thing is, the buttplate isn't fitting either, not only screw widthwise, but also lengthwise between holes for screws. I don't understand what they were doing... like they "update" their poorly designed P85 with not poorly designed strainer, but they f*ck it up with this??? Sorry for swearing, great video!

Yep the butt plate looks stock, maybe just a later Ludwig one. Who knows what might have happened!

Yes very frustrating! I don’t even want to tell you what I did when updating the strainer on my DW Edge snare…..but it’s in one of the other videos!
