First off, The God is my 2nd favorite Metallica song of all time. Kirk is an alright guitar player, but have you EVER listened THROUGH Rust in Peace? And yea, Kirk has a lot of great solos on Death Magnetic, wich is one of my most-listened-to albums on my Ipod. But Metallica are great. Their fans sucks though. Rob is the fucking best bass player out there.
Yeah they also have songs in which they call for god's help. You probably want this song to be about atheism because you're an atheist, me too, and I see that part of the song's meaning too. To be fair, this song probably is the most atheist manifestation of James' turbulent relation with religion; but you can see through his interviews now James believes in god. And I believe Lars is a long time Atheist. I believe that's a good balance, and being an atheist makes this song kick more ass indeed
@NASCAR90 Agreed, I like Jason better than Robert. Tho Jason was better with Flotsam & Jetsam, and Rob was best with Suicidal Tendencies. Cliff fit Metallica best.
It makes me sad, that James' voice sounds so weak and hoarse on this track. He sounds so much stronger on the newer stuff. He must have been rusty on this, or maybe sick. Either way, great song, bad audio. Would love to hear this song live in person.
FUCKIN LARS SLOW DOWN YOU DONT HAVE DO PLAY SO FAST WHEN ITS HEAVY SAME WITH SAD BUT TRUE AND GET SOME BETTER DRUM SET, YOU GOT THAT? JAMES WE NEED sAME VOICE, WHAT WAS ON BLACK, THAT SUCKED, DONT PlAY IT ANYMORE, BUT I LOVE YOU METALLICA
Man Jason was an awesome bassist. Love that intro!! Jason gets the credit for the bass line, not Rob!!!
this one'll always be one of my favorites by them.
Lars would like to extend his thanks, he just caught this video by odds, and saw your comment and is happy someone was honest with him.
You are right
Now, when they play this song, James starts saying that there is a god but sometimes we just dont see him... or something like that
of course it did. mastered audio always will sound perfect
@net34a thank you. couldnt have said it better
jesus lars...what happened? if anyone wants to see the real shit, search the 1994 Houston Texas video of the same song.
thats pretty good sound
this solo kicks fuckin ass...
holy shit man
Rob rules !
Justice era dude. Seriously, get the Live shit box set and watch the Seattle dvd. James is peaking
i agree however its cos they changed tones and tunings as they have got older they changed the drums to go with it. it does not always work
@loouuni Wherever i may roam, struggle within, nothing else matters and through the never
no backing as with jason, but still good :D
See Tornado of Suols for more info ;)
you right...you see people putting religion in debates like gay marriage - and it just isn't the right kind of argument
Is it just me or does it seem like this is a little to fast.

lars has lost the tempo
His voice totaly sucks in this performance...
Butchered.
