      @flobergruns  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@eyc508 Don't know yet. Think I'm just going to keep it simple for the next month with kettle bells, & body weight. Calf raises, lunge squats, core work, etc. And then get serious after CIM with an actual plan for runners. Any recs?

      The leading theories as to why you get EAMC are indeed dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and muscle fatigue. So who is to say how you got the cramps, but the matter of fact is you persevered - mad respect and keep running hard!

      My man outstanding video i was lucky to meet u b4 your shakeout and just kept telling ya dont get old like me woulda coulda shoulda. I do think 2 days of strength training just 30min a pop would do u wonders at this point and shave a few more mins off. U mentioned kofuzi's video somehow i was in that and the guy who ran with him from halfway to the end.. You're right; cramping isn't necessarily due to a lack of salt (as your body dehydrates whilst racing, your blood sodium actually increases), nor can it be attributed directly to muscle strength. Most often, it appears, it comes down to your power output during the early miles in a race. Going too hard initially could well contribute to cramping in the latter miles and, like you said, remembering that you're pushing your body harder than you ever have before. Amazing race, so stoked for you!

    Congrats! The group you mentioned in the beginning is probably the Abbots Age Group Championship runners. I was part of the group as well. It took us about 45 minutes to get through the gate assigned to the age groupers, so we got into our corrals very late (we were also ushered into the corrals by Abbott people). Those runners you saw most likely deserved to be there and not were “privileged” people. Good luck at CIM!

    I hate long videos like these. Someone talking for an hour, mostly talking head and all about a marathon. And yet, I loved it. I watched every second of it and found it so interesting. Just finished my first ever marathon myself, in Rhode Island. Ended up with a solo run, and can't wait to run one of the bigger ones soon. Aiming at Amsterdam next year, and Boston in 2025. Love to follow your journey, Eric! Hope to connect at some point. Two filmmakers, turned into running should have enough to talk about.

    I bonked at last year's Philly Marathon. This video has so many great tid bits to help prevent that bonk this year. Thank you. My opinion is mile 13 probably did you in for mile 17. But I'm amazed you kept it together and refused to give in. Last year I locked up at mile 20, because of early miles that were far too fast. Sounds similar... Good job pushing through. It's far easier to succumb.

    You are in what is about the top 1 percent of finishers of the 2023 Chicago Marathon. I looked up your stats. You are truly an inspiration. I ran Chicago last month as well. Wish I had met you-glad to say that I at least met Kofuzi. Looking forward to your succeeding videos.

    Thorough recap, much enjoyed and very helpful! I apologize if you mentioned this in a previous training video, but any reason why you chose to alternate two different gel brands versus sticking with just one or the other? I'm curious as I try to hone my race nutrition with a sensitive gut. Thank you for all your amazing content!

    Love the in depth analysis. fwiw, I think the higher volume training block followed by a sharpening block leads to marathon success. You need both.
